Super 48K Box - Action platformer demake appears on the ZX Spectrum

With the recent opening of the WorldofSpectrum forums after a long downtime, it's no wonder we are now seeing a rush of ZX Spectrum titles to grace our retro gaming screens. From the incredible Stormfinch, to the latest release of the Hobbit 128K, there hasn't been a period this week we haven't had a great homebrew title to play. So without further-ado it's time to announce another ZX Spectrum Demake in the form of 'Super 48K Box' by andrewvanbeck ; an unofficial demake of Super Crate Box by Vlambeer.

Dead Flesh Boy - Meat Boy demake for the ZX Spectrum!

As if this week couldn't get any better, as Andrew Vanbeck of the World of Spectrum forum's has just announced the release of 'Dead Flesh Boy'; a ZX Spectrum demake of the highly challenging gory game ' Meat Boy '. Originally released in 2010 onwards for the PC and XBOX, you play as a cube-shaped character called Meat Boy, who must save his girlfriend Bandage Girl from the evil scientist Dr. Fetus. Avoid saw blades, falling blocks and other obstacles while running and jumping across multiple platforms and avoiding a horrific bloody death.

Eye of the Beholder - Dungeon Crawler homebrewed for C64!

As I was trawling the internet looking for a decent dungeon crawler soundtrack, I came across a set of Eye of the Beholder releases that piqued my interest. Although we have featured pretty much every one of them so far, I did not expect to come across an Eye of the Beholder remake for C64. First released by Instinct in 2006 and stalled development through 2011, Eye of the Beholder 1 C64 features an impressive smooth grid based movement which I had not seen before on such an old system such as this.

Wicked Witch - Cauldron Demake for Flappy Bird (Browser Based)

Ah "Cauldron", what a game that was, flying about the game on your broom shooting bats and jumping platforms while avoiding baddies. Hard to believe it was released in 1985 for the ZX Spectrum, C64 and Amstrad CPC. But today we are going to feature "Wicked Witch", which is a Cauldron demake turned into another Flappy Bird clone. Now I hate Flappy Bird but what I really liked about this demake was the ZX Spectrum loading screen and how well the clone looks and plays in it's witchy way. The aim of the game, tap to keep your witch in flight, but watch out for the pipes or it's game over!

Super Jump Man - Super Mario's Demake via Mini Ludum Dare 50

What do you get if you push Super Mario through a Demake Mini Ludum Dare 50 blender, you'll get Super Jumpman from Zatyka. This Demake is full of fun things to do and Mario has a special trick up his sleeve, he can hop from one wall to another. But as is always the case with Mario games, there are baddies to contend with, and traps to avoid, but that shouldn't be a problem for the Mario pro's out there.  All in all it's a fun game but I felt it was laggy at times on this Mac and even though there is a button to run, my character wouldn't. But for being free and browser based, I can't complain too much.
