Let me be honest with you, I can't stand Golf! I never enjoyed watching it or even playing it, the only game I enjoyed playing was Mini Golf as it was just way more fun, especially with the family. But alas this isn't Mini Golf but a C64 game called 'Top Hole Golf '; a final preview version of a rather nice golf game that was being developed by Matthew Clarke but alas according to didi on the CSDb site has been aborted.

Fantasy Death Sports - Another BIG article special from guest writer Psychoroid!
At a time when games were starting to create controversies (Barbarian, Wolfenstein 3D, Mortal Kombat, etc.) and attract the attention of parents and associations, studios found a way to create violent games with unrealistic settings that would then be less linked with real world violence. Of course, at the time there were no age ratings on the games and most games in this article were released before the creation of the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board)... The fantasy / medieval settings were a perfect fit for such games and thus were also used for brutal and deadly sports games.
Future Death Sports - A BIG article special from new guest writer Psychoroid!
As games evolved, it became possible to try to recreate succesful movies in interactive form. Some devs tried to do so with the Rollerball movie, starring James Caan, in which the players from two teams of 9 rollerskating (and 3 motorcycling) players are fighting over a steel ball in a circular track. When a team captures the ball, they need to score by placing the ball in the defending team's goal. It is a very violent sport and injuries are very frequent. But the future of the world is at stake... It is important to note that Rollerball had a huge impact on our vision of the future, not only for video games but also movies throughout the 70s and 80s. It is among the trend starters for the bleak dystopian future worlds and as such, has inspired many creative minds.
SpeedBall - Classic The Bitmap Brothers Sports brawler reviewed by DarkwyndPT
One of the most famous developer studios from the late 80s and early 90s was The Bitmap Brothers. If you had a Commodore Amiga, you know what I’m talking about. The Bitmap Brothers is one of those studios that started small but valued quality over quantity which resulted in fantastic games and a rockstar fame among video game companies. Perhaps one day I’ll write a retrospective about them. But today, we’re going to take a look at one of their earliest games: Speedball.
SSX Tricky (EA Sports BIG game, Sony PlayStation 2) 2001
Some things are timeless. They are crafted so well, meet their purpose so perfectly, that they never feel old. If you have a classic Rolex watch, a Jaguar E type or an episode of Fawlty Towers, you aren’t remotely interested in the date it was made, only the quality, the precision and the way it makes you feel.

Hokuto Force have added a nice trainer system in the style of a TV Ceefax Menu for Elite Software's Frank Bruno's Boxing. There are quite a few extra options including unlimited health bar, No knock outs, Always full KO bar, unlimited time.

A bit of a late one this and one not to be missed, as after being informed by DamienD, we have learnt of an old Amiga game called ' Center Court 2 ' that was originally unreleased, is now available to the public. This Amiga game was actually authored by SecondService in the late 90's and had remained in an unfinished state on a harddrive that had become defective. Thanks to a member by the name of Python1 and eggman who then had the hard drive in their possession, the game was finally rescued from its corrupt state on the 9th of July.
Tennis Classics - Novabug takes a look at some retro sports classics!
One of, if not the oldest video game genre's stemming back to 1972's Pong, tennis games are rampant across all systems far and wide, good and bad. With 2016's Wimbledon tournament in full backhand swing, I take a look at several from the 8 and 16 bit eras, starting with the master of serve and volley Pete Sampras on the Sega Mega Drive. I also check the turf on the Spectrum and the Game Boy.
Football Fever - Footy bonanza on the Amiga CD32 from Amiga Jay!
I'll be straight with you right now, I can't stand football, I never liked it as a kid and I don't like watching it as an adult, even if it is currently Euro 2016. However there were some retro games that I did enjoy playing during my much younger years, and those were Sensible Soccer and Kick Off 2! They were no Fifa's, but playing them on the Amiga was so much fun and just perfect for ball kicking against a friend, without the thuggish behavior of a day out at the local stadium. Today's news though doesn't just give you Sensible Soccer and Kick Off 2, but many other football games which have all been put together on a rather entertaining Amiga CD32 release; ' Football Fever ' by Amiga Jay and team!

Ski Jumping &ED - Winter sports Simulator cracked for the C64
The date is 1987 and most of us remember the good old days of Ski Jumping, so here we are with Ski Jumping &ED, the latest cracked release by Antartica. Originally developed/published by Tronic Verlag GmbH/Compute mit, this was a great Ski-Jumping simulator with a very realistic presentation. According to the info page in game load up, the game uses over 60 sprites and two character sets as you try to make the jump and gain the highest score possible in landing. Be warned though, if you are as bad as me, you won't even make it off the ledge!
Sensible Soccer - The best retro football series for Amiga CD32
Retrogamers will be overjoyed, as we go back in time once again to check out another Earok Amiga CD32 port release. If you thought the Earok Amiga CD32 port of Cannon Fodder was a damn fine collection, wait until you play Sensible Soccer and the sequels on your Amiga CD32. First developed in the early 1990's, Sensible Soccer was a highly regarded set of football games that received very high scores from both Amiga Power and Amiga format. Yet even with the graphics the game has today, it's so much fun to play and makes you feel as if you can pull off the best in football skills.

ClusterPuck 99 - Up to 8 player competitive fun!

Developed by PHLCollective, ClusterPuck 99 features up to 8 player competitive matches in both against and local co-op, as you bash each other around the map to gain control of a puck to reach the opponents goal.
