Pan-Dimensional Conga Combat - Arcade action from RGCD gets a new trailer tease!
When it comes to games that have been released by RGCD, we are certainly no strangers to their excellence. They have pushed out some fantastic titles such as Aviator Arcade II, Trance Sector Ultimate, R0X EP and many others either available on the C64, or looking like a retro inspired game on a more modern system. As such, the game that is currently being worked on is 'Pan-Dimensional Conga Combat' that aims to be a little bit of Gridwars mashed up with a classic Snake.
Rent a Cop 36D - Hackersoft releases another awesome C64 crazy hack!
Although this game has been out for a week or so now, but officially not for us, we are pleased to announce that 'Rent A Cop' Crazy Hacked for the C64 by Vinny of Hackersoft is now available to download from the main Hackersoft website. Originally a RGCD cartridge competition entry in 2012 published by Achim Volkers, you play as a mall cop and must stop a thief from reaching the mall roof with all the stolen goods.
Aviator Arcade II - Awesome C64 shoot em up preview from RGCD!
RGCD are back with another brilliant C64 release and unlike the previous classy shooter of Rocket Smash, this time it's a top quality preview for their upcoming shoot em up game 'Aviator Arcade II'. The first version of Aviator Arcade was released last year as a three level 16kb cart game for the RGCD annual c64 game development and after much praise and feedback, RGCD set out to release a feature packed Aviator Arcade II that is already a great game even at this preview stage.
Trance Sector Ultimate - Top quality arcade C64 release!
New Dimension and RGCD have released 'Trance Sector Ultimate' for the C64. In my opinion regarded as a top quality arcade release. you must fly your ship in a set direction while collection spheres and higher points while also avoiding other enemies. The graphics are pretty decent and the game play is both fun and easy to master. But what the game does have that keeps me coming back for more, is the top quality sound track. Not only is the intro full of awesome beat trance, but the in game music also plays which is lacking in many other arcade games of the C64 era.
Rocket Smash EX - Brilliant arcade release for C64 & PC!
Vinny of C64 Endings and RGCD have just put the word out of a brand new C64 & PC release that looks pretty eye opening for a C64 game. 'Rocket Smash EX' by RGCD is an extended arcade shooter version of Saul Cross and John Christian's Rocket Smash, released in 2013 as an entry in the 16KB RGCD annual gamedev competition.
Tutti Frutti 64 - (c16/plus4) hit classic now on C64!
Originally released in 1985 as a great arcade game for early Commodores, you play as a super strawberry and through multiple different game play styles collect cherries or crush enemies. Each level differs in how it must be completed, but the general theme is the same, don't get killed, especially by falling apples. Tutti Frutti 64 by Mayday! is a brilliant RGCD 2014 competition entry and well worth keeping for your C64.
Falling - Difficult arcade bouncer for C64
The RGCD C64 16KB Cartridge Game Development Competition 2014 is still ongoing and today's C64 feature is "Falling" by saulc12 & Wanax. In this rather difficult game of which I didn't get very far at all, your objective is to get the highest score possible by falling or bouncing down without touching the spikes or deadly objects. You can even die if you bounce too early and reach the bottom of the screen before a platform appears. It's a nice smooth effort for a competition entry but as I stated earlier it's a bit too difficult for me.
Race [16kb cartridge] + Crack - Homebrew Racer for C64
Another C64 homebrew release has just appeared for the RGCD C64 16KB Cartridge Game Development Competition 2014 and this time it's a cool arcade racer from Sokrates. Developed with a scrolling landscape in 8-bit detail, your task is to avoid obstacles and race as far as you can. The only downside are the awkward controls which may put some retro gamers off.
Voivod Attack - C64 gets a homebrew shoot em up
Another homebrew release for the C64 RGCD comp was Voivod Attack by Achim Volkers; a shoot em up with a hint of r-type and a touch of defender. Even though it was released on cart, Mayday have released a cracked version with a trainer for those that found the original to be just too difficult.
Honey Bee (+6D&Fix) - Arcade homebrew fun for the C64
A recent C64 Arcade RGCD 16KB cart competition entry by TND Games and Autumnsoft, you play as a honey bee that must avoid obstacles, collect pollen from the flowers and bring it back to your own nest. With a shortage of honey, an angry Queen Bee and lazy worker bees you are the only one reliable enough to bring back the sweet nectar.
Powerglove - C64 Run'n'Gun on Physical Cartridge release
Despite having a thriving enthusiast coder community, there are still few releases for the 30 year old Commodore 64 and even fewer still physical releases, so it gives me great pleasure to announce that Lazycow games have released their 2013 RGCD C64 16K Cartridge Game Development Competition 3rd place entry on physical C64 cartridge as well as .crt downloadable and PC/MAC/Linux systems.
R0X EP - Enhanced remake of RGCD and NoExtra’s 2009 Atari STE Shoot em up!
Developed by RGCD, R0X EP is a brand new shoot 'em up developed for the PC that features that little bit more than your usual blaster action packed game. According to the devs, R0X EP rewards you for taking risks and flying dangerously, such as grazing rocks, bullets and enemies. The more dangerous you fly through space, the more your score increases.
Phase Out - Colourful Puzzler for the C64!
Developed by Ernst Neubeck and Simon Quernhorst, Phase Out is a new puzzler for the C64 that features very highly in the recommended list of new retro inspired titles. If you like puzzle based games where you need to match the colours, then this is the game for you. According to the developers the goal of the game is to clear each level by swapping the position of the coloured gems in 'match-2-or-more' style. But as there's always a twist, you'll have to deal with black gems which can't be moved and non movable wall bricks. This is once again a top quality commercial C64 release that features 50 levels, great retro graphics and brilliant retro sound effects and music, certainly one to buy for the C64!
Commodore 64 - Still going strong today!
Who would ever of thought that 32 years after it's release and approx 17 million units sold, the commodore 64 would still be going strong today? Well it is! The most popular home computer of the 80's is alive and kicking. A testament to this is shown in the amount of physical releases being produced each year.
