Even more retro goodness for you all, as we've recently been informed through John Davies who released some great games such as Road Trippin, Mage Rage and Rat A Tat, that he has released the ZX Spectrum game of Alien Slaphead; a family friendly game in which you not only play as a tiny sprite called Alien Slaphead who is trying to find his spaceship to leave the planet, but must also survive on a supply of helium as he cannot breath the natural atmosphere. To coincide with this news, Saberman has done a new gameplay video which is viewable below.

Better Late Than Never - Andy Green Pixel Art Book gets a BIG Florinthedwarf review!
Better late than never? Sounds like my train company's slogan.
It's finally here! Yes, Andy Green (or Sir Andy Green I like to call him - shoe size unknown) has at last put a collection of his amazing pixel art together in book form for us all to enjoy. No more having to log on to Facebook to see it, now it can sit handsomely on your bookshelf waiting for you to take out and browse at your leisure. My first impression - don't drop it on your foot. Ha, I joke of course. It's a bit of a whopper indeed, but it's what's needed to fully appreciate to grand-ness of the project. To really appreciate the detail that's gone into each image, you really do need to have a substantial size which really helps to blow you away with its majesty. Coming in at almost 140 pages, this will keep you enthralled until the last page.

Andy Green's early Christmas gift for the ZX Spectrum!
Andy Green is certainly no stranger to us or the ZX Spectrum community, as throughout all these years on this site, he has created many fantastic pieces of artwork that are used during most of the ZX Spectrum games featured on Indie Retro News. Games such as The Beast Of Torrack Moor, Mike the Guitar, and Knights to name but a few. But he doesn't just do loading screens for new games, as thanks to an early Christmas gift he has released a very special gift for all ZX Spectrum owners, of which you can find out more below..
The Beast Of Torrack Moor - 30th Anniversary Edition - Coming this November!

Mike the Guitar - Could this ZX Spectrum homebrew be as good on the Amstrad CPC?
![]() |
| Mike the guitar? Well, I guess you'll have to if you want to hear it. |
Time to get those pedals out - Mike The Guitar is here! If there's one thing better than Mike the Guitar coming out on the Spectrum then it's Mike the Guitar coming out for the Amstrad CPC! Multi format! Yeah! Fresh from the release of MTG on the Spectrum creator Sebastian Braunert has brought everyone's favourite walking guitar (is there another one?) to the home of Alan Sugars' 8 bit behemoth! Created with AGD and with the very talented Andy Green creating the loading screen for this version too, what we have is another great combination and one that worked so well on Speccy original. Let's see what this one has to offer.
Knights - Another puzzler but this time as a ZX Spectrum port!
When I was a young lad my step dad used to always go on about Chess. He'd sit there for hours on end moving around pieces as if the end result would be some grand prize. It certainly wasn't my idea of fun as I was a video gamer! So how do you blend something you don't enjoy into something you do, well this game might just do it, 'Knights'. A new game for the ZX Spectrum which is a port of a much earlier PC game.
