Earok's Scorpion Engine is certainly going to be the go to for game developers on the Amiga, as we've already had a number of teasers throughout the year so far, such as the Street Fighter 2 tech demo, the upcoming Owl game by czorny and even Creeping Me Out Hex Night. It certainly puts Backbone and Redpill to shame that's for sure! Well now there's another game that's worth keeping an eye on and again using the Scorpion Engine, is DomKid's Amiga platformer; a game which has been teased as the first test with the Scorpion engine, and the pixel art of Nauris Amatnieks!
A family friendly Owl game gets another Amiga wip tease
Another day and another Amiga news heads up, as we've recently been informed via Per Ola, that the upcoming Owl game, which is being developed by czorny, has just got another WIP video tease. This game which has been mentioned by us many times before, is a fun for all the family Amiga title, which doesn't just feature charming detail of lush woodlands and bonus levels, but different enemy types, collectable items, and much much more that's sure to come!
Another Street Fighter project but this time using the Scorpion Engine on the Amiga?
The Scorpion Engine is becoming the go to development tool for the Amiga, as not only can you create some pretty decent looking games, but unlike other software creation tools such as BackBone they don't run at a snails pace on anything but a power house of an Amiga. Thankfully one such creator shows what could be possible although don't expect this one to be a full time project, is Federico Nisoli's demo'd Street Fighter; a game which originally appeared on the Arcades, and was then ported to pretty much every system you could think of, including such systems as the Amiga (poorly), Atari St and even the ZX Spectrum.
Flighty Fox - Flappy Bird clone on your Amiga A500 and up as a sample game for the Scorpion Engine
Say hello to probably one of the most rage worthy game experiences of the past, a game so frustrating you'll not just be tapping but probably punching the screen in frustration. Yet it's still incredibly addictive even today! Well thanks to both Saberman and idpixel.ru who announced that the game was out, you can now play another Flappy Bird clone on your Amiga 500 and up called ' Flighty Fox '; A Parallax sample game for the rather impressive in dev Scorpion Engine
A new WIP Commodore Amiga platformer from NEESO Games gets another beta update
It was only just recently on Indie Retro News that we informed you about the beta release of NeesoGames unnamed platformer; an upcoming Amiga game that features charming detail which is being created using Earok's Scorpion Engine. Well today thanks to an early heads up from Per Ola, we have been told that this game which has been tested on an Amiga 500 1mb and up, has just got a new beta which is more feature packed compared to the one we mentioned the other day.
The Scorpion Engine - The next best creation tool for the Amiga gets an update
As most of you are aware, there are different ways to create Amiga games, either through Amos, Blitz Basic, RedPill or through the rather lackluster Backbone. But one such engine is making its presence known, and that's Earok's Scorpion engine; a constantly updated piece of software that gives developers the tools to create graphically impressive games, running at decent frame rates even on the lowest spec'd Amigas.
A family friendly Owl game coming to an Amiga near you!
Earok's Scorpion engine is certainly the next best thing for Amiga creation, as we've already featured a number of decent looking games such as Creeping Me Out Hex Night, Pitfall 2 and even NEESO Games as of yet unnamed platformer. Well anyway here we are with yet another Scorpion engine developed game, as Per Ola has shown us this work in progress title by czorny; A new Amiga game which looks like it could be lots of fun with the entire family in mind.
A new Commodore Amiga platformer is coming from NEESO Games
Amiga Bill said to me the other day with a chuckle that yesterdays news is old news already, and yes when it comes to the Amiga mentions throughout this year so far, I completely agree with him! Well anyway here's a new game which looks like it could be good fun when it gets an eventual release on the Commodore Amiga, is NEESO GAMES upcoming Platformer which is being developed using Earok's Scorpion Engine.
The Scorpion Engine - The next best creation tool for the Amiga?
As most of you are aware, there are different ways to create Amiga games, either through Amos, Blitz Basic, RedPill or through the rather lackluster Backbone. But one such engine is making its presence known, and that's Earok's upcoming Scorpion engine; a nifty piece of software that at some point will allow other users to create great games as 50HZ on A500...Or as in the case of the latest Tales of Gorluth conversion and other footage shown through this year so far, the possibility of creating higher end games with smooth scrolling even on lower end machines.
Alex Kidd teased as an updated test of the Scorpion Engine
Zelda Fan Game - Scorpion Engine testing on the Commodore Amiga
We've featured many Zelda fan games over the years from Zelda Parallel Worlds to Beyond Hyrule to name but a few, but unlike those games however this one is slightly special. As thanks to Earok, he has announced the first showing of the Scorpion Engine for the Commodore Amiga; a new engine as a remake of the tiny part of the open source Zelda fan game "Return of the Hylian" (by Vincent Jouillat).
