Toki C64 Remastered gets new footage and it looks AWESOME

Toki was an awesome arcade shooter platformer that was released way back in 1989 by a designer by the name of Akira Sakuma for many different systems such as the NES, Sega Mega Drive, Atari Lynx, Atari ST, Amiga and Commodore 64. In it you played as an enhanced Ape transformed from a Human that could shoot energy balls from his mouth defeating strange creatures and finally an evil Wizard. Well If you remember this truly great game, you'll be pleased to know that at some point in the near future, you'll be able to play a remastered version which is still in development for the C64!

Prince of Persia - HOT NEWS as a fabulous Sega Mega Drive remaster has been released!

Another great news story for you all, as we have just been told through twitter that the all time classic platformer of 'Prince of Persia'; a game which has been released for many different systems back in 1989 by Broderbund, has finally been made available as an incredible remaster for the Sega Mega Drive by Master Linkuei! Prince of Persia is not only a game that featured lots of well designed platforming levels, but the game is full of danger as you must be careful not to fall through loose floors, get hit by sword wielding guards, crushed by gates or at worst skewered in blood on deadly spikes.

We've certainly had our fair share of Command and Conquer news on this site, especially featuring top quality standalones such as Twisted Insurrection and The Dawn of the Tiberium Age. Kingpin: Reloaded - A Violent FPS classic remastered & enhanced, coming later this year!

One of the finest games I remember from late 1999 that featured so much graphical violence I was surprised I ever got to play it, was the classic first person shooter Kingpin Life of Crime: a controversal game whereby graphic depiction of violence and heavy use of profanity, gained a lot of media attention even with an 18 certifact slapped on the front of the box! For those of you who never got a chance to play this game, will now get that chance and more. As 3D Realms has just announced the Kingpin : Reloaded edition. A remastered and enhanced version of the crime-themed first-person shooter classic!

The 7th Guest: 25th Anniversary Edition - Remastered classic in a new 25th Anniversary Edition!

Way back in the 90's Trilobyte with publishing by Virgin Interactive Entertainment released the interactive movie puzzle adventure game ' The 7th Guest ' on multiple systems including CDI, PC and MAC. It was a first person horror game with adult content, that featured live action video clips and pre-rendered 3D graphics that made it a huge success for its time. But why am I mentioning this you may ask? Well you'll be pleased to know MojoTouch and Trilobyte Games have released a remastered version of that classic game, which is now available on GOG & Steam.

The Eternal Castle [REMASTERED] - CGA Animated graphics with Another World vibe comes to Steam

I've played many games growing up, games released on the Amstrad right up to the modern day PC. But there's one game I've never heard of and wish I had, and that was The Eternal Castle; a game apparently released in 1987 as an emotional experience, set as an original masterpiece with the playability of Another World, Prince of Persia and even Flashback. This game with eye popping CGA graphics has not only been remastered as an ambitious attempt to modernize an old classic in order to keep its memory alive, but it's now available on Steam!

Wonderboy in Monster Land SE - The best version of an Amiga port by far?

When I was a wee lad spending all my money down at the Arcades, one such game I used to love was that fantastic platformer ' Wonder Boy ' designed by Ryuichi Nishizawa. It started its life as a skateboard rock jumping and axe bashing platformer, that later became the adventure platformer with RPG elements ' Wonderboy in Monster Land ' that many of us know and love to this day. I myself mainly played it on the Amiga and although it was addictive as hell it suffered from being a straight Atari ST port with poor colours and long loading times. Thankfully our good friend Earok was on the case, as now he's released 'Wonderboy in Monster Land SE'; A special edition of that rather lackustre port!

Jump 'n Bump Remastered - Cute bunnies and up to 8 player bloody gibblets!

From the same team who brought you the "de-make" of Alex Kidd in Miracle World for the Pico 8, Domarius Games is now looking towards an old MS-DOS game for bit of a 4 player antics. Titled as ' Jump 'n Bump ', this game was originally released for free by Brainchild Design in 1998 for MS-DOS.  It supported 4 players and was about bunnies crushing each other to death to get the highest score. So why are we mentioning this now? Well the developers Domarius Games have re-released the game but this time as a remastered version for modern systems!

Bomb Jack DX C64 - C64 classic overhauled is looking seriously good in beta 5

Seeing as my brain hasn't completely shut down I can still remember in the late 80's on my Amstrad CPC 464 playing the brilliant Arcade port ' Bomb Jack '. It is a game that required you the player to high jump and float about getting rid of all the bombs on the screen before they are used to blow up historic places of interest, which is made more difficult by the enemies on screen. It was such a good game that sadly many felt the C64 version could've been so much better, and thanks to Retrofan and his overhaul, this latest Bomb Jack DX C64 version is looking just that.

The Dark - Unique ZX Spectrum shooter gets an improved re-release

If you're thinking this is going to be just another ZX Spectrum platformer, you'd be oh so wrong. Especially as ' The Dark ' by Oleg Origin, is a rather unique ZX Spectrum first person shooter, that has similarities to the retro PC game of Quake. First released in 1997, you play as the warrior Alexander and are on a personal quest to return to your native land, to free his country from an evil dark force, that had cross the border of the land of winds. In a game that has now been re-released as an improved version, you will come across many strange beasts that must be killed with a sharp stab or a bullet from a gun!

Donkey Kong - Atari 8-bit Arcade HACK & Atari 5200 conversion updated!

Not long ago we mentioned Darryl1970's Atari 8-bit Arcade hack and Atari 5200 conversion of Nintendo's 1981 original classic ' Donkey Kong ', in which you played as Mario that must avoid obstacles across a number of platforms, with sometimes a hammer in hand to save a damsel in distress from a giant ape called Donkey Kong. Both versions were tweaked and enhanced including colour changes of the original classic. But just last month Darryl released the latest 7.4 version with even more improvements.

In fact according to them they have over 40 titles available including the epic C64 game Knight 'n' Grail, the excellent game Sub Hunter (voted 2008 game of the year for the C64 by Micro Mart), Darkness (featuring graphics and amazing packaging designed by Trevor 'Smila' Storey) and many more! Day of the Tentacle Remastered - Classic Adventure overhaul coming 2016!

Originally released by LucasArts in 1993 as a sequel to Ron Gilbert’s ground breaking Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is a mind-bending, time travel, cartoon puzzle adventure game in which three unlikely friends work together to prevent an evil mutated purple tentacle from taking over the world. It was and still is one of the best Adventure games I have ever played, so much so that I was pleased to find out today from Double Fine Productions that Day of the Tentacle Remastered edition which features all new hand-drawn, high resolution artwork, with remastered audio, music and sound effects will be coming to Windows, OSX, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita early 2016!

H.E.R.O 2 - Original C64 action classic is getting an overhaul

Another class find by Retro-Nerd on the EAB forums, is the work in progress enhancement of the original C64 game of H.E.R.O, which was first released way back in the 1980's for the Atari 800/2600, ColecoVision, C64, C128, and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Titled ' H.E.R.O 2 ', with discussion by the same developer Retrofan who is behind the upcoming Bombjack remaster. Has felt that the original was lacking in the graphics department as it looked and played hardly any better than the Atari 2600 version. As such thanks to maltes they have decided to make it look so much better with a graphics enhancement and possibly more on the C64!
