MSXdev'17 - The MSX Competition results are in and the winners are...


Once again it's time to give a shout out to the MSXdev’17 competition as we've recently found out, not only are there a lot of awesome games to play, but the competition is officially over with winners announced! Yes indeed after all this time featuring every game in the competition, we are pleased to say that XSpelunker won in the MSX Classic category, ΧΙ∧∃Χ (Zevimodoki) in the MSX Freestyle category, and XSpelunker and Draconic Throne share the MSX Community Prize!

AlarCity - PixelGlass is aiming for new heights for the Amiga with a campaign trailer and pre-order campaign!


You may remember our exclusive heads up in 2016 for the unofficial Amiga platformer overhaul of ' The Great Giana Sisters ', which was known as ' Giana Sisters Special Edition '; a remastered/overhauled release by a new label called Reimagine Games who focused on non commercial ports, hacks and remakes. However another label as PixelGlass was also created but instead was to focus on the commercial side for the Amiga! This new team of people are now aiming to impress, as they have recently announced the very latest AlarCity campaign trailer & preorder campaign.

R-Squadron - Amiga game made in SEUCK you might not have heard of!


It wasn't too long ago now that HayesMaker did a great write up of the latest 30th Anniversary Special and Spanish Competition, which featured a number of C64 games that rightly deserved a place on our site. In fact in response to the write up, a twitter member by the name of @KEEZEES stepped forward and told us that he too had made a game using SEUCK, however this one wasn't using the C64 game creation software, but the Amiga version, with the game name of ' R-Squadron '.

Tower 57 - Anticipated retro inspired shooter is finally here on GOG and Steam!


We've been banging on about ' Tower 57 ' for many months now, ever since it was first announced as a retro inspired shooter to that of Alien Breed and even Chaos Engine from the glory days of the Amiga. Well as of today, the team behind the game benitosub and cyangmou, have announced the Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight success of 'Tower 57' is finally available on Steam and GOG for both PC and MAC!

SPACECOMBAT - Is this a new Amiga shooter using RedPill?


Most of the time I like to feature new news, but Per-Ola Eriksson has come across an Amiga game that might interest you if it sees the light of day. Titled so far as ' SPACECOMBAT ', this alpha project from July of this year, shows an early work progress game that is currently in development using the RedPill Amiga game creation software that is at version v0.5.8.

Cookie - A veritable kitchen nightmare comes to C64


Having never owned a Speccy, I'm unfamiliar with "Cookie", however it seems to have had a decent following amongst our 8bit cousins, and now C64 fans get to find out why (without having to pollute their hard disk with a Spectrum emulator). Our friends at Reset Magazine posted yesterday that Cookie has been re-written from scratch for C64, and it is developer Andy Noble's first game this system, having ported many other retro games for windows and mac. It's a really nice conversion of the original and it's free to download right now.

#CPCRetroDev 2017 - The latest Amstrad CPC Game Creation Contest with new trailers!


The Amstrad is back in the news and no this isn't just about one game, as this week there was an announcement for the #CPCRetroDev 2017 - Amstrad CPC Game Creation Contest that will be live streamed for the award ceremony held on next Friday, 10th of November! Furthermore to go one step further for the here and now, 29 games have been presented and can be viewed via their uploaded gameplay trailers!

Space Hippies - Unreleased Amiga game makes an appearance!


Flashtro are on the ball today as not only did they come across an unreleased Amiga game called 'Space Hippies' that was programmed in 1992. It wasn't until WANTED TEAM provided the game plus source code, that Flashtro made available a nice FLASHTRO trainer for the recent find plus a palette fix that helps to spot the enemy bullets better! Now if you love your Space Invaders then read on, as this MIGHT be the game for you!

Tower 57 - Eagerly awaited retro inspired shooter gets a 16th November release date!


This is just brilliant news and more so as it's a game that has featured highly on our website, as Cyangmou has told us that not only is the Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight success of 'Tower 57' coming to a home computer near you 16th November 2017. But the team behind the game Pixwerk and 11 bit studios have released a 11 FACTS about Tower 57 - premiere date trailer, which features more than your average retro inspirations!

A C64 horror game is coming by Alf Yngve and Richard Bayliss!


Many of you may have heard the names Alf Yngve and Richard Bayliss, as they were behind games such as Hover Raider RX, Flying Cobra RX, Snatch McBlagger and even Dark Force : Redux on the C64. But now as a tweet heads up, they have announced they are working on a top-secret horror game project that is once again coming to the C64, and looks to feature some pretty nasty enemies!

Draconian - An awesome 1980's multi-directional shooter appears on the Atari 2600 (RC6)


Way back in 1981 many of us has the pleasure of playing the multi-directional arcade shooter of 'Bosconian', which was developed by Namco and put you in control of a space ship to score as many points as possible by destroying enemy missiles and bases while also avoiding asteroids, mines and other such ship destroying objects. If you remember that awesome game you'll be pleased to know the Atari 2600 arcade clone of 'Draconian' has reached a public build version RC6 and will be finished very soon!

Green Beret - Highly challenging retro classic is coming to the Amiga!

Green Beret or as some will know as Rush'n Attack was an action arcade game released by Konami in 1985. It is remembered for its Cold War setting and its reliance on the player using mainly a knife to dispatch enemies, although you were able to collect many different weapons including the flame thrower. Green Beret was one of the hardest games I had ever played and yet was one of the games that gave me the best memories! So if you remember this game you'll be pleased to know Green Beret is coming to the Amiga!

Tower57 - Alien Breed and Chaos Engine inspiration with new Amiga footage


It was only a few days ago we mentioned Pixwerk and 11 bit studios 16-bit shooter 'Tower 57' will be releasing soon on GOG and Steam for PC and Mac; an arcade love child of Alien Breed and Chaos Engine with fantastic 16-bit styled pixel art. Well you'll be overjoyed to know if you have an Amiga, especially an Amiga OS4, MorphOS or AROS, this game has recently been shown running on a A1222 Tabor, compiled and adjusted to natively use the Tabor's SPE floating point unit.

The Fallen Special Edition C64 - Fire your arrows and defend your walls!


For the more recent gaming news Errazking has spent his time developing and releasing games for the ZX Spectrum, games such as 'Abu Sinver Propagation' and even 'Deep Blue' come to mind. But after a short gap in C64 goodness with games like Deep Blue, it wasn't until now he's made available an early C64 preview called ' The Fallen Special Edition ', which was created for the past Retro Barcelona, ​​has been used in a points championship and is not expected to be a fully finished game until next year.

Horace and The Robots - Horace goes beserk in this upcoming ZX Spectrum game


ZXDev2015 has moments ago contacted us about a new game that's in development called 'Horace and The Robots', which is not only coming to the ZX Spectrum, but looks very much like a clone of the rather fun 1982 game ZX Beserk. According to the video uploader who has shown off this new footage, Horace and The Robots is being developed by legendary coder Steve Snakes; a coder of games on systems such as the ZX, C64, Amiga, Playstation, and developer of the Sega emulator ' Kega Fusion '.

Zodes - Amiga 3D Voxelspace shooter ready for download!


The Amiga scene has kicked up a notch this weekend as once again we've been contacted by Per Ola Eriksson regarding two games that have appeared and he's done a gameplay video of both of them so you can see what they are like. The first one in this article is called ' Zodes ', which was originally available as a game demo on the file site Aminet and is classed as a 3D Voxel space shooter in a first person view point.

The Last Run - John Blythe teases a potential new ZX Spectrum game!


It's that name again John Blythe, creator of games such as The Darkness of Raven Wood, Foggys Quest, Circuitry, and his previous spiffy game called 'Peculiar Perplexing Perils Of Professor Poldark. But this time he's no longer going cute, as he has recently been teasing a new project he may or may not release in ' The Last Run '; a rather excellent looking action shooter. As in his words "our battalion is gone. Destroyed in the last airstrike from the enemy. You have one desperate, suicidal run at the enemy base. One last loony run. Make it count soldier! Make them pay soldier..."

Inviyya - R-Type inspired Shoot em up for the Amiga gets an update


We have been featuring Steril707's in development game ' Inviyya ' for some time now, which is still on course for an Amiga release. But after all the gossip since its first showing on the EAB forums as a design exercise for himself in learning Amiga ASM. The creator has finally released not just new screenshots but new information regarding an upcoming demo, and the game will be presented in Neuss at the Amiga32 at the end of October!
