Beyond Shadowgate - Never-before seen point and click adventure is brought to life after 30+ years in the vault

If you loved games such as Deju Vu, Uninvited or even my personal favorite Shadowgate, then you are going to love this news update! As trawling through both the GOG and Steam website, we have found out that Zojoi LLC together with GrahfMetal, has released the final version of the Kickstarter success of 'Beyond Shadowgate'. As in the words of the Steam page "The original design of the never-before seen point and click adventure is being brought to life after 30+ years in the vault - Beyond Shadowgate! This new PC game is being created by the designers of the original 8-bit hit Shadowgate and a leading 8-bit adventure studio!".

SUPERLEO - A family friendly endless runner game for the Amstrad CPC

I was a bit late with this news story considering it was first mentioned around 17 days ago, but if you haven't been following the Amstrad homebrew scene, then come and take a look at Pakal33's new(ish) Amstrad CPC game of 'SUPERLEO'. A family friendly endless runner game for the Amstrad CPC which was created using C and Assembler (with SDCC). To coincide with this late news, we've got two gameplay videos, one from Saberman and the other from Xenomorph.

Dungeonette The New Adventure - Check out this new game that's coming to the Amiga AGA / CD32!

While the last few years have seen a ton of new Amiga games released, few if any have come from established industry veterans that created games back in the 90's. But today news is pretty special for the Commodore Amiga, as long-time Amiga guru Adrian Cummings, creator of original titles such as Cyberpunks, Tin Toy, Doodlebug and many more. Has announced a video update, to what looks to be a high quality game coming to the Amiga AGA/CD32 called 'Dungeonette  - The New Adventure'. 

Hydrogenese - A game missing for 35 years appears as a preview for the Commodore 64!

Year after year we usually go on about the latest games and unreleased titles seeing the light of day for the very first time, well here are with another unreleased game for you to play test, as thanks to our good friends GamesThatWeren't, you too can try out a preview download of the unreleased game of 'Hydrogenese'. A game that was not only developed by X-Ample, who produced lots of demos and games going back as far as 1988(?). But GTW are quoted as saying for Hydrogenese " this is a brilliant and early look at what could have been an amazing space shooter!".

Midnight Streets - A new Arcade Platformer available for the Amstrad CPC by Cyrille Ayor61 and team

Thanks to another double heads up from Youtubbers Saberman and Xenomporph, they have told us that Mr Lou, Cyrille Ayor61 (GGP), S_A GGP, Manshovel and Maitrejoe GGP have released the Arcade Platformer of Midnight Streets for the Amstrad CPC. A game in which you must fight a seedy gang to rescue your girlfriend Sandy who has been taken captive. To coincide with this news, we've got a bit more about the game as well as two gameplay videos.

Xenon 2 Megablast - Manic retro shoot 'em up could be getting a 50fps AGA Amiga edition via mcgeezer!

For those of you who played the shoot em up of Xenon 2 - Megablast on the Amiga in the year of 1989. A game that was developed by The Bitmap Brothers and also released on systems such as the Atari ST, IBM PC, Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive and Sharp X68000. Then you might be interested in this latest news story that we've come across via the EAB forums. As Mcgeezer looks to be working on a recoded version for the Commodore Amiga. A new version in which he says "I've decided to try and recode Xenon 2 for AGA running at 50FPS".

Forest of Illusion - Mickey is still coming to the Commodore Amiga CD32/1200 and it looks awesome!

If you remember playing Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion or Mickey Mania back in the day, especially on consoles such as the Sega Mega Drive, then you are going to love this latest news story . As we have found out that DomKid, who is behind games such as the Castlevania fan game of Maria Renard's Revenge. Is still working on the new game of 'Forest of Illusion' via the Scorpion Engine. As in his words "new game inspired by the Castle of Illusion, World of Illusion and Mickey Mania series, some improvements and additions to the Ansimuz graphic art". To coincide with this news, we've got the original video from last year, and the latest gameplay video posted just 18 hours ago!

Dr. Dangerous - Scorpion Engine developed Commodore Amiga game by HooGames2017 is finally here!

A great Friday news story for you all, as we've just been informed through Facebook, that the previously announced Commodore Amiga game of 'Dr.Dangerous' by HooGames2017, has come out of development and is finally available to download and play. A game that not only features great graphics, but there's lots of levels, great music and so much more that makes this a worthy Scorpion Engine developed game to play right now. To coincide with this news, we've got some footage of the game via Saberman below.

Elevator Action - JOTD is working on another Arcade to Amiga conversion!

The Amiga news has been a bit on the slow side lately, so to change all that, here's a new game announcement that is sure to excite both the Amiga and the Arcade community, it's the 1980's 'Elevator Action' by Taito Corp. A new Arcade to Amiga conversion which is coming to the Commodore Amiga thanks to JOTD! The same creator behind other awesome Arcade to Amiga conversions such as Donkey Kong, Galaga, Phoenix and Moon Patrol 500. To coincide with this news, we've got some early development footage of the game as well as an alpha download below.

Dark Knight Shadow of Madness - Another fabulous platformer for the ZX Spectrum by Mananuk!

This month has been fantastic for homebrew ZX Spectrum games, as not only did we have the release of CURSED CASTLE 2, but there was also The Blond, Mochilo ZX and MAX STONE El Secreto de la Gran Piramide. Well we are not finished with the ZX Spectrum just yet, as thanks to the developer contacting us, we've been told that you can download the latest ZX Spectrum version of 'Dark Knight - Shadow of Madness' by Mananuk. A game in which you play as Batman, and must put a stop to a criminal gang that has kidnapped a group of scientists and spread a deadly virus throughout the city

CURSED CASTLE 2 - A new ZX Spectrum sequel as a nod to Ghosts 'n' Goblins by Fransouls

Not satisfied with all the Amiga, Atari XL and C64 news that's been coming into our inbox day after day, then how about this new game for the speccy then called 'Cursed Castle 2' by Fransouls; A brand new ZX Spectrum game in which you play as Sir Aleron, the brave knight on a mighty quest! The sequel to Cursed Castle 1 in which he continued his journey to the cursed and monster infested Luminaris Castle. To coincide with this news, Saberman was kind enough to provide yet another gameplay video!

The Key - Episode 1 of a new high quality Amstrad point and click adventure! (English Version)

Remember when we featured 'The Key' by Pakete Soft, a game in which we said was a new Amstrad CPC game with high quality visuals? Well fast forward to this month and thanks to Saberman letting us know through Facebook, we've been told this high quality Amstrad game is now available in English! A previously released Spanish point and click adventure that features different puzzles and escape room riddles that is only suitable for experienced players. To coincide with this news, Saberman has also provided a video showing these fantastic visuals found in the game.

The Blond - A new ZX Spectrum game inspired by The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!

We've had another heads up via our ZX Spectrum Facebook group, that if you like action games mashed up with Cowboy TV shows and Movies, then it might be worth checking out the latest ZX Spectrum release of 'The Blond' by Tomasiano. A fabulous speccy game which is inspired by the movie "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly". Spelunky 64 - The rebirth of a hit game is now available for the Commodore 64!

Within the next half hour or so, if you head on over to the website linked below, you can check out the latest release of the Commodore 64 version of 'Spelunky' by Paul Koller and Mikkel Hastrup! A game that was not only released by Mossmouth for the PC in 2008-2013. But the game has a similar style to the platforming classic rick dangerous such as cave exploration, treasure-hunting and yes even nasty cave dwellers. To coincide with this awesome news, we've got some footage of the game below, as well as extra details from the website.

Nixy and the Seeds of Doom - A high grade ZX Spectrum game coming to the C64 gets a downloadable preview!

In 2019 we did a big review of the ZX Spectrum game Nixy and the Seeds of Doom, a game which we said was not only very fun and addictive to play, but it had beautifully crafted visuals. So why is this game getting a mention again on IRN? Well if you didn't get the chance to play this game back then or the more recent C64 version (Nixy the Glade Sprite) which is also of high quality, you'll be pleased to know Andy Johns and Haplo will be bringing Nixy and the Seeds of Doom to the C64. An upcoming game that is also featured in this new downloadable preview.

Mochilo ZX - A new ZX Spectrum Arcade Platformer with an upbeat soundtrack!

MAX STONE El Secreto de la Gran Piramide wasn't the only game with a great soundtrack released for the ZX Spectrum this week, as checking through itch io earlier today, we've come across a new game for the speccy called 'Mochilo ZX'. A game in which you play as MOCHILO, and must rescue PINCHO, GAZPACHO and KUMBA from the clutches of the evil scientist MONUS. To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided a gameplay video showing some of the levels as well as that great soundtrack.

MAX STONE El Secreto de la Gran Piramide - A high quality ZX Spectrum game with a great soundtrack by Flopping

Our good friend Tom has just given us the heads up for the release of the high quality Arcade Platformer of 'MAX STONE El Secreto de la Gran Piramideg' for the ZX Spectrum which is available to download via itch io. A nod to Indiana Jones in which you play as Maximiliano Piedra aka Max Stone, on his first adventure to reveal The Mystery of the Great Pyramid. To coincide with this news, there's a bit more about the game as well as a video from Saberman... Just listen to that great soundtrack!

Bastet - A Cat game appears for the ZX Spectrum by ZXdeveloper

Thanks to another heads up by Saberman who has just posted a gameplay video, he has told us that ZXdeveloper has made available the new Arcade Platformer for the ZX Spectrum called 'Bastet'. A game in which you play as a desert Cat set in Egypt, and must rescue your partner without getting into trouble. To coincide with this news, as ever we've got another screenshot from the game, as well as a 5min gameplay video.

Léon Marchand's Olympic Challenge - Check out this rather impressive Amstrad CPC sports homebrew!

If you have an Amstrad CPC and fancy playing a sports game that or may not break your Joystick, then make sure to check out this rather impressive Amstrad CPC sports homebrew of Léon Marchand's Olympic Challenge. A new game in which you have to wiggle your Joystick left and right as fast as possible, with the aim to help the swimmer Léon Marchand get a gold in the Paris Olympics. I very rarely do news stories about games that have only just appeared on IndieRetroNews, but today's an exception. As we've just found out through Twitter, that the previously released game of King’s Quest VI AGI Demake - A fan-made AGI re-creation of Sierra On-Line’s King’s Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow. Has been made available for the Atari ST! An Atari ST version which was built by Marko / Atarimania, by copying the PC version files and AGI Quest I ST launcher together with original PC creation by Brandon Kouri.
