Ghostly Manor - A charming little Arcade game released for the MSX2+ by 9958 Crew

Another heads up for our Indie Retro News readers, as we've recently been told by Liqmatrix that if you head on over to the itch io page linked below, you can download the latest game of Ghostly Manor by 9958 Crew for the MSX2+. A game in which you need to collect keys in each of the many levels to open the door to escape. In light of this news, Saberman has also done a video of the gameplay viewable below.

Super Metal Hero - Upcoming Amiga AGA platformer via Raster Wizards gets new footage

Another retro gaming news announcement has just appeared in our inbox for all you Amiga gamers out there, as as we've recently been informed via Per Ola Eriksson through Facebook, that the eagerly awaited Amiga game of 'Super Metal Hero'; a kickass new Amiga game that is being coded in Blitz Basic by Colin Vella, graphics by Tenshu and Music by JMD. Has just got a brand new video showing a new sentinel enemy for world 4 base levels.

Castle Escape - A lovely looking game for the ZX Spectrum Next by IrataHack

Welcome to a new game for the ZX Spectrum Next called 'Castle Escape' by IrataHack. In this game which is also available to try out on a standard ZX Spectrum. You play as a Knight struggling with the weight of his armor, as he must make his escape from a haunted Castle by collecting lots of loot and avoiding dangerous enemies!  It's just a shame his armor gets in the way because without the purple eggs, which give him a limited amount of anti-gravity, he's just too damn heavy to jump high enough and may even be crushed as he falls from a great height.

Bruce Lee - Return of Fury - A continuation of a classic 80's game has been released for the Atari XL/XE

In 1984 Datasoft released a brilliant arcade platformer called 'Bruce Lee' which was based on the famous motion picture martial artist. It was and still is a highly regarded platformer that is still loved to this day and can be played by anyone. But boy do we have some great news for you, as a Bruce Lee fan game by the name of Bruce Lee - Return of Fury, originally released for the PC, then by MegaStyle for the C64, has appeared on the Atari XL/XE thanks to Ute, Fantomas and Konstantinos Giamalidis.

Sacred Valley - A new MSX action platformer, but with several twists and unique features.

Another interesting news story has just hit our inbox and one I think MSX gamers across the globe will loading up, as trawling through the MSXDev'22 competition, we've come across a brand new game entry called 'Sacred Valley'; A game which the competition describes as "a classic type of action platformer, but with several twists and unique features". To coincide with this news you can either download the game right now, or play it online via the MSX browser link provided below.

Kitsune Zero - A charming retro styled PC platformer as a nod to Super Mario Bros

If you want to play a new platformer that not only looks charming, but has plenty of enemies and challenges to be had, then as of this moment you can play the latest release of 'Kitsune Zero' by Kitsune Games. A lovely arcade platformer that isn't just a nod to classic retro games such as Super Mario Bros, but throughout the game you'll be running, jumping, and stomping on ghostlike creatures from Japanese folklore. To coincide with this news there's a new video to watch below as a trailer to the game which is available on Itch io and Steam for Linux, Mac or Windows.

Gherbert Groundhog in Save the Date - A high quality platformer for the ZX Spectrum is now available!

The ZX Spectrum goodness just keeps on coming, as thanks to Saberman who has done many of our retro gaming videos, he has told us that if you head on over to the Putty CAD page linked below, you can now download the latest ZX Spectrum game of 'Gherbert Groundhog in Save the Date'; A high quality platformer by PuttyCAD (Ric Lumb) and PsychicParrot (Jeff Murray) that will also be available at some point soon as a physical tape through Bitmap Soft. To coincide with this news, Saberman has also done a gameplay video which can be viewed below.

Bruxólico - Kicking your way through an upcoming ZX Spectrum game from Amaweks


Another day and another ZX Spectrum game, as we've recently been informed via the developer on Facebook, that if you are looking for a new platformer to play, whereby you can kick the *bleep* out of enemies, then it might be worth keeping an eye on Paulo Andrés(Amaweks) upcoming game of Bruxólico. A game which is inspired by the folklore of Florianópolis, in particular the work of the artists Franklin Cascaes and Peninha. To coincide with this news, a new teaser has been posted showing the first work in progress stage of the game.

Der Schraenker 2 - Even more safe cracking goodness for the Atari XL/XE

It was only just yesterday we featured a new game for the Atari XL/XE called 'Der Schraenker'; A game in which playing as a lone thief, you needed to break into a number of safes to find all the loot before moving on to the next ever more difficult level. Well straight onto today's update, as we've also been told that the second game of Der Schraenker 2, has also been entered into the ABBUC Software Contest 2022 with even more safe cracking goodness!

Malasombra - Eagerly awaited NES title by 4mhz gets new footage and screenshots

Remember when we said that the Amstrad publisher of 4mhz, who released fabulous games such as Operation Alexandra and The Lost Treasure of Cuauhtemoc, was bringing a brand new platformer to the NES called ' Malasombra '? Well there's great news for today! As thanks to a heads up by XeNoMoRPH through our email, he has told us that 4mhz has just shown some brand new footage and screenshots for the game which was teased as a demo at the GAMESCOM 14/8/22!

Knights & Slimes - A fabulous Arcade Platformer by Monte Boyd is here for the C64!

Another retro gaming news story for you all, and one I think many will be playing throughout the weekend, is the brand new game of Knights & Slimes for the C64 by Monte Boyd. A high quality game in which playing as the mighty Knight hero, must wipe out all the slimes that have overrun the Kingdom. To coincide with this very early news story, we've some screenshots of the game and a new video which can be viewed below.

The Vectornauts - A classy vector like game gets a full version for the ZX Spectrum

If you have a ZX Spectrum and looking for something to keep you occupied through the week ahead and possibly into the weekend, then thanks to Saberman who did a video of the game and sent us the heads up early this morning, we've been told that Dom Reardon's action shooter for the ZX Spectrum called 'The Vectornauts', has finally been finished and can be enjoyed by all. To coincide with this news, you can view the latest footage of the full version which can be viewed below.

Mike Mech - A high quality Arcade C64 game you should play from LC-Games

Another news story for you all and one I think many will be playing throughout the week ahead, is the brand new release of LC-Games latest Arcade C64 platformer of 'Mike Mech'. This game according to the creator, is not only set inside a spaceship invaded by alien entities, but you must re-active all the batteries throughout the many levels that have been deactivated by the aliens necessary for the propulsion of the spaceship rockets.

Jungle Joe - A challenging yet enjoyable C64 puzzle platformer from Vector5games

If you're looking for another enjoyable C64 game to get you through the week and into the weekend, then we have just been informed by Saberman, that you can now download the C64 game of 'Jungle Joe' by Vector5games. A game that doesn't just put you in the boots of an explorer traversing dangerous landscapes to find the exit. But from the look of the game it smacks of high quality with lovely in game detail, dangerous enemies, nasty traps, and lots of challenges with a limited amount of ladders and bridges at your disposal.

Lilly’s Saga – The Stones of Evergreen - This upcoming love letter to 80's and 90's classics for the MSX2 looks fab!

Unless you were living in a cave, many of you will remember the classic game that is ' Super Mario Bros ', a game that was produced by Shigeru Miyamoto and released by that famous company Nintendo in the late 80's for the NES. It is an incredible platformer that has had many sequels and spin offs on different systems, ranging from the NES all the way up to my personal favorite the DS. Well if you too are a fan of Mario but are looking for something fresh on the MSX2, you'll be interested to know that at some point this year, Pål Frogner Hansen, Julie Trevland, and Wolf will be releasing their love letter to Super Mario Bros called Lilly’s Saga – The Stones of Evergreen.

Wonderboy - An Arcade game from 1986 as an unofficial Amiga port gets a new tease by Acidbottle

Wonder Boy is a game designed by Ryuichi Nishizawa which started its life as a skateboard rock jumping and axe bashing platformer, that later became the great adventure platformer with RPG elements known as ' Wonderboy in Monster Land '. Both of these games have lived on in the hearts of many, and as such, one fan is still developing his own Wonderboy game, but this time as an Amiga port of the Arcade classic with a new video tease shown below.

Quasimodo's Christmas Caper - An in development festive C64 game gets another teaser

We have recently found out through Facebook that as of December this year, Robert Wilson will be releasing his upcoming C64 game of 'Quasimodo's Christmas Caper'; An in development Arcade Platformer which is a spin off to Hunchback Redux (currently in development) featuring Quasimodo. To coincide with this news, not only is there a new gameplay teaser to view, but there's details about the game which can be viewed below.

Metal Slug gets a beta port for the Sega Mega Drive and Atari STE

I can say for sure there's probably not many of you that haven't heard of 'Metal Slug', a game in a series of games that are well known in the community, going back to the days of the Neo Geo system. This game has plenty of humor, while remaining action packed throughout. In fact it was so much fun and still is, that a fan by the name of masteries had developed a Metal Slug port for the Atari STE and a new port for the Sega Mega Drive; an in development action blaster that runs at a rather smooth 50 frames per second with very few slowdowns!
