Aviator Arcade II - An awesome C64 shoot em up preview, final release due soon via RGCD and Psytronik

RGCD are back with another brilliant C64 tease and unlike their previous shooters, this time it's a top quality preview for their upcoming shoot em up game 'Aviator Arcade II'. The first version of Aviator Arcade was released in 2014 as a three level 16kb cart game for the RGCD annual c64 game development and after much praise and feedback, RGCD set out to release a feature packed Aviator Arcade II that is already a great game even at this preview stage.

Yoomp! 64 RGCD announces a Three-Dimensional jumping game for the Commodore 64!

RGCD have spread the news far and wide as they have told the retro community, that the C64 version of 'Yoomp! 64' is not only available to buy as a digital download, but also via a cartridge and disk. Yoomp was originally a fantastic Atari XE/XL game and this C64 version is a port of that game as a conversion by Zbigniew Ross in 2016-2017 and featuring audio by MichaƂ Brzeski. Published by RGCD and Psytronik Software in 2018.

RGCDs Conga Combat for C64 + 27 more minigames released today - Huge 4KB compo update

UPDATE: Please note this article was originally written to cover just one game as 28 games were labelled as Coming soon on Reset's itch.io page and in the comments they said it would be 1-2 weeks for them, whilst this game had already been released.  It was only after I published this draft that those pesky Aussies decided to drop all 28 right away to beat the crackers.

C64 Roundup Weekly - Another exceptional week for C64 news! [Breaking news update]

This week has been another exceptional week for C64 news. We've seen a world's first C64 programming feat from Antonio Savona, a new Itch.io release, news of some great looking new games, and Commodore Format's world exclusive reveal: the return of a C64 legend. This has to be my last weekly roundup for a couple of weeks while I take a holiday. So enjoy the latest, and I'll be back early April.

C64 Roundup Weekly - New games, and early game pics, just another week on the C64

Welcome to a slightly late weekly roundup.  The good news is the extra delay has allowed us to announce the awesome new cartridge release of MAH (RGCD).  Also we've seen 2 brand new C64 game releases from The New Dimension and Picaro Games.  Reset's Craptastic games competition gets under way, and we've spotted a couple of early teaser graphics from future C64 games.

C64 Roundup Weekly - All the latest from the current world of the biggest and best 8 bit machine.

Hi and welcome to the second instalment of my C64 weekly roundup.  All the latest C64 news compiled into one weekly article of news.  This week we've got new game announcements, new game releases, new C64 music and utilities.  There is so much going on on the C64 right now, we might have to start doing these daily!

Bomberland - Classic game as a clone for the C64!

When I was growing up there was a game I used to love playing with friends, whereby your task was to drop bombs and either blow up other enemies or your very best friend(s) in a maze like game screen. That game was Bomberman also known as Dynablaster, which was actually first released way back in 1983 by Hudson Soft and then published by Konami, with multiple ports appearing through the years. This latest news however is in relation to this awesome game, as after a period of waiting RGCD have released Bomberland as a free download for the C64!

LuftrauserZ - Paul Koller's magnum opus blasts its way onto the C64

Name: LuftrauserZ
Developer: Paul Koller
Publisher: RGCD
Format: C64 (PAL) Cartridge and Download (from itch.io)
Available: Out Now

Not only is Paul Koller responsible for some of the greatest technical feats on the Commodore 64 (Super Bread Box, C64nabalt, and Micro Hexagon), his C64 demakes are also some of the most fun. Specialising in backwards porting games from modern systems which he thinks would suit the C64 graphics and cpu capabilities, his latest game is an official port of the 2014 game Luftrausers by Vlambeer  (Windows, OSX, Linux, PS3, Vita). It has taken three years to complete, and it’s easily his best yet. Set in an alternative universe's 20th century conflict, you are taken into the middle of a hostile sea in your submarine base. From here you can take off in your basic rauser (experimental sub launched fighter plane), where you instantly find yourself surrounded and under attack.

Planet Golf - An anticipated Golf Sim for the C64 is finally here! (REVIEW)

Title: Planet Golf
Platform: C64
Publisher: Psytronik and RGCD

One of the most anticipated releases for the C64 in recent times: "Planet Golf" has been released this week and is available to purchase as a digital download (on Itch.io and Binary Zone), or "Budget" and "Ultimate" disk box set editions on Binary Zone's retro store. All of the money raised from the game's sales will also go to children's charity: UNICEF. This is the latest game from Antonio Savona (P0 Snake). Anyone familiar with RGCD's 2014 16kb Cart competition winner will instantly know what levels of polish and humorous touches to expect from this latest release. With 99 golf courses across the solar system, there's plenty of content here to keep you busy for many weeks, months and years to come.

Argus - Dungeon Crawling style C64/128 Adventure is nearly here!

Another really cool announcement as Trevor Story has once again shown off the latest C64 gameplay footage for their in development Adventure game in a Dungeon Crawler style of  ' Argus ', which will be released by Psytronik Software and RGCD very soon. Coded by Achim Volkers, music and sfx by Saul Cross, art and design by Trevor Storey, and with a design flavour of the classic Psygnosis game 'Obitus'. This game will have you exploring strange locations and battling mighty foes such as the spectre above with a multitude of weapons.

Gunfright Ultimate Edition - Ultimate Play the Game classic is ported to the C64, C128 and Plus4!

If you were an Ultimate Play the Game fan in the 80's, then this latest news which has appeared in our inbox will blow your mind, as the Ultimate Play the Game classic of ' Gunfright ', has been fully ported over to the C64, C128 and Plus4! Through these last few years we've had a number of conversions and ports already, such as Pentagram for the Atari 8bit, then we had Pentagram ported to the C64. But now here we are again with another port, as this time Gunfright from 1985, which appeared on the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC and MSX is now fully C64 playable by Rod & Emu!

It's not too late to grab a few recent Psytronik and RGCD killer titles for use on emulators or real C64 hardware, or the turbo chameleon. As the first digital only C64 bundle ever has 6 days left on sale. The bundle was put together by German retro magazine RETURN with full support for the developers. 7 games including Power Glove, Jam It, Soulless and a SID soundtrack are available in the bundle.

Atlantian Preview - The ultimate gladiatorial C64 combat game appears.

Just moments ago and out of the blue, Achim of Mayday and RGCD released an early preview version of the ultimate gladiatorial game ' Atlantian ' on the C64. Developed by Achim Volkers, Trevor Storey and Linus with publishing by Psytronik Software, this game was due to be released at some point between 2015 and 2016, however in late 2015 the development was put on hold and it wasn't until now that a preview version was made available.

Quod Init Exit IIm - Fart for victory in this brand new arcade platformer for the C64! ( BIG REVIEW )

Quod Init Exit IIm is the sequel to Saimo of Retream & 2011 RGCD  release: Quod Init Exit.  And if you know that game, you'll remember that whatever goes in, must always come out. But not anymore, since all the toilets have been turned into potties and scattered all over Suinio, the previously idyllic world, where our hero Zampo used to roam freely and eat all he wants and relieve himself, you know, wherever. So find the toilets, save the world is the premise. And boy is it fun!

Pan-Dimensional Conga Combat - Frantic Arcade game by RGCD is now available!

Oh joy of joys, RGCD has recently informed us of the recent release of their rather frantic Arcade arena style shooting game of ' Pan-Dimensional Conga Combat ', which is now available to buy for the PC. From the same team behind those great games such as Aviator Arcade II, Trance Sector Ultimate and R0X EP, comes a game that aims to be a little bit of Gridwars mashed up with a classic Snake. Oh and it has more action and trippy effects that you could possibly handle!

Tiger Claw - Cartridge Exclusive Review (C64 in Pixels Kickstarter)

Hot off my doormat this morning is the beat'em game by Matthias Bock and Saul Cross - released exclusively on cartridge by RGCD for backers of the C64 in Pixels Kickstarter project. You must help Tiger Claw on his path to retrieve four valuable magic scrolls that have been stolen by the three lords of evil. What is handy is that the Master Lee transferred some of the scrolls' power into the four masks of endurance before the scrolls were taken. Let the battle commence...

Icicle Race - Push the blocks in this puzzling C64 game by RGCD

I've heard your cries and you want something different other than a platformer. Well now it is RGCD's time to shine as they too have released a game for the RGCD C64 16KB Cartridge Game Development Competition 2015, but unlike the others this isn't a platformer! This is an Arcade Puzzle game called ' Icicle Race ' and the aim of this rather nice game, is to clear the level from all flames without burning yourself to a crisp!

Powerglove - The most ambitious Lazycow WIP Amiga game to date from the C64

In 2013 Lazycow released the C64 run 'n' shooter as an entry in the 2013 RGCD 16K C64 Game Development competition, where it came 3rd place out of 15. This same game then appeared as a final version and released as a 16KB physical game cartridge much later in 2014. But not stopping there, in 2015 the game was made available as an exclusive PC, MAC and Linux version based on the original with some minor enhancements, such as parallax scrolling and optional pimped spritework. But after all that you'd think the game wouldn't appear on any other systems seeing as it had gone from the retro to the modern. But during the early hours of today, RGCD has announced the Amiga conversion and in their words " Powerglove is already shaping up to be his most ambitious Amiga game to date ".

Phase Out - Colour matching puzzler publicly released by Genesis Project

If you like puzzle based games where you need to match the colours, then this is the game for you.

The story of the Commodore 64 in pixels gets a new game pledge!

So far we have featured both the announcement of Chris Wilkins 'The story of the Commodore 64 in Pixels' book Kickstarter and the extra pledge of a brand new game of 'Barnsley Badger' by Trevor Story and Georg Rottensteiner. But with the Kickstarter continuing to be a success, we have now been informed by Chris, that it has just got even better with a further announcement of a more feature packed game titled 'Tiger Claw' by  RGCD.
