Lemmings - An all time classic has arrived on the Pico-8 by Buzzard, and it's seriously good!

Well this is incredible news, as if you own a PICO-8, which is a virtual machine and game engine created by Lexaloffle Games. Then you'll be pleased to know that Buzzard has successfully ported Lemmings to the PICO-8. This impressive demake features all 100 levels from the original NES release, while drawing heavy aesthetic inspiration from the beloved Amiga and SNES versions. Players can expect faithful gameplay mechanics, adorable pixel art, and a catchy, nostalgic soundtrack as they guide the green-haired creatures to safety.

Lemmings Reloaded - This enhanced version of a classic looks awesome for the C64 and it's coming next month!

Ask anyone about Lemmings, and their first memories, would probably be about a bunch of blue and green haired Lemmings that could be blown up, ripped apart and dropped from the highest of points before they even hope to reach that exit. So why is that great game getting another mention on Indie Retro News? Well late next month it looks as if Jörg Karwath and team will be releasing an enhanced version of Lemmings for the C64. A new version that can be seen in the very latest footage provided below.

Wonder Boy Remake - A fabulous remake for the Amstrad 128k is teased again with some demo footage!

One such game I used to love was that fantastic platformer ' Wonder Boy ' designed by Ryuichi Nishizawa. A game which started its life as a skateboarding rock jumping and axe bashing platformer, that later became the adventure platformer with RPG elements Wonderboy in Monsterland. And it's the original Wonderboy which is getting an announcement, as thanks to the creator Benjamin Yoris@BenYoris letting us know, the classic skateboarding platformer which many of us still love to this day, is still coming to the Amstrad CPC as a much improved 128k version!

Head-On - A Clone of the original dot-munching arcade game for the ZX Spectrum by Indigobeetle

The homebrew wave continues to deliver through itch io as a brand-new adaptation of Sega’s classic 1979 arcade game Head-On has appeared on the Sinclair ZX Spectrum by Indigobeetle. This latest release faithfully recreates the frantic, high-stakes driving mechanics of the legendary vintage coin-op title, providing Speccy players with an authentic slice of pre-Pac-Man arcade history right on their classic home speccy. OpenRCT2 project - Open-Source adaption of RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 reaches v0.5.1

I'm sure many of you remember the awesome game that is RollerCoaster Tycoon 2; a game by Chris Sawyer and published by Infograms in which you manage your very own theme park, with all its rides, shops, puking guests and economic fortune. Well you'll be pleased to know that as of just recently you can download the very latest build of OpenRCT2: An open source development which improves the game even further with new features, original bug fixes, raised game limits and much more!

Deuteros Resurrected - Strategy PC remake of a classic Amiga/Atari ST game is in the works, first milestone reached!

We haven't featured a PC remake of Ian Bird's Amiga/Atari ST Strategy game Deuteros for awhile, especially as a number of announced remakes of this classic game have been announced and then dropped never to be seen again. Thankfully it looks as if Tony Cheetham has taken to the task, as he has recently announced the first playable milestone of a new PC remake called ' Deuteros Resurrected '. An unofficial, but faithful pixel-for-pixel remake of the original Amiga game by Ian Bird

Turmoil & Automania - Langford Productions releases two new PC games remade from ZX Spectrum classics!

If you've been following Richard Langford of Langford Productions, you would've known that throughout our time writing on IndieRetroNews he has released a number of remakes and remasters of some well known classics that many have grow up with, games such as PSSST, Cookie, and even The Hunch. But that isn't all that has come out of Langford, as after previously releasing the retro inspired hit of REX, he has now made not one, but two PC remasters of some great speccy classics. Games such as Automania, and Turmoil.

XZAP - A Commodore Business Machines game from 1984 arrives on the Amiga

We've been told that if you remember playing the 1984 game called 'XZAP' by Commodore Business Machines, which was released for the Commodore 16 and Plus/4. Then as of today you can download the Commodore Amiga version by Electric Black Sheep. A recreation of that classic game, whereby your objective is to destroy all the aliens on each level, and so progress through 140 different levels. Rex - A 1980's 8bit classic appears as a PC remake by Langford Productions

We've certainly had some impressive games this week and when Langford Productions told us about their new platformer remake called 'REX' which was released via itch io, it was another game to add to our awesome list. You see Rex wasn't just an awesome platformer released in the late 80's for the Amstrad and ZX Spectrum, but this is a rather awesome remake that the creator says he is particularly proud of and worthy of mention on Indie Retro News. In light of this, we've got some screenshots from the game and a video soon.

Midwinter Fan Remaster - A ground-up PC remaster of Mike Singleton's 1989 classic is in the works!

Throughout this month we've featured a number of open sourced remakes. From games such as the brilliant Transport Tycoon on the PC, to Rollercoaster Tycoon and one of my personal favorite's called Diggers.  Well thanks to a heads up via the EAB forums, it looks as if Mike Singleton's 1989 classic Midwinter is also getting a full PC remaster by DrEvil. A faithful recreation in which the creator says has blessing by Chilli Hugger (who held the remake rights).

Diggers - This PC fan-remake of a classic strategy and puzzle like Amiga/DOS game looks fantastic

Well this is fantastic news especially if you had either an Amiga or PC(DOS), as Mhatxotic is working on a remake of the classic strategy and puzzle-like game called 'Diggers'. A 90's title that was developed and published by Millennium Interactive for the Amiga and PC. A game in which the player takes control of a mining team excavating a planet for precious minerals. To coincide with this news, of which I'm excited to try out later, the developer has provided the full details below.

OpenTTD 15.0 - Open Source Transport Tycoon Deluxe gets a big 2026 update!

We haven't featured many open source games lately, so here's an update you might be interested in, is the latest open source build for Transport Tycoon Deluxe ' as 'OpenTTD 15.0 '. Although this was released at the beginning of the month and didn't appear in our inbox, I thought it still worthy of a mention especially as Transport Tycoon Deluxe by Chris Sawyer was one of the highlights on the PC in the mid 90's.  This open source version makes the game so much better especially if you enjoy running your very own transport company, such as bigger maps, stable multiplayer mode for up to 255 players in 15 companies and much much more.

Stunt Car Racer Remake - Fan based PC remake in the works of one of Geoff Crammonds finest games

Stunt Car Racer was one of the best stunt style racers for the Amiga, and one of Geoff Crammonds finest games. Yet what made it so good was not just the feeling of speed, but the thrill of accelerating into the sky and coming back down with an almighty crack, especially if you ended up missing the track altogether such as on the Ski Jump. So you can probably see why I'm just that little bit excited, as a fan by the name of omenoid and ptitSeb, has released a new PC remake of the game. A new version that was originally sourced from D. Vernon and A. Copland's version released back in 2019

Exolon - The Continuing Adventures - A retro gaming classic by Hewson gets an unofficial PC sequel!

In 1987 Hewson released ' Exolon ' for the ZX Spectrum, C64 and Amstrad CPC, with a later conversion to the Enterprise 128, Amiga and Atari ST. In the game, you played as a sci-fi soldier across multiple screens blasting away enemies and defending yourself against gun defences as well as homing missiles. Well if you remember this fine game then make sure to check out Space-Time Games latest release called 'Exolon - The Continuing Adventures'; a retro gaming classic by Hewson that has received an unofficial sequel!

The Hunch Refurbished - PC remake of the 80's classic Hunchback!

Glorious news for fans of the Arcade days and retro gaming ports as Richard Langford of Langford Productions has informed us of the release of his modern Hunchback retro remake for the PC called, ' The Hunch Refurbished'.  Originally developed by Century Electronics in 1983 and ported to other systems such as the Amstrad by Ocean, you once again play as Quasimodo and must rescue Esmerelda, while swinging over pits, the moat, avoiding arrows, fireballs and soldiers or you will fall off the walls!

Batty - A great PC remake of a classic game released by Elite Software in 1987!

Ready your paddles retro gamers, as a new game is now available to download and play on your PC by Space Time Games via itch io. This latest release called Batty, is a brand new remake of a classic that was released by Elite Software in 1987. A remake which features many levels from both the C64 and ZX Spectrum. To coincide with this news, we've got the full details of the game, as well as some gameplay footage from Saberman.

XWheels Grandslam - A PC nod to classic racing game Super Cars from the Amiga? Hell ya! [Prototype]

I'm a huge top down racer fan, but truth be told, so many are utterly rubbish. I remember playing Micro Machines, Supercars and the like, against friends and had so much fun doing so. Well we now have a new contender on the scene, with 'XWheels Grandslam' by -Corso-. And while it is just a prototype, and unsure if it will be turned into a full game, the description of "In reference to Supercars 1 & 2 on the Amiga, this could be considered a remake with more hand drawn, hand painted artwork with enhanced destructible environments and increased difficulty", caught my attention enough for an article!

Batman - Classic Isometric game by Ocean Software looks super on the Sinclair QL!

Many of you probably remember the 1980's Isometric games of Batman and Head Over Heels by Ocean Software: two great games for systems such as the Amstrad, ZX Spectrum, and the more recent MSX2 remake. So here's a great news update for fans of these games. As we have recently been told by Saberman, that Batman has been made available for the Sinclair QL. As in the words of the creator "Batman, Jon Ritman's legendary 1986 game now also for the retro-computer Sinclair QL thanks to the remake of Joan Gayón, which is freely available in various versions, for the original machine and for the emulator developed in assembly language from scratch".
