NewsStand v1.0.1 - A lovely looking game for your C64 by AGPX and Phobos

What a news story we have for you all this morning, as thanks to a heads up from our good friend Saberman, we've just been informed that AGPX and Phobos has released the latest version of his lovely looking Commodore 64 game of 'NewsStand'; A game that is set in the 80's in which you play as Joseph and must collect money in order to buy cassette tapes with the legendary games for the C64. To coincide with this news update, Saberman has also done a video of the game in action shown below.

RiverRaid Reloaded v1.1 - An updated River Raid clone for the Amiga 500 and up!

While many of you have already played Project R3D's River Raid style game of ' Bridge Strike ', you might also interested to know that as of today, Matze1887 has released an update to his previously released River Raid clone of ' RiverRaid Reloaded ' for the Commodore Amiga. Now if you've not heard of this classic game before, that's because it was originally released in 1982 for the Atari 2600, and then ported over to many different systems such as the C64 and ZX Spectrum as a game viewed from a top-down perspective, flying a fighter jet over the River of No Return in a raid behind enemy lines.

Panda Raid Classic Cars - A new mini racer released for the Amstrad CPC by Antero Martinez

Another Amstrad news story has hit our inbox, as XeNoMoRPH was kind enough to let us know through our email today, that if you're looking for a new Arcade racer for your Amstrad CPC, then you might like check out Antero Martinez's latest game of ' Panda Raid Classic Cars '; A game that was not only developed using basic but it only has 7 kb of program plus 3 of graphics. To coincide with this news both Saberman and XeNoMoRPH sent us a gameplay video for you to watch as a first look at the game.

Prince of Persia - A brilliant retro gaming classic gets an Atari XL/XE video update


What a great Monday this is turning out to be, as just moments ago we were told that the all time classic platformer of 'Prince of Persia' is not only still coming to the Atari XL/XE thanks to the hard work of Rensoup, but as of this week has been shown off with another demo and video work in progress update. This game was originally released in 1989 by Brøderbund for multiple systems and featured lots of well designed platforming levels and extreme danger, as you must be careful not to fall through loose floors, get hit by sword wielding guards, crushed by gates or at worst skewered in blood on deadly spikes.

A new Atari XL/XE vertical Shooter announced by Shanti77


It's crazy how many Shoot em ups we feature on Indie Retro News, I know for sure the C64 has certainly had its fair share of homebrew blasters on our website. Well now it's time for the Atari XL/XE to get in on the action. As we've been told the coder behind the great Bosconian conversion known as Shanti77, is now working on the next fabulous game as an upcoming vertical Shooter which is featured in this new gameplay tease below.

Star Vagrant - A new space trading game for the ATARI XL / XE!


If you love space trading games such as Privateer or FOFT, then have we got some great news for you. As thanks to a heads up from our good friend Saberman, he has told us madsoft has made available a demo for their space trading game ' Star Vagrant '; a highly entertaining space game by Madrafi, Broniu, Kaz and Caruso which is also available as a limited collectors boxed edition for the ATARI XL/XE.

Frostbite - Atari to C64 conversion #3 from Chopper Command team gets a release!


Great news for this rather cold and frosty Sunday, as we've just been told by Antonio Savona, that the same team behind the Atari to C64 conversion of Chopper Command and the previously released Keystone Kapers. Has now announced the release of the next game in the trilogy line up, as the classic game 'Frostbite'; A game originally released by Steve Cartwright for the Atari 2600, and published by Activision way back in 1983!

R.E.R.O - Amiga H.E.R.O remake gets an early demo tease


Sometime back we mentioned the classic game of H.E.R.O, which was first released way back in the 1980's for the Atari 800/2600, ColecoVision, C64, C128, and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Was not only being at some point overhauled for the C64 but was also coming to modern systems as an inspired game called 'Bobby Bombastic'. Well if you're still waiting for those games or have an Amiga, you'll be pleased to learn Alpha One has released an early teaser demo for his upcoming H.E.R.O inspired remake called ' R.E.R.O '.

Black Dawn Rebirth - HOT NEWS as Double Sided Games upcoming Amiga crawler gets a demo!


An instant heads up for you all, as just moments ago Double Sided Games, have announced that they have a released a small demo for their upcoming release of ' Black Dawn Rebirth '; an Amiga game which is an eagerly awaited dungeon crawler as the 7th episode of the Black Dawn Dungeon Crawler/RPG series by Shaun Watters, Andy Campbell, Ten Shu and Mike Richmond.

CHE-MAN - The Mojon Twins announces a multi-system game bonanza!


There has been a flood of gaming news this week and we haven't finished yet, as when we checked our emails this morning, we were told of a brand new game released by The Mojon Twins called ' CHE-MAN '. Yes indeed there's more games to enjoy, but unlike the other games announced as coming to one specific system, this one has been released for not only the Amstrad CPC, but the NES and the ZX Spectrum.

Moon Patrol Redux - This version of Moon Patrol on the Atari XL/XE looks fab


In 1982-1987, Irem with licensing by Williams released the fantastically enjoyable game of' ' Moon Patrol ' for the Arcade gaming community. A side-scrolling shooter that is widely credited for the introduction of parallax scrolling in side-scrolling video games, as you drove a buggy across a landscape, jumping over ditches and rocks while also shooting at enemies both above and in front made this such a great game to play.

Train 3 - The sequel to a very challenging Atari XL/XE game


If you're looking for a challenging Atari XL/XE game then you've come to the right place! As thanks to a heads up by Saberman, not only can you still play BAHA SOFTWARE's challenging game of ' Train 2 ', but as from this month they've also announced the release of Train 3 for the Abbuc software contest. The original Train is a port of the Vlak game for IBM PCs from 1993 created by Miroslav Němeček, which in itself is a very similar game to Snake.

Happy Blocks DX - Ever challenging C64 game by The New Dimension!


If you're not interested in games inspired by MineSweeper and feel like a bit of arcade fun is more to your liking, then you might enjoy playing ' Happy Blocks DX ' by The New Dimension. Yes thanks to a heads up by Saberman, we've been told of a new C64 game whereby the aim of the game is to avoid colorful falling blocks, while also listening to a thumping tune by Richard Bayliss!

Heartlight - A charming puzzle game previewed on the Atari XL/XE -VXBE


Fabulous news if  you have an Atari XL/XE with a VXBE graphics card, as moments ago Saberman contacted us to let you guys know that Sebastian „Candle” Bartkowicz, has released an updated preview to the Arcade Puzzle game ' Heartlight '. Yes indeed a game that originally appeared in the first issue of the Atari Tajemnice magazine (in 1991) and then an extensive Amiga and PC edition with over 70 levels. Is currently being developed for the Atari VXBE by Candle and aims to be as good as the Amiga/PC version released all those years ago with many of the features intact.

Zoinho - Isometric styled ZX Spectrum game previewed


There are a lot of readers on our site that remember and have enjoyed the 1980's Isometric games from Ultimate Play the Game, such as Gunfright, Pentagram and even Knight Lore on systems such as the Amstrad, C64 or ZX Spectrum. So you can see why I just had to mention Ricardo Calaça Nunes latest ZX Spectrum game of ' 'Zoinho' ; an Isometric styled game, that is currently available to download as an early alpha preview for the ZX Spectrum 48k and above.

Donkey Trolls Preview - You've been trolled in this new C64 game preview


We don't get many Trolls on Indie Retro News thankfully, maybe the odd one waiting to kick up a storm in the thread comments. But virtually smacking a Troll in a C64 game certainly sounds like a fun experience indeed. Yes that's exactly what you do in this early preview on the C64, ' Donkey Trolls Preview ', as this game developed by LOBO, SNABEL and QOW, you need to fly to the top of the level and smack that Troll right in the snoz!

Endless Forms Most Beautiful 64 - A fantastic Arcade C64 experience


Even more great games to play through July, as thanks to a heads up by Saberman we've been told Rikib80 and team have released the Arcade styled platformer of ' Endless Forms Most Beautiful 64 ' for the Commodore 64. This game released much to the surprise of the community, is a game that is based around the 2012 PC Remake by Locomalito, which in itself was a remake of the brilliant ZX Spectrum game created by Dave Hughes in 2012.

Andy's Escape - A Challenging platformer released for the ZX Spectrum 48k


While many of you are probably baking in this heat, you might find the time to cool down with a new game to play on your ZX Spectrum called ' Andy's Escape '. This game developed using AGD by Dave Hughes (UK), puts you in the boots of Andy on a personal quest to retire early and enjoy retirement life. Beware this wont be easy however as you'll need to avoid the IRMS and Isotope enemies while also collecting that final paycheck!

Great Green Adventure 2: Prologue - A very chippy Atari 8bit game comes 1st at Lost Party 2019


If you're looking for a nice game to play with a very cool soundtrack, then you might be interested in playing Dely and Zlews latest Atari 8bit game ' Great Green Adventure 2: Prologue '. which came first in the Lost Party 2019 Wild Competition. This game according to the detailed info, puts you in control of Greg, who has just started a new job as a Ghostbuster! Help your girlfriend Shazzypants, avoid touching the deadly ghosts, and find the items needed to stop the ghosts from turning your Girlfriends home into dust.

Yamo Revenge - Action platformer featuring the protagonist from Bruce Lee (WIP)


We've certainly featured the 1984 game of Bruce Lee more than a few times this year, especially with games such as Eel Ecurb announced for the Atari XL/XE. But now we look towards something slightly different for our retro kicks, as Yaron Nir has released an early work in progress version of his upcoming game called ' Yamo Revenge '; An Atari 8bit game which features the protagonist Yamo from Bruce Lee!
