OpenBOR - 2D side scrolling engine gets an Amiga port!


A nice bit of Amiga news to the end the week as the 2d side scrolling engine of ' OpenBOR ' has been fully ported over to the Amiga thanks to lantus360, although you will need at least an Amiga with a fast 68040 AGA or RTG to play it. If you're wondering what OpenBOR is all about, it's an open source continuation of Beats of Rage and Streets of Rage and is regarded as the single most powerful two dimensional sprite based engine in the world, which has been used for countless freshly designed beat em ups from fan based developers.

WinUAE 3.5.0 - The best Amiga Emulator gets another feature packed final!

Let's celebrate International Amiga Day - Today May 31st 2017


How quick the years pass as once again it is time to celebrate ' International Amiga Day ' which is held every 31st May in celebration of Jay Miner who, according to Gyorgy Dragon(RIP), was the father of the Amiga and today is his birthday! Celebrating 30 years of fun, it's time to celebrate all that is Amiga, from Amiga games to the Amiga hardware. The retro community want to keep the Commodore Amiga name alive and what better way to do that than an anniversary to the day dedicated to the great system. What an incredible line of retro computer systems from the A500 to the A4000, if you lived during that era of gaming then it was one of the greatest moments in our retro history.

Uropa 2 : The Ulterior Colony and Genetic Species - Even more DamienD Amiga CD to HD conversions!


The Amiga is getting a lot of attention lately, as after previously releasing Final Odyssey, The Strangers and Foundation as fully playable Amiga games without the need for the original Amiga CD. DamienD has moved on to Uropa 2 : The Ulterior Colony and Genetic Species, which as of today completes the "Vulcan Software MegaSeries Vol. 1-4" collection first released in the late 90's. Both of these are sci-fi based, whereas Uropa is an isometric adventure, Genetic Species is a first person shooter which has similarities to GLOOM.

FS-UAE 2.8.3 - An Amiga Emulator with a great GUI gets a new update for 2017


Karsten Majok from the Commodore Amiga Facebook group has just informed us of the release of 'FS-UAE 2.8.3', which is an update to one of the best Amiga Emulators with a full GUI that you can use for Amiga based gaming. As we said before FS-UAE at its core it uses WinUAE, but with a fantastic GUI and the brilliant Open Amiga Game Database and FS-UAE Arcade! What that means is, if you have the Amiga emulator frontend FS-UAE installed and all the Amiga game files : floppy images, CD images and WHDLoad games (.adf, .ipf, .zip, .rar, .iso, etc), you'll be able to use the latest configuration settings listed in a lovely arcade info display!

Today Toni has announced the first Amiga emulator release candidate as WinUAE 3.4.0 beta 18 RC1. Which means during this month, possibly midway you'll be seeing a fresh final edition of WinUAE 3.4.0. It's been a long month of updates filled with improvements and additions and now you too can look forward to an end of year 2016 with even more Amiga love!
