Super Hydorah - Locomalito's fabulous Shoot em up is coming via Steam today!

Awesome news as Locomalito, the same designer behind such games as the fantastic Ghouls 'n Ghosts style game of Maldita Castilla, and the ZX Spectrum look alike Platformer of l'Abbaye des Morts will be releasing his most anticipated game of ' Super Hydorah ' via Steam today! A game I've been looking forward has also been in development by Gryzor87, published by Abylight, and will feature high quality graphics while giving us nostalgic memories of an era of golden gaming; basically the best bits of other classic games while bringing it bang up to scratch for both retro and modern gamers alike.

Voxel Tycoon - A Steam Greenlight campaign for a Voxel based Transport Tycoon inspiration

Glorious news for anyone that was a fan of the classic strategy game Transport Tycoon or the more enhanced open sourced version as Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe (OpenTTD), as a new Steam Greenlight campaign has been launched for ' Voxel Tycoon '; a Voxel based game that is inspired by OpenTTD and Factorio. A strategy game about transportation, building factories, and mining beautiful voxel landscapes!

GODS Remastered - The Bitmap Brothers classic Platformer overhauled is a Greenlight success

We've just learnt through our news feed, that GODS Remastered, the HD remaster of the classic 1991 platformer that appeared on multiple platforms including my favourite computer, the Amiga, is now a Steam Greenlight success and will be coming to the PC third quarter 2017. In this famous game featuring the lyrics " Into the wonderful ", you control the legendary Hercules in his quest to achieve immortality, your task is to rid your city of demons by defeating them while also solving puzzles, picking up items, pulling levers and completing each set level.

Nightkeep - Retro inspired metroidvania-like platformer gets greenlit!

Over the years there has been countless metroidvania games aiming for that greenlight approval rating, but this time there's no need for a hopeful thumbs up, as Nightkeep by PixelABCD and team is a Steam Greenlight success and is coming to a PC near you. In this game you play as Arietta, a huntress, who must traverse through a beautiful and fictional medieval fantasy world completing both main quests and side quests for rewards and experience.

Project Warlock - A retrotastic first person shooter you need to see!

Buckshot Software have announced a seriously cool looking retro styled first person shooter via Steam Greenlight as ' Project Warlock ', which is in development for PC, Mac and Linux. Taking its inspiration from 90's shooters such as Wolfenstein 3D and Doom and as a love letter to that era, this game puts you in control of a mysterious and powerful mage who travels through dimensions and universes in an attempt to remove all evil from existence with an array of weapons and magic at his disposal.

Deep Ones - Visually unusual game inspired by the ZX Spectrum is Greenlit

Another game which has earned the Steam Greenlight seal of approval is the ZX Spectrum inspired game ' Deep Ones ', which is coming to a PC near you this Summer 2017. In this game you play as a diver who has suffered a terrible crash in his Submarine caused by one big menacing red octopus. You must traverse dangerous underwater caverns, rip and tear through thick plants, fight deadly creatures and finally get the submarine back in command from the ultimate underwater beast, that red octopus!

SuperFlight - Fly fast through the mountains in this beautiful looking upcoming PC release

Imagine yourselves flying through a lush mountainscape without a care in the world and the feeling of the wind rushing past your face at ever increasing speeds. If you can imagine that, then you really should check out the recent Steam Greenlight success of 'SuperFlight' by GrizzlyGames. As you'll be wearing a wingsuit and performing daring manoeuvres in procedurally generated mountainscapes pulling off incredible combos to beat a high score.

Grimoire : Heralds of the Winged Exemplar - RPG Dungeon Crawler gets a May release date!

We've recently had a news update via our Dungeon Crawling Facebook group as Cleveland M. Blakemore's retro inspired Dungeon Crawler 'Grimoire : Heralds of the Winged Exemplar' , is not only a Steam Greenlight success but the developer has announced a release date of May 29th. A game that has been in development for nearly a life time, this dungeon crawling experience looks to be one of the biggest crawlers yet with over 600 hours of play possible in a single game!

Some more Greenlight news for Thursday as the fantasy retro styled RPG 'Eternal Emblem' developed by BTD in partnership with I-Elemental and publishing by Back To Basics Gaming, is currently aiming for a Steam Greenlight success. Inspired by SNES games such as Final Fantasy, Secret of Mana, Seiken Densetsu, Illusion of Gaia and Bahamut Lagoon. The game will hopefully pull you in as a fully story driven RPG, a touch of humour, and finally being able to Travel across a vast world in an epic tale of friendship and war.

From the same creator behind Maldita Castilla, Hydorah, l'Abbaye des Morts and the NES inspired platformer ' The Curse of Issyos ' comes a retro inspired game with all the features and in your face wave blasting action, that any R-Type or Gradius gamer will want to experience.

Grimoire : Heralds of the Winged Exemplar - Long overdue Dungeon Crawler needs your greenlight votes

Only days ago we gave you the heads up that Cleveland M. Blakemore's retro inspired Dungeon Crawler 'Grimoire : Heralds of the Winged Exemplar' , had not only received a final promo trailer but there were signs the game was due to be released soon. Well we are pleased to tell you that is still looking as a possibility as the game will be appearing on Steam IF the game is a Steam Greenlight success. Something we'd never thought would happen as the game has been in development for over 15 years, with a release date that was due a long time ago.

If you loved F-Zero or even Wipeout then this might be the game for you! WORLD OF HORROR - Classic MAC infused horror gets a Steam Greenlight campaign

What do you get if you load up a classic 90's Macintosh and infuse it with the darkest of horror games? Possibly this one which is going through a Steam Greenlight campaign  'WORLD OF HORROR'. As a lover letter to the horror work of Junji Ito, WORLD OF HORROR is an Adventure RPG game that pits you against old gods with all the evil and chaos they bring. You'll have to solve clues, use spells and investigate mysteries all over the city ­and in the realms beyond.

Wolf's Fury - Myoubouh aims for a howling beat em up Greenlight success.

From the same developer who brought you the lush looking action adventure RPG 'Vairon’s Wrath', who we know as Myoubouh, has today sent us a message to announce his next game ' Wolf's Fury ' is aiming for a Steam Greenlight success. Unlike his previous game, Wolf's Fury is a full on beat em up inspired by oldschool 2D games of the past. In it you play as a powerful werewolf who is seeking vengeance and must find and destroy the evil Dr.Scandalious, who has transformed you into this frightening beast!

Sigi - Another retro inspired platformer is aiming for a Greenlight success

It might be 2017 and another year to play lots of fantastic games, but there's one genre we are not short of and that's platformers, especially retro inspired ones. So to add to that list of coolness as I really love platformers, is Zapposh's Ghosts n’ Goblins, Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country inspired game ' Sigi '. In this charming game that's aiming for a Stream Greenlight success, you play as the knight Sigi, who is on a quest to save the beautiful Melusina in the land of Lululand.

The Caribbean Sail - Nautical style sailing game inspired by an Oregon classic!

Way back in the mists of 8-Bit computing was a little game on the Apple II that was meant to be a somewhat educational game teaching you about the perils of frontier American life. Oregon Trail aimed to teach kids about the real life experiences of heading out on the real Oregon Trail which according to just about anyone who remembers playing it, meant dying of dysentery in new and exciting ways. So imagine doing the same kind of thing in another game, but this time sailing across the ocean from London to Nassau in the 1700's with only your logbook, your sailors and a crate of food to keep company... Welcome to The Caribbean Sail!

Last year Indie Retro News was one of the first sites to give you an updated new look at Decemberborn's in development NES inspired 8bit adventure ' Cathedral ', which is coming to PC, MAC and Linux Q4 2017. As we said before, It looks to have the brilliance of Shovel Knight and the charm of the retro classics while having cool platforming dungeons, unique aesthetics, new items, baddies to fight and puzzles in a world filled with secrets and side-quests. Well that same game has once again appeared in our inbox, but this time with not only a new trailer, but also a Steam Greenlight campaign!

Jester's Quest - Fairy tale metroidvania is aiming for a Steam Greenlight success

I thought it best for the time being to put aside the latest homebrew developments and look towards Steam Greenlight for my gaming fix, with the newly added retro-ish metroidvania platformer ' Jester's Quest ' developed by Fendi. This is a fairy tale game with some RPG elements, that puts you in control of a lovable Jester that not only has to save the Kingdom, but also has to get the princess!
