Turmoil & Automania - Langford Productions releases two new PC games remade from ZX Spectrum classics!

If you've been following Richard Langford of Langford Productions, you would've known that throughout our time writing on IndieRetroNews he has released a number of remakes and remasters of some well known classics that many have grow up with, games such as PSSST, Cookie, and even The Hunch. But that isn't all that has come out of Langford, as after previously releasing the retro inspired hit of REX, he has now made not one, but two PC remasters of some great speccy classics. Games such as Automania, and Turmoil.

Rex - A 1980's 8bit classic appears as a PC remake by Langford Productions

We've certainly had some impressive games this week and when Langford Productions told us about their new platformer remake called 'REX' which was released via itch io, it was another game to add to our awesome list. You see Rex wasn't just an awesome platformer released in the late 80's for the Amstrad and ZX Spectrum, but this is a rather awesome remake that the creator says he is particularly proud of and worthy of mention on Indie Retro News. In light of this, we've got some screenshots from the game and a video soon.

The Snowman - A PC remake of the 1980's game by Quicksilva from Langford Productions

The Hunch Refurbished - PC remake of the 80's classic Hunchback!

Glorious news for fans of the Arcade days and retro gaming ports as Richard Langford of Langford Productions has informed us of the release of his modern Hunchback retro remake for the PC called, ' The Hunch Refurbished'.  Originally developed by Century Electronics in 1983 and ported to other systems such as the Amstrad by Ocean, you once again play as Quasimodo and must rescue Esmerelda, while swinging over pits, the moat, avoiding arrows, fireballs and soldiers or you will fall off the walls!

H.E.R.O - A cool PC remake of a classic now on itch io by Langford Productions!

Heads up ' H.E.R.O' gamers! As Liqmatrix recently informed us, that 'H.E.R.O, which is a game that was released for the Atari 800/2600, ColecoVision, C64, C128, and Sinclair ZX Spectrum, has been remade for PC, and available to download through itch io by Langford Productions . A classic game which puts you in control of Roderrick Hero, on a mission to search the cave system for the trapped miners of Mount Leone. To coincide with this news, we've got some screenshots of the game below.

Manic Miner - Classic 80's platformer by Matthew Smith gets an unofficial remake by Langford Productions

We've recently been informed through our emails, that the all time classic of 'Manic Miner' by Matthew Smith, which was originally released way back in 1983, has been re-released as a rather impressive unofficial PC remake by none other than Langford Productions. The same creator behind other cool remakes such as PSSST, Cookie, The Hunch and our personal favourite nostalgic nod of Project ZX. It's incredible to think that Chuckie Egg was a game released years ago in 1983 as a game that not only appeared on the BBC Micro, but a whole string of other systems such as the Amstrad CPC, Amiga, C64 and even the ZX Spectrum. Well fast forward to today and Langford Productions who was behind the wicked retro inspired Shooter Project ZX, and the remakes of classic games such as Jumping Jack, The Hunch or even Psst, has announced the release of a modernised version of Chuckie Egg as a special gift to you all before Christmas.

Project ZX2 Jetboot Joe - A sequel to a very enjoyable ZX Spectrum inspired Shoot em up gets a release

During last year Langford Productions who was behind the Cookie, Pssst, Highway Encounter, The Hunch and even Frank N Stein remakes, released the brilliant ZX Spectrum shoot em up 'Project ZX' for home computers. It was a very unique game as it allowed you the player to blast through lots of ZX Spectrum themed levels as if you were in part playing the original ZX spectrum games themselves. Well fast forward to today and you'll be pleased to know the sequel has been released as Project ZX2 Jetboot Joe.

Highway Encounter - 80's retro shooter gets a PC remake

In 1985 Vortex Software released the puzzle shooting game ' Highway Encounter ' for the ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, MSX and Commodore 64. It was voted in the top 100 ZX Spectrum games of all time and featured not just personal lives that look like Dalek's, but the use of these extra lives to push a bomb up a hazardous highway to the Alien base to blow it up. That same game viewed in a 3D isometric perspective has now been remade for the PC by Langford Productions

Frank N Stein - Langford Productions new PC remake of a ZX Spectrum classic

We've just received word from our good friend Richard of Langford Productions, of a new PC remake that has since been released! From the creator of other remakes such as Cookie, Pssst, The Hunch and many others, this is a PC remake of the ZX Spectrum game ' Frank N Stein ', which was originally released way back in 1984 for the Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum by Personal Software Services.

Green Beret retro classic gets a 2016 PC remake footage tease!

You may or may not remember the name Langford Productions, but that developer was behind the previous enjoyable remakes such as Cookie, Pssst, Pyramid, Jumping Jack, Automania and The Hunch. Each one from the ZX Spectrum that was given a rather cartoony look, with original graphics included and made fully playable on the PC. So after all those were announced I gave Langford Productions a task, could the developer remake the famous game ' Green Beret '! Which was one of the most difficult action platformers I have ever played on the Amstrad CPC 464. Sure enough, today we got the first tease for the Green Beret Remake, and so far it's looking pretty decent!

Cookie and Pssst - Two Langford Production remakes of an Ultimate selection

Over this past week or so, we've been featuring many of Langford Productions latest remakes, which included such games as Pyramid, Jumping Jack, Automania and The Hunch (link). Each one enjoyable to play, while remaining as close as possible to the original 8bit design but with more modernised graphics. Today however after teasing us these past few days, the developer with music by Ricardo Vieira, has now moved onto the next remake in a double PC special with Cookie and Pssst. Both of these appeared on the ZX Spectrum, from the legendary company that is ' Ultimate Play the Game '

Pyramid - ZX Spectrum action shooter remade for the PC

The last Langford Productions remake to be mentioned today is the ZX Spectrum game that's been given a modern PC overhaul, ' The Pyramid '. First released in 1983 by Fantasy Software, and one of the remake developers favorite games, having written a version for the Amiga back in the 1990's. You play as Ziggy, who sits in a little bubble spaceship armed with a laser beam and must blast his way through the enemy waves, collecting diamonds to unlock the force field to move onto the next screen.

Jumping Jack - Crazy antics in this ZX Spectrum - PC Remake

Langford Productions have really kicked it up a notch for us retro gamers, as they've now released two other remakes this week and one of them is so simple to play that even youngsters could have a go! This is the brilliant ' Jumping Jack ' PC remake, the original having been released way back in 1983 by imagine Software for the ZX Spectrum.
