K240 - The sequel to the amazing Utopia is here for the PC

Game Info : Released in 1994 came a game that almost took the throne from Utopia, a space strategy game with such brilliance in gameplay, that many could not put this one down. For me, Utopia far excelled over this game as it was much easier to use, however K240 was not so easy. Utopia also had you on different planets building, researching and moving units into enemy areas. But in this game the title comes about in the fact that you are based in a sector of space called K240 in the year 2380, the focus of this game is to build colonies on a clusters of asteroids and mine them for ore. However all was not peaceful as you spent most of the time fighting against several different races hostile aliens with similar motives. Did you know that K240 had another sequel called Fragile Allegiance, though this time being a PC remake of the game but with improved graphics and user interface. Still a good game, but not one of my favourites! Thanks to The Company.pl, which have just released/updated to version 2.6 you can now play this on your PC with higher graphical filters.

Tim's Mod - A rather impressive StarDrive Mod!

Although we have featured Iceberg Interactive and Zero Sum's 4X game Stardrive a number of times before, including two news articles and a beta review. For some, the game needed that little bit of extra oomph and here we have it, with Tim's Mod. This is a rather large enhance of the already great game, with many new features which include: many changes in remnant forces, more than 40 new ship modules and weapons, new ships, new end game event tech, new random events and much more!

StarDrive - High Quality 4X Action Space Strategy (BETA PREVIEW)

After featuring two news articles on Iceberg Interactive and Zero Sum's upcoming 4X game Stardrive (here and here) we finally got our hands on a key for this promising space strategy. With all the elements and more from any other 4X games that we love, Stardrive proved to be a proper gem!

I was a huge Imperium Galactica fan, even liked the second one Imperium Galatica 2, and now we have the chance to play Imperium Galactica, the original again on today's systems. Open-IG is an Imperium Galactica (1997) remake. It’s an Open-Source project and the game is written in Java, so it’s available for many platforms. The game has been updated to support bigger displays and arbitrary resolutions. The downloaded package contains everything including the videos and an automatic update tool

Starbase Orion - 4x Space Strategy (Kickstarter)

A new kickstarter titled, Starbase Orion, is a port 4x space strategy game from the iOS devices, in which you can colonize planets, research new technology, fight in space battles and be diplomatic with other races. It was hugely popular on those devices and gained fantastic reviews, however unlike most kickstarters, this kickstarters information is very sparse and lacking any great detail.

Ur-Quan Masters HD - Free adventure/combat/RPG

Released back in probably the best gaming years of the 90's, this space adventure/combat/RPG was an all time classic for the PC, it also had a number of ports. Originally titled Star Control II, then remade by fans to The Ur-Quan Masters we finally have the HD version called Ur-Quan Masters HD

X-Tended - Terran Conflict, which is a complete overhaul of Egosoft's game, X³: Terran Conflict has just been released at version 2.0. This looks like a really awesome looking Space Strategy Simulator Trading Mod and I personally can't wait to try it out.

Limit Theory - The possibilities are limitless - Kick Starter

Hello everyone, I am John P Martin, and this is my first article on Indie Retro News, I hope you will enjoy it!

Limit Theory is a space sand box game in which everything is procedurally generated.The game is by Josh Parnell, and it has just recently come to Kick starter on November 20th. He is hoping to raise $50,000 to make the game and so far the kick starter campaign has raised $32,302 in just 4 days.

The best way to describe limit theory would be to say that it is a game with very few limits put on the player. Everything you can see in the game is procedurally generated by the games custom built game engine. The universe is unlimited in size, and if you can see something which interests you, you can go there and interact with it. The game is all about interaction and the unique story which is unfolding as you explore and experience the vast procedurally generated universe within it.
