Metal Slug on the Atari STE looks mighty impressive as a Mission 1 port!

I can say for sure there's probably not many of you that haven't heard of 'Metal Slug', a game in a series of games that are well known in the gaming community, going back to the days of the Neo Geo system. This game has plenty of humor, while remaining action packed throughout. In fact it was so much fun and still is, that a fan by the name of masteries had developed a Metal Slug (Mission 1) port for the Atari STE; an Atari development that runs at a rather smooth 50 frames per second with very few slowdowns!

According to the site write up, not only is this is the definitive Metal Slug (Mission 1) port for the Atari STE, but it features up to 70 colors on screen, using a single 16 colour palette, thanks to a technique called "complementary dithering", 652 KB of digital sampled audio, makes use of STE specific hardware features, developed using EMX2 sprite format, a high performance blitter based sprite format of AGT engine that lets usage of giant sprites, up to 256 pixels wide for a single blitter span, with an excellent performance, up to 3 voices at 12.5KHz, 3MB of graphics data, support for custom enabled gamepads and all of this programmed in C language from scratch using DML´s Atari Game Tools (AGT) game engine.
