Heads up NES gamers! Sam's Journey by Knights of Bytes is available for Pre-order!

When Knights of Bytes released Sam's Journey for the Commodore 64 back in 2017 it was a huge hit! Indie Retro News awarded Sam's Journey game of the year 2017 as this game really surpassed all our expectations, delivering us a huge epic adventure that really pushed the limitations of the C64. Well it's the NES's turn to be a part of this incredible gaming experience, as we have been informed by Knights of Bytes, that this amazing game originally for the C64, is now available for Pre-order for the NES! 

Collectors Limited Edition of Tokimal, for ZX Spectrum 128k available for pre-ordering

Toki was an awesome arcade shooter platformer that was released way back in 1989 by a designer by the name of Akira Sakuma for many different retro systems. In it you played as an enhanced Ape transformed from a Human that could shoot energy balls from his mouth defeating strange creatures and finally an evil Wizard. If you remember this truly great game, you'll be pleased to know that not only can you pre-order Pat Morita Team's Collectors Limited Edition of Tokimal, but this fabulous retro inspiration for the ZX Spectrum is still available as a digital download.

Souls Keeper - A cool looking MSX and MSX 2 action platformer is available for pre-order!

While we wait for two amazing releases due this weekend, which for the moment we are keeping it a guarded secret ;) . There's one game that I can mention that might be worth a look as a future release, and that's Oniric Factor's upcoming game of 'Souls Keeper'; An action platformer with cool graphics and gameplay, that can be pre-ordered as a physical release for the MSX and MSX 2. (The game preorder period for the first bunch of cartridges starts on October 29th and ends on November 29th.)

Tiny Quest - Ultimate Bundle Limited Edition – Tape and Disk Pre-Orders for the C64

The C64 news just keeps on coming, as after already featuring a number of C64 games already, along comes Tiny Quest to keep us company. This game soon to be available as an Ultimate Bundle Limited Edition  Tape and Disk by the end of Jan 2021 and currently accepting Pre-Orders, puts you in control of Mr Cube in a weird and wonderful world of right-angles and crazy geometry. Mr Cube must traverse dangerous landscapes of hazards and enemies to reach his loved one and save enough cash for the return journey.

Fusion Dizzy - A special 52 page issue of Fusion, devoted to Dizzy!

In June of this year we gave you the heads up regarding a great Dizzy gaming magazine called ' Fusion Dizzy ' which is a spin off from the Fusion issues usually featuring not just gaming news but also Handhelds and even Table Tops. Well it is looks as if Fusion Gaming Mag are true to their word, as thanks to a heads up from the project lead of Chris Wilkins, he has announced you can now pre-order the special 52 page issue of Fusion which is devoted to Dizzy called 'Fusion Dizzy'.

Caravan Boomer - Upcoming MSX2 Shooter features huge musical talent!

It's time to get excited retro gamers, as we've just come across as post on the msx.org website of a brand new game that is coming to the MSX2 that is sure to cause a flurry in the MSX scene. This game titled as ' Caravan Boomer ', is an upcoming horizontal shooter completely written in Assembly, that features the musical talent of not just Shinji Hosoe (Dragon Spirit, Ridge Racer) and Naruto (Away, Axe Bow). But also Tanikugu, Hally (vorc.org), Maak, Shnabubula, Masahiko Ishida (R-Type 2, Ninja Spirits), and Norio Nakagata (Abarenbou Tengu, Genpei Touma Den).

The Age of Heroes - A stunning C64 game by Organism creators AVAILABLE NOW (Digital Download)

Great news has just hit our inbox as we've been told by Trevor Storey that the eye opening C64 game of ' The Age of Heroes ', which looks like a high quality Rastan style of game, is not only available for pre-order but the game is now available for digital download! Yes indeed this fantastic looking game of which we have featured before, is now ready to be enjoyed with development by Achim Volkers, music and sfx by Saul Cross and art and design by Trevor Storey.

Prisoner of War - A rather cool looking MSX1 game can now be pre-ordered

MSX owners have we got news for you, as we've just been told the eagerly awaited game of ' Prisoner of War ' can not only be pre-ordered, but if you wait till Christmas you'll probably be able to play it all through the festive season! This game developed by @unepic_fran, with music and sound effects by @jvicentemz, and @Gryzor87, is certain to appeal to those who like stealth games. As playing as a Prisoner of War shot down in a helicoptor, you'll need to escape by any means possible.

L'abbaye Des Morts - Upcoming eagerly awaited C64 port accepting pre-orders!

Some time back we announced the release of L'Abbaye des Morts; a fantastic platformer in a ZX Spectrum style that was originally developed by Locomalito who is no stranger to developing fantastic games such as Maldita Castilla and Hydorah. Well you'll be pleased to know that same game which also had a release as a port for the Amiga OS 4, Sega Megadrive, OUYA, Wii and HTML5, has recently appeared on the Double Sided Games website with pre-orders now being taken for the C64 version!

AlarCity - PixelGlass latest Amiga game gets a rather cool demo!

We've already done a big feature for this game, but this latest announcement is more towards an update, as we've been told by PixelGlass, that their in-development top down shooter now comes with a nice demo of which you can play right now on your Amiga. This demo features fast 50hz scrolling, tons of projectiles, effects, and enemies to wipe out all contained within a game of lovely Amiga detail!

You may remember our exclusive heads up in 2016 for the unofficial Amiga platformer overhaul of ' The Great Giana Sisters ', which was known as ' Giana Sisters Special Edition '; a remastered/overhauled release by a new label called Reimagine Games who focused on non commercial ports, hacks and remakes. However another label as PixelGlass was also created but instead was to focus on the commercial side for the Amiga! This new team of people are now aiming to impress, as they have recently announced the very latest AlarCity campaign trailer & preorder campaign.

Knights of Bytes, the creators behind the incredible looking C64 platformer 'Sam's Journey', which was announced by us FIRST in 2015, has once again appeared in our news feeds but this time you'll be pleased to know, not only can you order the game now, but it's shipping this December! Yes indeed one of the most anticipated homebrew C64 games of all time, full of huge levels, hidden items, secrets and special abilities in a game full of lush detail is coming as a cartridge, digital download or two floppy disks at the end of this year!

YM2017 - A Musical cartridge treat for the Sega Genesis/Megadrive

Our good friend @Diagamblic has just contacted us via our Twitter feed of a rather interesting cartridge by Catskull Electronics that is sure to blow both your mind and your speakers. This is the ' YM2017 ' cartridge; a brand new compilation album on a cartridge for the Sega Genesis and Megadrive that features a large amount of songs from a bunch of really cool musicians. Songs such as Palm-O-Rama, Deliverance, Astro Blaster, Sunset Beach Galaxy, Latin Night Funk, A Night To Let Go, Solar Modulation, Festicity Zone and Hostage Extraction.

Lumberjack Reloaded - An enhanced C64-Amiga port is officially done! (Pre-Order)

Some time back we mentioned Megastyle & Protovision's C64 homebrew game of ' Lumberjack ', which put you in the mighty boots of a Lumberjack chopping down trees as fast as he can, without being bashed by the big branches above. It was a highly addictive game on the C64 that was later announced as a work in progress Amiga port as an almost 1:1 conversion thanks to Cobe and Lemming880. But now the news of the day is, this game is not only officially finished, but it's available to pre-order as a rather sweet looking box!

Gyruss - Konami's fixed arcade shooter gets an enhanced cartridge port for the MSX

Something for everyone this week as we now turn our attention towards the MSX with GDX's port of the 1980's Konami fixed arcade shooter ' Gyruss ', which is available for purchase as an enhanced cartridge by Eric Boez. This game was first seen in the Arcades and was later distributed as conversion kits, with Parker Brothers releasing contemporary ports for the Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 8-bit family, Colecovision, and Commodore 64. In fact, it's the Colecovision which this MSX port is actually based on and is enhanced by the embedded SN76489, so original sounds and music are preserved.

Custodian - Amiga/Atari ST game coming to the Atari Jaguar

It's time for the Atari Jaguar to come out of the cold as pre-orders are now available for the platformer shooter ' Custodian ', which is Piko Interactive's very first Atari Jaguar release. Now some of you may remember this game from the late 1980's that's because it was released on both the Amiga and Atari ST by Hewson, and featured a number of levels, many different weapons and power ups and a great soundtrack by David Whittaker. However Piko Interactive have ported the game from the Atari ST version over to the Atari Jaguar, while keeping the Amiga version music intact.

Code Name Intruder - Classy Shoot Em Up on the MSX now available for pre-order

Of all the genres I like the most are RPGs and Shoot Em Ups, and it is with great excitement to announce Bit Vision's MSX Shoot Em Up 'Code Name Intruder ', which is available for pre-order, complete with cartridge, manual and visually appealing box by Repro Factory. Due for main release 25th October, Code Name Intruder is a high quality sci-fi shooter complete with stunning arcade graphics, PSG Music and SCC Music, 5 different levels, five tough final bosses and hundreds of enemies each with varied animations. To coincide with the news, the team behind the game has released new screenshots and a trailer.

The Little Book of ZX Spectrum Games - A little book of retro gaming ZX love!

Chris Wilkins, the creator of the brilliant retro gaming books 'The story of the Sinclair ZX Spectrum in pixels ' Vol 1 - 3, ' The story of the Commodore 64 in pixels ' , ' The History of Ocean Software ' and other such fine nostalgic look backs has finally announced his latest book ' The Little Book of ZX Spectrum Games '  is now available for pre-order.  This small book of wonder measuring at just 15cm by 15cm, is ideal for long travels and will be packed with info such as games inclusive of pictures, reviews and scores - split into a multitude of genres such as Sports, Arcade, Adventure, Adventure and Simulation.

GoSub - The Intellivision gets a challenging homebrew and will be available for pre-order

Thanks to a heads up by RetroVideoGamer it is now the Intellivision's time to shine, as a new homebrew cart called ' GoSub! ' will be made available for pre-order. In this challenging arcade game you control a submarine diving deep in the underwater depths in search of treasures and vast wealth. Traversing through dangerous one touch death mazes, you must also avoid the deadly monster octopus that has its tentacles set on you! If you can defend yourself and get to the treasure without dying, the treasure is yours!

Honey Bee - Bring back the pollen for the Queen Bee in this exclusive C64 preview

In 2014 Richard Bayliss and Wayne Womersley announced their work in progress Arcade style C64 game of ' Honey Bee ' for the RGCD C64 16KB Cartridge Competition. The story of the game revolved around a rather happy looking Buzzy Bee that had to collect enough pollen to bring it back to the hive, because the Queen was rather angry at such a low honey production, no thanks to her other lazy workers. Well that same game, with the same story but much improved, has been made available through Psytronik Software for pre-order, and thanks to a good friend of ours has been given to us for an exclusive preview
