Stunt Car Racer NES - A brilliant classic gets an unofficial NES port by cobbpg

Cobbpg has achieved a remarkable technical feat by bringing Geoff Crammond’s legendary 3D stunt racing game, Stunt Car Racer, to the NES. This ambitious adaptation fuses the code of the original Commodore 64 release with the refined visual art style of the Amiga version. The developer heavily reworked the source material by hand to push the boundaries of the NES while utilizing the MMC3 mapper with 256K PRG-ROM, 16K CHR-RAM, and 8K WRAM. To protect players' hard-earned accomplishments, the game features WRAM write protection outside of gameplay and retains both your record track times and overall career progress on boot. Separate fine-tuned versions have been released to accommodate NTSC, PAL, and Dendy hardware configurations.

Brutal Pico Race - Another Pico-8 game comes over to the Amiga via BSzili [WIP]

Following on from our previous PICO-8 news story, as BSzili has began porting the rather enjoyable PICO-8 futurist racing game, Brutal Pico Race, over to the Commodore Amiga. Following the positive feedback of his previous fantasy console conversion, the space shooter Zepton, the talented coder has once again bridged the gap between modern retro restrictions and classic 16-bit hardware. Originally created by yourykiki, this adrenaline-fueled, split-screen racer pushes the classic Amiga chipset to its limits with high-speed pseudo-3D visuals and raw arcade gameplay. The release adds yet another impressive trophy to BSzili's growing portfolio of high-quality Amiga demakes and ports.

Stunt Car Racer (Framerate Unleashed) - Unlocks the framerate to 50/60 FPS on the Amiga!

In the late 80's, Geoff Crammond released the incredible game of ' Stunt Car Racer '. It involved you the player, racing around a 3D track in a first person view using a vehicle which had boost capabilities. It was also one of the greatest racing games ever released and what made it so great was the fact that all of the tracks were like rollercoasters, with such dangerous driving and incredible heights involved it would've killed anyone if it was real life. But this month as a bit of a shock, a coder by the name of Vesuri has released an Amiga version of Stunt Car Racer that's running at a smooth 50/60fps. Something Amiga owners have been wanting for a very long time.

Flat-Lane - Another fabulous racer released for the C64!

The Commodore 64 scene continues to prove that there is still plenty of life in this legendary machine. Retro homebrew developer youki06 has just released Flat Lane, a new racing title that serves as both a nostalgic tribute and a technical "experiment-turned-reality." For youki06, the project is deeply personal. His history with the C64 dates back to 1983, when he received the computer as an 11-year-old. Like many aspiring programmers of that era, he dreamed of creating a pseudo-3D racer in the vein of the arcade classic Pole Position. While he felt he lacked the technical prowess as a child, Flat Lane—his second complete game for the platform—finally brings that vision to fruition.
