King’s Quest VI AGI Demake - An Atari ST fan-made AGI re-creation of Sierra On-Line’s King’s Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow

I very rarely do news stories about games that have only just appeared on IndieRetroNews, but today's an exception. As we've just found out through Twitter, that the previously released game of King’s Quest VI AGI Demake - A fan-made AGI re-creation of Sierra On-Line’s King’s Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow. Has been made available for the Atari ST! An Atari ST version which was built by Marko / Atarimania, by copying the PC version files and AGI Quest I ST launcher together with original PC creation by Brandon Kouri.

What a fantastic year this is turning out to be for game announcements and releases, as we have just found out through Facebook, that if you remember playing the hit Adventure classic of King’s Quest VI: Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow by Sierra On-Line. Then you'll be pleased to know that after 18 years worth of development, Brandon Kouri has released the King’s Quest VI AGI Demake! A high quality fan-made AGI re-creation which is available to download below.

Inding of BaasIc - A krappy demake for the spectrum 48k, entirely written in ZX Basic.


Way back in 2011 many of us had the pleasure of playing Edmund McMillen's 'Binding of Isaac'; a randomly generated action RPG shooter with heavy Rogue-like elements, which followed Isaac on his journey finding bizarre treasures, that change Isaac’s form giving him super human abilities and enabling him to fight off droves of mysterious creatures. Alex Kidd in Pico World - A fabulous Alex Kidd demake for the Pico8 virtual console

While many of you are probably looking forward to playing the upcoming Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX which is coming to PC, and features all the best parts of the original game plus new animations, graphical detail and gameplay improvements. There's another version that might interest you, although more suited for those of you who like demakes and the Pico-8. Is Domarius's Alex Kidd in Pico World; a miniaturized version of the game featuring almost everything from the original recreated in the limitations of the Pico-8  64x64 Console!

Misifu Remeow - If you loved the 1980's classic of Alley Cat, you'll love this ZX Spectrum demake!

It's time for some great ZX Spectrum news, as we have just been informed through Facebook that Jordi has released an overhauled version of his ZX Spectrum game 'Misifu Remeow'; a game that was previously released via the ZX-DEV MIA remake competition as a demake of the classic game 'Alley Cat'. For those of you who haven't heard of this game before, the original was released on the Atari 8bit in 1983 and MS-DOS in 1984 by Bill Williams and published by Synapse Software, and puts you in control of Freddy the Cat on a challenging mission to rescue his Cat love, Felicia.

FUZ - PICO-8 Puzzle Platformer demake of FEZ (Playable Online)


FEZ which is a Puzzle Platformer, was released way back in 2012-2013 on both Xbox 360 and Windows Steam as a game developed by Polytron Corporation in which featured a rather unusual rotating design as your character can explore a 3D world in certain 2D perspectives. This game which gathered favourable reviews has made an appearance this week in our inbox, but instead of being the original we remember, is instead a new Pico-8 Demake that has been developed and released by Henry Stadolnik.

LIMBO C64 - Modern Indie game as a work in progress on the C64 gets a rotten meat teaser!


We haven't featured this work in progress C64 game lately, but you'll be pleased to know the modern indie game ' Limbo ' as a C64 game, has been teased again but this time with a rather meaty preview teaser! What was originally a proof of concept by the creator Søren Trautner Madsen and backing of Playdead, looks to be going into a long term project, as not only did the developer release a preview demo last year but it now has clear sound effects keeping that horror overtone intact.

It's time for some ZX Spectrum news now as we have just been told via our Twitter feed, that Jordi has released a beta update to his in-development Alley Cat Demake, which is coming to the ZX Spectrum via the ZX-Dev MIA remake competition. Some time back we announced that Bill Williams and published by Synapse Softwares 'Alley Cat' for the Atari 8bit in 1983 and MS-DOS in 1984 was coming to the ZX Spectrum as a port by Destr with as much of the original gameplay intact. Sadly that conversion became MIA and it was down to Jordi to take the reigns and give us that much needed conversion/demake which was announced via the ZX-Dev MIA remake competition. Well you'll be pleased to know unlike that version the demake has come along well enough for the creator to release a small beta demo.

Picoh Mummy! - A Pico-8 Demake of classic CPC Oh Mummy!


One of the fondest remembered games to anyone rocking a CPC464 back in the day was Oh Mummy! A game that was bundled for many of the computers sold (in the UK at least) and left impressions on many original owners through to this day. One such person was one of Road software, and together they have created a De-Make of the original onto the Pico-8 virtual console.

X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter: Attack on the Death Star - Pico-8 demake of a PC classic


Back in the day, X-Wing vs Tie Fighter was one of the best games in the PC space sim genre... and a Star wars game at that! Excellent graphics, brilliant dogfight mechanics and great mission design. It improved upon the previous X-Wing game but by allowing a choice of flying for the Rebel Alliance or the Empire. Farming Simulator as a demake for the C64?


We already know that there is a work in progress demake of Portal AND Limbo coming to the C64. But did you know there might also be a demake of Farming Simulator coming aswell? Well thankfully going by the latest Facebook post by Rushing Pixel this might be the case, as recently they announced with a rather vague image, the game is coming and will be available first in the collectors edition.

Bio Evil 4 - Resident Evil 4 demake as a platform shooter


Delunky and Metro Cop aren't the only games to come out from the Demake 2018 competition, as we've just come across a game called ' Bio Evil 4 ', which from the look of it, is a demake of the early 2000 capcom third person horror Resident Evil 4, but is completely free to play in your browser supporting keyboard and controller inputs.

If you remember pointing a plastic gun at the Arcades or at home towards the TV blasting away enemies on the screen, then chances are you would've played the many lightgun games available at the time such as Time Crisis or even Time Gal. Well if you have then you'll be pleased to know as of this moment you can download HelpComputer's rather special game of ' Metro Cop ' which is a demake of the classic Sega arcade game Virtua Cop, and made for the 2018 Demake Jam!

Alex Kidd in Pico World - An almost complete Alex Kidd demake!


It's a Friday and what an awesome way to end the week as I've just come across a demake that is sure to excite even the most purist of retro gamer. Now I'm sure many of you have played Alex Kidd; a fantastic side scrolling platformer released for the Sega Master System console in 1987, which was also built into most Master System II's. But how would you like to play an almost complete demake, but released for the Pico8? You would good! Because read on as this is a very impressive release indeed!

Mighty Final Fight - A special Demake announced for the ZX Dev2017 compo!


The ZX Dev competition is really heating up now especially with games such as Gandalf, Starforce/Megaforce, Saving Kong and Gimmick! Yumetaro Odyssey, all aiming for a percentage of that massive prize 741€ and a cassette of Thrust for the ZX Spectrum. But today as a heads up via our Twitter page, sanchez has announced for the ZX-Dev Conversions compo he is doing a "demake" of the Final Fight NES spin off game as Mighty Final Fight!

PicoBreed - Alien Breed from the 90's gets a Pico-8 Demake


What do you get if you mix the movie Aliens with an Amiga top down shooter styled to that of Gauntlet? You'd probably get Alien Breed, which was released in 1991 by Team 17 as a fantastic action packed game, that required you to blast away Alien swarms while also trying to find that lift shaft down to the next level. Well if you remember that game, I know I do, you'll be pleased to know gabrielcrowe has done a demake of the game on the Pico-8 as a fun homage to the original.

Lucius Demake - Modern horror remade to almost look like a C64 game!


Well this isn't something you see every day, especially as a commercial release on Steam. As a developer by the name of Shiver Games Ltd has completely de-made both the trailer and the entire game of ' Lucius ', which was originally released as a third person horror in 2012. Now known as ' Lucius Demake ', this is a reimagining of the original Lucius game, made to look as if it is actually from the late 80s, complete with 2D pixel graphics and 16 colours. From the colour tones and top down graphics, you'd almost think it was a C64 game!

A Doukutsu Demake - Cave Story de-made on the Pico-8 and it's good!


In 2004 we had the pleasure of playing the rather enjoyable Dōkutsu Monogatari also known as Cave Story for the PC. A 2D platform adventure, developed over 5 years by Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya, featured action, a compelling story and gameplay, in which you play as a little guy in a cave on a quest to defeat the evil Doctor, who has world domination on his mind. It was a great and fun game that had multiple ports and even later had an enhanced version. So you'll be pleased to know that a fan developer by the name of howlermiller has done a Doukutsu Demake for the Pico-8, which is also playable in your browser!

Alone in the Pico - Alone in the Dark gets an impressive Pico-8 demake!


The above screenshot might not look like much in the grand scheme of things, but this is actually a rather impressive Pico-8 demake of the hit classic ' Alone in the Dark ' which was first released for the PC by Infogrames way back in 1992. An original game that not only appeared in the Guinness World Records as the first ever 3D survival horror game in the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition 2008 edition, but it was also the first of two games to use polygonal characters over pre-rendered backgrounds. An all time classic indeed, but the news of today is a developer by the name of NuSan has done a small demake for the Pico-8, and it is now called ' Alone in the Pico '.
