Tetris for the Atari 8-Bit by Eric Carr entered into the BASIC 10Liner Contest 2024

Another Tetris game has appeared that's worthy of a mention on Indie Retro News, as we were recently informed through Facebook, that Eric Carr has released the FastBasic 4.6 programmed Atari XL/XE game of 'Tetris'. A clone of the NES version which was entered into the BASIC 10Liner Contest 2024 under the EXTREM-256 category. To coincide with this news, Saberman has provided a video showing the game being played.

Tetris 1200 (AGA) - The 1988 Arcade version of Tetris for the Commodore Amiga

If you remember the 1980's hit game of Tetris then you'll be pleased to know that as of this morning, we have been informed that JOTD finally released the 1988 Arcade version of Tetris for the Commodore Amiga 1200. As in the words of the creator "A transcode of Atari Tetris arcade version for 68020/AGA amiga, music is kind of emulated, missing some drums & sfx but it's still really good!". To coincide with this news, not only can you play this awesome looking port right now via itch io, but Saberman has also provided some new gameplay footage too.

Tetris 1200 (AGA) - The 1988 Arcade version of Tetris is coming to the Commodore Amiga!

The 1984 game of Tetris has been mentioned many times on Indie Retro News, with new versions of the game being re-released on the Amstrad CPC, C16, Plus/4 and ZX Spectrum. Well here's another version of the game that is sure to be enjoyed by many that still love this game even today, as JOTD is developing Tetris for the Commodore 1200 as a port from the 1988 Arcade game by Atari Games. To coincide with this news, not only can you play a very early Alpha demo that's missing sound, but Saberman has provided a video of this early development.

Tetris Recoded - This latest version of Tetris by RetroBytes looks super cool!

It's time to move away from the Platform genre and look towards classic Puzzle games for our retro fun, as if you loved the 1984 game of Tetris, you'll be pleased to know that as of today, you can download the very latest Tetris game of 'Tetris Recoded' by RetroBytes. A recoded version which came first at the Mixed Game Competition at LuheCon³! To coincide with this news, we have some footage of the game which gives us a glimpse at the improved graphics, playability, and different music compared to the original 1988 C64 game by Mirrorsoft.

FITRIS - Yet another Tetris ZX Spectrum clone makes an appearance

If you loved that classic game of Tetris or the 1989 game of Columns , you'll be pleased to know a brand new puzzle game inspired by those games has been released for the ZX Spectrum called 'FITRIS by Fitosoft. As the creator says on the website "Yet another version of one of the most intelligent, original, impressive and outstanding games of all times". Another Amstrad news story for you all as they just keep on coming, as thanks to a heads up from our good friend XeNoMoRPH through our Indie Retro News inbox. We've been told that if you really enjoyed the 1984 game of Tetris or the 1989 game of Columns, then as of right now you can enjoy Amstrad ESP(ESP SOFT) latest Columns based game of 'CPC Jewels' for the Amstrad CPC. Tetris dotBAS - A new Tetris clone for the Amstrad CPC with a pre-release download

If you loved the 1984 game of Tetris or the 1989 game of Columns , you'll be pleased to know a brand new puzzle game inspired by those games has been teased as a pre-release download for the Amstrad CPC developed by Francesc Alcaucer. This game as a heads up by a good friend of ours and named as 'Tetris dotBAS', is not only a Tetris clone that's still in development made with Locomotive Basic for the Amstrad CPC computers, but it also supports one to two players competing against each other for that top score.

Retrobloc CPC - An 80's Block Out inspired Amstrad CPC game by krappygamez

Even more Amstrad news to get through thanks to a heads up by both Saberman and XeNoMoRPH, as we've recently been informed you can now download the 80's Block Out inspired Amstrad CPC game of Retrobloc CPC; A new game by krappygamez in which you need to rotate and drop different shaped blocks from the top to fill all the grids below. Basically think of the classic game of Tetris but viewed from a top down perspective!

From Below - A great Tetris style game recently released for the NES is coming to the Game Boy

As trawling through Facebook today, we have found out that the previously released NES game of ' From Below '; a game which gained positive feedback such as "This NES title was a great surprise", is now being developed for the Gameboy! As in the words of the creator Matt Hughson " I've started porting my NES game From Below to the Game Boy, shown here is the GB Color version running on Super Game Boy with a custom border".

Tetris 2K21 - A new version of Tetris stemming from the 1990 Vortex team build arrives on the C16 & Plus/4

Oh joy of joys, if you loved the 1984 game of Tetris or the 1989 game of Columns , you'll be pleased to know a brand new puzzle overhaul of Tetris by Csabo and KiCHY has been released for the C16 and Plus/4 as Tetris 2k21. This excellent game that was originally released by Vortex Team back in 1990 is not only an improved version of the original with NES Tetris rules, but it features a brand new game code, new graphics (thanks to KiCHY), full SID support, and most everything else has been replaced!

Pillars - A Columns clone released for the ZX Spectrum by Under4mhz

Columns, Tetris and Puyo Puyo styled games are certainly back in fashion, especially with games being announced such as From Below, Landfill, and even the gameboy inspiration of Into the Blue. Well one game that's worthy of a mention and is coming in late Nov 2020 and possibly early December, is the upcoming game of 'Fantasy Puzzle'; a new Intellivision game by CoteGamers that is sure excite fans of that classic game Puyo Puyo.
