In 1986 Dinamic Software released the Spanish game of ' Phantomas 2 ' for the Amstrad CPC, C64, ZX Spectrum and later the MSX with an international release name through Codemasters under the title of ' Vampire '. This rather creepy game with a mix of adventuring and platforming containing many different screens, placed you inside the castle of Count Dracula on a quest to kill the monster while avoiding deadly traps. So why are we mentioning this game you might ask? Well this game is coming back but this time as a remake for the Amstrad CPC thanks to Jordi Sureda and Santiago Ontanon which is due to be released on Friday as ' Phantomas 2.0 '

An unofficial It Came From The Desert Remake project shown

Back in 1989 Cinemaware released one of the greatest action-adventure games ever made. It had a strong Hollywood B movie vibe as you tried to prove that giant ants were real and convince the mayor to call upon the national guard to fight. Featuring a mix of adventuring, arcade and shooter game play and ported to a multitude of systems such as the Amiga, many gamers are still playing it even today. But the big news is and no this isn't from Cinemaware, as we've learnt Josue is remaking the classic game as an unofficial 3D remake.

Loading screen by ER

Some time back we announced that Bill Williams and published by Synapse Softwares 'Alley Cat' for the Atari 8bit in 1983 and MS-DOS in 1984 was coming to the ZX Spectrum as a port by Destr with as much of the original gameplay intact. Sadly that conversion became MIA and it was down to Jordi to take the reigns and give us that much needed conversion/demake which was announced via the ZX-Dev MIA remake competition. Well you'll be pleased to know unlike that version the demake has come along well enough for the creator to release a small beta demo.

Ultimate Play the Game released many incredible titles in the 80's, games such as Knightlore, Jetpac, Sabre Wulf and Gunfright to name but a few. But today's news is something of a special announcement for fans of Ultimate Play the Game, as their top down arcade adventure game ' Atic Atac ' released in 83, is being remade but this time as an unofficial free isometric game, taking it back to the true roots of many of Ultimate Play the Game's titles of the 80's!

Alley Cat - Atari/DOS cat classic coming to the ZX Spectrum

Probably one of the oldest games on our website is Bill Williams and published by Synapse Softwares 'Alley Cat' for the Atari 8bit in 1983 and MS-DOS in 1984. Playing as Freddy the Cat, your objective was to perform challenges such as catching mice in a persons home in order to reach his Cat love, Felicia. For what was a very odd game indeed with Cheese the size of an entire room, and a humorous cat falling behind the fence, Alley Cat is once again being ported over to the ZX Spectrum, but this time by Jordi Sesmero and hopefully for the ZX Dev remake competition.

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis Special Edition Demo 2.0 released!

Dungeon crawlers are not the only genre I'm a huge fan of, as if I showed my adventure game collection on the shelf gleaming with The Secret of Monkey Island, Quest for Glory, Kings Quest or even Indiana Jones that would prove I also have a soft spot for the Adventure genre too. Thankfully it seems others have a spot for games such as Indiana Jones, as just moments ago Patrik Spacek announced the release of the Indiana Jones Fate of Atlantis Special Edition Demo 2.0!

The Last Ninja - Is System 3's classic game coming to the ZX Spectrum?

In the late 80's System 3 released one of the most incredible 8-bit games of all time, cited by many as a highly innovative, groundbreaking title that put you in control of the ninja Armakuni on his journey to the palace of the evil shogun Kunitoki to assassinate him, avenge his clan, and retrieve the sacred scrolls. That game was none other than ' The Last Ninja ', a highly successful game for its time which as of today has re-appeared in our inbox but instead as a possible tease for an upcoming unofficial ZX remake.

Alex Kidd in Miracle World remake is coming!

In 1987 Sega released the great side-scrolling platform game ' Alex Kidd ' for the Sega Master System console. Although it was first released in Japan in 1986 but internationally in 1987, it was one of the most well known games as it was also built into most Master System II's. For anyone that has played the rather enjoyable original, will be pleased to know @Narehop y and @josyanf1 are working on a gorgeous remake for modern systems!

Eight Dragons - Spiritual successor to Target Renegade coming soon to Steam

It's been a good month for my inner child. Growing up, owning a ZX Spectrum, my three favourite games for it were Barbarian, Saboteur, and Target Renegade. What with Barbarian getting not one but two snazzy looking remakes released in the coming months (Barbarian +,and Cimmerian), and Saboteur getting its long awaited threequel (I don't care if that's not a word),  I really didn't think things could get better for the ten year old Chris that now only exists in the best part of my brain. Now we have Eight Dragons from the marvellous peeps at Extend Mode and it looks fantastic.
