PCMCIA angle connector and SD to CF adaptor Amiga update

Something different for today's update although it still revolves around the Amiga, is two important updates regarding specific hardware and drivers that makes life just that little bit easier for the Amiga community. The first one is Grzegorz Kraszewski's PCMCIA angle connector, or KA37 for short. Which is a 90 degree angle connector that makes it easier for mounting or connecting PCMCIA cards in Amiga towers. Developed through 5 PCB revisions and over 4 months, the developer has said it fits in tower designs, where there is no space between the case bottom and the Amiga mainboard and is both solid and durable.

More Amiga news this evening as Toni Wilen has finally come out of hibernation and released another WinUAE Amiga emulator beta update. This one has a huge changelog, perhaps the biggest one yet ! So if you fancy testing and reporting bugs, give this one a try, it will surely keep you busy!

Heroes Rescue! - Defecto Digital's next Amstrad CPC game gets an update

We haven't heard much from Defecto Digital lately, creators of ELF which was an adventure based on the arcade version released by Ocean Software in 1992, But on Sunday they had shown off a new update from ' Heroes Rescue! ' with a new graphical upgrade. Developed using AGD and starring the famous character FRY from Futurama, this is an arcade platformer, in which you need to avoid enemies, jump across platforms, and rescue the legendary Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles and their master Splinter!

Giana Sisters: Special Edition - Enhanced edition for the Amiga gets a 2nd update!

Bit of a late one this, as I was very busy at the time, but Earok, who does those damn fine CD32 releases, has once again teased the ' Giana Sisters: Special Edition ', which is an Enhanced edition for the Amiga that is currently in development. A revamp of the very well known platformer of 'Great Giana Sisters', from 1987, is getting a bit of a make over, as not only will it be using graphics ported from the DS version, but as this latest progress 2 update shows, a lot of original graphics and palettes from an artist known as Tsak.

Indie Retro News RSS Feed - Taken down for the time being

Please note that during this week it has come to our attention that a number of sites have been stealing our write ups and claiming them as their own, while redirecting the links to less than safe products. It turned out however, it wasn't through the main site but through our RSS feed, pretty much word for word including pictures appeared elsewhere. This was most likely a BOT, but at the time we can't be too sure. Until such time this can be avoided or through an IP ban, the RSS feed will remain down. Can all readers please use www.indieretronews.com, and await more awesome articles after I'm back from seeing the family. Thank you :)

Scourge of the Underkind - In development Amiga game gets new UI footage!

Although we have only just found out today, the current in development Amiga game of ' Scourge of the Underkind ' has once again been shown off to the community but this time with some brand new footage. Developed by Wayne Ashworth and game engine that has been designed by Magnus, Scourge of the Underkind is a top down shooter that has the flavour of the Amiga game chaos engine, while also looking a little bit like gauntlet.

Caren and the Tangled Tentacles - An impressive adventure for the C64 gets an easyflash tease!

Last year we gave you the heads up for PriorArt's high quality adventure homebrew of ' Caren and the Tangled Tentacles ' for the C64. At the time we rated it as one of the best adventure games by a homebrew developer in a LucasArts style. It had great scene detail, lovely character animation, an easy to use control scheme and a great soundtrack. Well that same game has once again appeared in our footage news feed, but this time as a teased internal experimental Easyflash version of Caren, which shows a much faster almost non existing loading time between each scene.

WinUAE 3.3.0 Beta 9 - The latest Amiga emulator release, but with improved performance?

I was starting to wonder when we'd see another Amiga emulator beta release from Toni Wilen and sure enough just yesterday, he released ' WinUAE 3.3.0 Beta 9 '. Although this isn't a big update in the grand scheme of things, it does have one interesting feature and that is OS4.x UAE trap mode using hybrid busy wait mode, which according to Toni improves performance. One such user by the name of Aegis has already tried it and noted a 8 frame rate increase in Quake. So head on over to the download link, and let us know if it does the same on your system!

RESHOOT: A new Amiga shoot´em-up coming 2016 is playable on a real A1200!

Another game that was mentioned and one I think might be a bit of hit with the Amiga gamers, is Richard Lowenstein, Adam Morten and Kevin Saunders Shoot em up ' RESHOOT ', which hopefully is coming this year to the A1200, A4000 and CD32. Although it was said to be coming to these systems before it wasn't until this month that the developers officially announced the game was working on real hardware with just 2 MB of RAM!

WinUAE 3.3.0 Beta 7 - More bug fixes for the best Amiga emulator!

On a more positive note for the Amiga community, considering the news of Dave Needle's passing. Toni Wilen has released the latest Amiga emulator 32bit and 64bit update of ' WinUAE 3.3.0 Beta 7', with even more bug fixes and improvements over from the previous version. As we missed the other versions in our news postings, this is a bigger update than usual and from the look of it, we can't be that far off a final 3.3.0.

26,964,623 Views - A new milestone for Indie Retro News!

Every so often I like to check the total view count to see how we are doing, and today I was overjoyed to see that we have hit a massive 26,964,623 in total views since we began over three years ago. That's over Twenty-Six Million views, which for an Indie and Retro website is pretty impressive and it's all thanks to you the reader and other friendly retro sites that keeps coming back and also spreading our news far and wide. In fact our site is actually global as we get readers from the USA, UK, Canada, China, Germany, France, Poland, Italy, Spain, Australia, Greece and even Sweden, with a vast majority coming from the USA! Sam's Journey - Knights of Bytes latest C64 game gets a first look cartridge!

As many of you know for some time now we've kept a keen eye on Knights of Bytes rather special in development platformer ' Sam's Journey ' which is coming to the C64. But this time we have been informed by RetroNerd that the developer has shown off the very first prototype of the cartridge that may be the precursor to the commercial product when it's released at some point this year. In fact it isn't just any cartridge but in joining forces with Individual Computers they have created one that not only has the game on it but is also able to save your progress!

Zerosphere - A very squint Amiga game gets a Flashtro trainer!

Another Amiga game to mention that's received a Flashtro trainer is ' Zerosphere', the winner of the Interactive Competition at Evok 2015 and final released at the very end of last year 2015. As we said before here, in this game you play as a little orange character called Squinty who's just had his universe transformed by the evil Odak. You will either throw up or continue playing as this is the strangest game for a very long time that changes before your very eyes!

Sam's Journey - Knights of Bytes latest C64 game turns into a Vampire!

Nearly every day so far, I've been thinking out loud what is going on with Sam's Journey and why haven't we had any new information about this jaw dropping C64 game in development. And sure enough today my waiting has ended. As Knights of Bytes has just informed us of a new gameplay trailer with screenshots that has been released which stars Sam as a sharp toothed Vampire ready to fly about and suck your blood.

Steve Kups from the Byteriders (Heroes & Cowards) has passed away :(

With all the news that we've had today, we did not expect this sadness to appear in our inbox, as we have been informed by Retro-Nerd of EAB that Steve Kups from Byteriders has passed away from the consequences of a heart attack on 26.12.2015. For those of you who don't know of Steve Kups, he was also behind the unreleased C64 graphical adventure of ' Heroes & Cowards ' which last year celebrated a triumphant comeback on the Commodore 64 in cooperation with Out of Order Softworks and Protovision to finally release this most wanted of adventure games. RIP Steve Kups and thanks for a cool adventure game! ( Details )
