Beat 'em up - Fighter Dev Comp 2020 - 8bit developers it's time to start creating games!

Glorious news if you're looking for new games to play in 2020 or hoping to prove your development skills, as we've just been told by BitmapSoft, that in special collaboration with Puddle Soft, they are now running a new Beat 'em up/Fighter dev competition for 8-bit computers such as the Atari XL/XE, Amstrad, BBC MICRO, C64, or even the ZX Spectrum. So basically if you want to create a game in the style of Streets of Rage/Double Dragon or Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat, then is just the competition for you! - See details below -

Competition Rules

  • The game can be on any 8-Bit computer but must be either one of the game styles mentioned above.
  • Any programming language or game maker software may be used.
  • Graphics and audio resources need not be original, but must be free of copyright issues or at least you own them.
  • The deadline is 00h00 (GMT), JULY 1st 2020
  • PAL must be supported,  NTSC support is optional but prefered.
  • Games for each platform will be judged separately according to a public poll.
  • For each target platform, a prize will be awarded to the game with most votes.
  • Each game created should be created with the idea of working on real hardware, with the option to publish the winner on Cassette Tape, Disk or even Cartridge. Cassette Tape being our preferred option.
  • Members of the judging panel *can* enter games themselves, but cannot vote on their own creations.
  • Submissions open from Today at 12:00 AM to July 1st 2020 at 12:00 AM
