Zap Fight 2 - Special Edition [seuck] - An EPIC shoot em up hits the C64


Glorious news this Sunday evening, especially you are a fan of shoot em ups, as Psytronik Software and Reset Magazine Staff have released the latest frantic shooter for the C64 ' Zap Fight 2 'aka 'Zapped to Oblivion!' Featuring the graphics of Alf Yngve, code by Martin Piper and music by Richard, this rather eye opening shoot em up is inspired by the classic game Slap Fight and features lots of blasting action and plenty of power ups to keep you busy.

New Commodore 64 e-bundle available now, 6 days left


It's not too late to grab a few recent Psytronik and RGCD killer titles for use on emulators or real C64 hardware, or the turbo chameleon. As the first digital only C64 bundle ever has 6 days left on sale. The bundle was put together by German retro magazine RETURN with full support for the developers. 7 games including Power Glove, Jam It, Soulless and a SID soundtrack are available in the bundle.

Atlantian Preview - The ultimate gladiatorial C64 combat game appears.


Just moments ago and out of the blue, Achim of Mayday and RGCD released an early preview version of the ultimate gladiatorial game ' Atlantian ' on the C64. Developed by Achim Volkers, Trevor Storey and Linus with publishing by Psytronik Software, this game was due to be released at some point between 2015 and 2016, however in late 2015 the development was put on hold and it wasn't until now that a preview version was made available.

Barnsley Badger - Could this be one of the best C64 games of 2016? Exclusive Preview!


During Chris Wilkins Kickstarter campaign for 'The story of the Commodore 64 in pixels', which was a huge success. One of the pledges £65 or more ,was a signed copy of a new C64 game called 'Barnsley Badger', developed by Trevor Story, George Rottensteiner and team. It star'd a gambling badger called Barnsley, who, after overhearing a conversation about a discovered gold coin in a graveyard, which has the head of the great Tutanbadge carved on one side. Goes on a quest to find more treasure to hopefully pay of his debts and live the life of luxury. Eye of the Gods - Action platformer for the C64 with an exclusive review


After already doing an exclusive preview of Psytronik Software's arcade like game ' Honey Bee ', you'd probably think I was going to take a time out with a hot cup of coffee. Well that didn't happen, as here I am with a review, and again it's a Psytronik Software release. This one is called ' Eye of the Gods ' and is an action platformer with you in control of a mighty hero, to infiltrate the ancient ruins of the Cradle of Civilization and to find the Eye of the Gods, to save humanity from its own extinction.

Honey Bee - Bring back the pollen for the Queen Bee in this exclusive C64 preview


In 2014 Richard Bayliss and Wayne Womersley announced their work in progress Arcade style C64 game of ' Honey Bee ' for the RGCD C64 16KB Cartridge Competition. The story of the game revolved around a rather happy looking Buzzy Bee that had to collect enough pollen to bring it back to the hive, because the Queen was rather angry at such a low honey production, no thanks to her other lazy workers. Well that same game, with the same story but much improved, has been made available through Psytronik Software for pre-order, and thanks to a good friend of ours has been given to us for an exclusive preview

Phase Out - Colour matching puzzler publicly released by Genesis Project


Developed by Ernst Neubeck and Simon Quernhorst, with copyright by Psytronik Software and RGCD, Phase Out is an original puzzler from 2015 for the C64 that has now been released a 1.4 public downloaded by Genesis Project with many bug fixes and a trainer. If you like puzzle based games where you need to match the colours, then this is the game for you.

Super Carling the Spider : C64 - Exclusive preview of Psytronik Software's new game!


Psytronik Software who are a software label and publisher are certainly no strangers to us or the retro gaming scene. They have been devoted to releasing games for many different classic systems such as the Amstrad, C64, C16 and VIC-20. In fact according to them they have over 40 titles available including the epic C64 game Knight 'n' Grail, the excellent game Sub Hunter (voted 2008 game of the year for the C64 by Micro Mart), Darkness (featuring graphics and amazing packaging designed by Trevor 'Smila' Storey) and many more! Maze of the Mummy - The latest preview of an upcoming C64 game


"Ner Ner Ner, Ner Ner Nee Ner Nee Ner", just in case  you didn't know I haven't lost my marbles but that was the sound track for the Mummy on the Amstrad, and today we have another Mummy game to show you, it's Maze of the Mummy for the C64!  Developed by Magic Cap and published by the excellent retro software company Psytronik, you'll be walking around a creepy maze having to avoid the dreaded mummy while trying to find 15 pieces of treasure.

Darkness - Psytronik Software releases another top quality game for the C64!


You may be forgiven in thinking that there are no longer games made for retro based systems such as the C64, but here comes another top quality title from the well known developers Psytronik Software, who are very keen in keeping the C64 name alive (read our previous article as an example). Darkness is their latest release and features a massive 100 screen game, as you help the adventurer Stan rescue his girl in a sprawling jungle map. This could be Psytronik's best game yet as it contains lush locations, an atmospheric soundtrack, plenty of action and much more. If you have a C64 or playing through an emulator you'll not want to miss this!

Who would ever of thought that 32 years after it's release and approx 17 million units sold, the commodore 64 would still be going strong today? Well it is! The most popular home computer of the 80's is alive and kicking. A testament to this is shown in the amount of physical releases being produced each year.
