Ask anyone about Lemmings, and their first memories, would probably be about a bunch of blue and green haired Lemmings that could be blown up, ripped apart and dropped from the highest of points before they even hope to reach that exit. So why is that great game getting another mention on Indie Retro News? Well at some point in the near future, it looks as if Jörg Karwath and team will be releasing an enhanced version of Lemmings for the C64. Although do be aware that while there are numerus tweets about the game, we don't as of yet have any full details.
LEMMINGS RELOADED for the #C64. 121 levels - all the classics from multiple systems, new gfx themes and many C64 exclusives. A new achievement mechanic and funky Juke box to enjoy. We will be at Zzap! Live! with a beautiful cart version to show off! :) pic.twitter.com/BSRrzl37b7

Here's what we gathered from the tweets so far. Not only is this fan remake called Lemmings Reloaded, with programming by Jörg Karwath. But it also features over 121 themed levels, such as a jungle and demonic underground with pixel art from The Wilds creator @JohnHen65953721, fantastic music by @Nordischsound, new themes and C64 exclusives, and 1351 mouse support. And that's all we know so far but as soon as we know more, expect further updates this year right here on IndieRetroNews.

looove it !
ReplyDeleteCrazy how good it looks! Simply beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow, this has a charm all it's own on C64, love the music too. Wonderful stuff!
ReplyDeleteThe tune in top video is a cover of Jean-Michel Jarre's Equinoxe, part 4 from 1978. :)
ReplyDelete2nd tune is from Final Fantasy 7
DeleteShould of taken the original music. Whats with the lame covers? Game looks better as the original though.
DeleteSo is this going to be having the stages from Lemmings,or Oh no! More Lemmings, or all new levels? Looks like they've went with designing their very own? At least I don't remember those two from the videos. Wish it was the original music too, but that's all okay, this may actually be the best Lemmings on the C64, easily!
ReplyDeleteAgreed, also vote for the orginal music.
DeleteIs that the real actual ingame music in the videos??? Who made it? The sounddesign is awesome!
ReplyDeleteAutomated covers, original music would've been better
DeleteYeah it's automated midi->sid something like that, that guy does it 13 a dozen
DeleteIt's more beautiful than on the Amiga!
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly not as good as on Amiga, the scrolling is slow, music not as good, and flickering + slowdowns with more lemmings on screen. But yeah, probably good as a C64 version, I dont remember did the C64 get also a version in the 90's , and if so, how does this version compare to it.
ReplyDeleteLemmings C64 was released very late in the C64's life, I think it was 94/95! Very good game, but did also have slow scrolling. https://youtu.be/lTKmyqqugG0 - As for this version, graphically it's superior compared to the C64 version. So think of it as an enhanced version. Also it's still in development, so likely to have any issues you've mentioned fixed. I don't think it's supposed to be as good as the Amiga version ;)
