Pineapple Kid - A new Game Boy game developed by two brothers under the name MHZ Games (Pre-Order!)


It's time to give the Game Boy some much needed attention, as if you're looking for a new boxed game to buy that is being published by our good friends Bitmap Soft, then make sure to check out MHZ Games latest puzzle game of 'Pineapple Kid'; A game which not only tells the story of Pineapple Kid, who is on a personal quest to challenge a legendary Tower that appears once every 100 years. But he aims to gain passage to a place called the Pineapple Paradise to live a happier life!

Yawoffa - A small word puzzle for the Commodore Amiga by Zooperdan

While Zooperdan is best known for visiting dangerous dungeons with a +10 mace in his hand battling menacing creatures, or working on his own dungeon crawling website called dungeoncrawlers.org. Just recently however he's delved into a new area of gaming expertise and released a new game for the Commodore Amiga called yawoffa; A small word puzzle game requiring just Kickstart 2.x and 1mb chip ram (or greater).

Super Space Fuel Inc. - A super duper Match 3 game as a small love letter to DOS EGA games

We've featured a number of great match 3 games on Indie Retro News, games such as The Return of Traxtor and Vegetables Deluxe to name but a few. But now after getting another heads up via Twitter , and from the developer himself, we've come across a brand new game for MS-DOS systems called 'Super Space Fuel'; a freely playable love letter to DOS EGA games which has been created directly in Borland Turbo C on a 33MHz 486 PC.

XOR2021 - A remake of the 1987 game XOR for the MSX by Timmy C

Another enjoyable game has graced our retro screens today, as thanks to Tom letting us know through Facebook, he has told us that if you head on over to the MSXdev21 competition page, you can download the latest MSX game of 'XOR2021' by Timmy C; A game which in itself is a remake of the game XOR. A Puzzler originally released on the ZX Spectrum, BBC, and some other 8-bit computers with similarities to BoulderDash way back in 1987.

Heli 1983 - A challenging C64 game with a cool soundtrack gets a part 2

Yet another C64 game has appeared in our inbox of retro goodness, as we've recently been informed via Saberman, that if you head on over to the CSdb link below, you can download the latest arcade game from Drachenberg Studios called 'Heli 1983 - Part 2' ; The sequel to a C64 game set in 1983, whereby playing as a heli pilot and transported to an Alien headquarters on Mars, you must destroy them once and for all and find your way back to Earth.

Follix and ArtPazz - Double the fun for Amiga AGA computers from RETREAM

While I'm not a fan of Puzzle games, I prefer a good Adventure or an RPG, we have recently been contacted through Facebook, that not only has RETREAM released an update to the Art based Puzzler called ArtPazz, but as of this Sunday the same developer will also be releasing their work in progress Amiga game of Follix; a puzzle game heavily inspired by Atomix, which challenges the player to build a piece of a message by sliding the tiles that contain the relevant text characters in the right places.

Raven - A cool looking Arcade Platformer for the MSX by Micha Mulder

Another entry in the MSX Dev 2021 competition and one that I think you'll enjoy playing through this upcoming weekend, is Micha Mulders new Arcade Platformer called Raven. An MSX 16KB game in which you not only need to turn all the titles in the screen to black before the time runs out, but you also need to collect coins and throw objects at enemies while making sure you won’t get caught by any of them for a high score.

Pyramid Warp Plus - A great MSX game enhanced and worthy of a playthrough!

In 1983 T&E soft released a fantastic game called Pyramid Warp; a game in which you needed to collect valuable treasures in the Pyramids of Egypt, while avoiding dangerous Monsters, and looking for escape routes to avoid being trapped in a corner throughout 16 rooms of Arcade fun. Thankfully if you remember this fine game, you may be interested to know, that as of this month you can download the enhanced version of Pyramid Warp Plus; a new version of the game which has been revamped and pimped to a higher level by members of the MSX scene

Pitman - A challenging puzzler for the MSX by Under4Mhz

Another entry in the MSX Dev 2021 competition and one that yet again will challenge your brains possibly to frustration, is Under4Mhz new Puzzler called Pitman: An MSX 32KB game in which you need to collect all the diamonds in each of the many levels, while avoiding being crushed by boulders, or stuck in a hole. So think of a puzzle game that has some similarities to Boulder Dash albeit with a lot more thinking required!

Jump Out - An addictive puzzle game for your C64 by Vector5 Games

Although I'm not usually a fan of puzzle games, even though I do feature them on occasion. We have just found out from a good friend of ours, that if you're looking for an enjoyable yet challenging puzzler for your C64 and that some have even regarded it as "addictive", then you really should check out Vector5 Games latest title called 'Jump Out'; a new game in which you need to destroy all the tiles throughout all of the levels to win the game!

Puzzy Box - A new puzzle game developed by Gamecast Entertainment for the MSX

Puzzle games seem to be all the rage this year, as not only did we have Vegetables Deluxe to play, but also GermZ, Kret and YANGA to challenge our brains to frustration. Well here we are with yet another Puzzle game to be mentioned on Indie Retro News, as file hunter has announced you can now play the latest MSXDev'21 entry of Puzzy Box; a new puzzle game developed by Gamecast Entertainment in which you need to find your way out.

Don't Break The Balls - Bubble popping C64 game coming via Double Sided Games, Pre-Orders open

Double Sided Games have published some very good games these last few years, games such as Vegetables Deluxe, Black Dawn Rebirth and Hired Sword 2 are just some of the ones worthy of another mention. Thankfully the fun doesn't stop there, as Double Sided Games has recently contacted us through Twitter, that as from the end of may 2021 they will be launching a new game for the C64 called Don’t Break The Balls; an action / puzzle game for 1 or 2 players in co-operation or duel!

BlockZ - A cool ZX Spectrum Puzzle game from Raymond and SpectrumNeZ on physical cassette

Puzzle games seem to be all the rage this year, as not only did we have Vegetables Deluxe to play, but also GermZ and YANGA to challenge our brains. Well here we are with yet another Puzzle game to be mentioned, as Andy Green who is creating the loading screens, has announced that Raymond Russell with music by SpectrumNez, are now accepting physical pre-orders for their previously released digital download of 'BlockZ'; a block moving puzzle game for the ZX Spectrum 48K and 128K... The ZX Spectrum 128k version has both music and SFX!

Vegetables Deluxe - A fabulous Match 3 game by Mike Richmond is coming to the speccy! (Pre-Orders Open)

Double Sided Games didn't just announce that L'Abbaye Des Morts for the C64 has gone free, but as of today you can now pre-order the upcoming ZX Spectrum game of ' Vegetables Deluxe '; A game that was previously released on the Amiga and C64 and also coming to the Vic-20 via Arlagames. Now if you haven't heard of this game before, that's because it was previously released as Vegetables, and now thanks to Mike Richmond, is getting a rather lovely speccy graphical overhaul!

GermZ - A WIP Amiga puzzle game by Last Minute Creations gets a demo

Another heads up from Saberman and yet again an Amiga game, is the work in progress early build of 'Germz'; a new game which is a rather short, mostly multiplayer party game that was first released as a demo version at the RETRONIZACJA 3.9 party event. As noted by the description on the itch'io website : you take control of one of the four GermZ species, and the task is of total dominance by the eradication of all the other GermZ in the level.

YANGA - A great Puzzle game released for the ZX Spectrum by Serdjuk


Although I'm not usually a fan of puzzle games, even though I do feature them on occasion. We've just found out from Saberman, that Serdjuk has released his high quality ZX Spectrum puzzler called 'Yanga'; A game in which you play as Yanga and must rescue your true love Siggy from the evil clutches Darlock, who's willing to sacrifice her to become a powerful god.

Fantasy Puzzle Deluxe Edition BIG BOX for the Intellivision coming Nov/Dec 2020


Columns, Tetris and Puyo Puyo styled games are certainly back in fashion, especially with games being announced such as From Below, Landfill, and even the gameboy inspiration of Into the Blue. Well one game that's worthy of a mention and is coming in late Nov 2020 and possibly early December, is the upcoming game of 'Fantasy Puzzle'; a new Intellivision game by CoteGamers that is sure excite fans of that classic game Puyo Puyo.

Millie and Mollie - Catrap inspired C64 game now available for Android, iOS and Windows


Late last year we announced on Indie Retro News that Carleton Handley and Saul Cross was working on a rather lovely game for the C64 called ' Millie and Mollie '; a game which is not only inspired by the late 80's to early 90's game of Catrap, but also features moveable blocks, the swapping of characters to solve puzzles, and the use of time rewinding mechanics to undo your own mistakes. Well after finally appearing on the C64 not long ago, the team behind Millie and Mollie were pleased to announce this month the game had also been released for both Android, iOS and Windows based systems.

Adam is Me - A lovely looking game that's worth playing on your Atari XL/XE


Here on Indie Retro News we do love writing about the Atari XL/XE, especially with cool games being mentioned such as Screaming Wings, Galaga and even the upcoming port of Wonder Boy. Thankfully there's no let up in this coolness however, as thanks to a heads up from our good friend Saberman, we've been told you can play the previously mentioned game of 'Adam is Me' on your Atari XL/XE right now by Arvi Teikari.

BoxyMoxy - A High quality C64 puzzle game has been published by RGCD


Although I'm not usually a fan of puzzle games, even though I do feature them on occasion. We've just found out from RGCD via their own Facebook group, that they have finally published the high quality puzzle game for the C64 called BoxyMoxy. This game according to Antonio Savona who had also worked on L’abbaye Des Morts, Planet Golf and Chopper Command, has said that he has coded coded the game with Lobo and Aldo Chiummo, and the game features full on unforgiving puzzle gameplay!
