Croco Folie - A tribute and celebration for the 40th birthday of the Amstrad CPC 464

Amstrad CPC owners if you're feeling a little left out, then worry not! As we've just found out through our emails and Twitter, that AYOR61 and team, who were also behind other games such as Missile Command, Octopus 21 and Midnight Streets. Has released the new arcade platformer of 'Croco Folie' for the Amstrad CPC via GameJolt. To coincide with this news, we've got a very brief description from the team as well as a couple of videos from Saberman and Xenomorph.

Mine Escape - A new Amstrad CPC game released by CapaSoft

Capasoft has been in the news a few times over the last few years, as not only did they release the Amstrad CPC game of JAX THE DOG, but also the more recent Roland in Retroalacant: A single screen homebrew celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Amstrad CPC 464. Well here's another Capasoft update, as just recently they released the CPC game of 'Mine Escape': A game in which you are trapped in a mine, and must gather the necessary tools to fix an elevator to reach the surface. To coincide with this news, we've got footage from both Saberman and Xenomorph.

SPACE RESCUE IN JUPITER - A new Amstrad CPC game by Altanerus Dog

Something slightly different for this evening instead of all the Commodore 64 games we've been featuring, as we've just been contacted by both Saberman and Xenomorph, that as of just recently you can download the latest release of SPACE RESCUE IN JUPITER for the Amstrad CPC by Altanerus Dog. A new  Basic 1.0 game in which you must rapidly traverse the upper layers of the Jupiter atmosphere to rescue miners trapped below.

Jewel Warehouse 2 - EgoTrip is back with another Jewel and Trap Amstrad game!

Another homebrew this week and following the same genre of a puzzler, as we were recently informed via XeNoMoRPH, that EgoTrip has released his latest game of 'Jewel Warehouse 2'; a sequel to the 2016 game of the same name which was also released for the Amstrad CPC. In this rather challenging release, you play as Amy and must collect all the power crystals before the Cyborg Queen's arrival. But as is always the case, it wont be easy, as this Warehouse is not only a bit of a mess but there's dangerous enemies and traps that will do you harm!

Atic Atac - Ultimate Play the Game classic on the Amstrad gets a WIP overhaul update!

Ultimate Play the Game has been mentioned countless times on Indie Retro News, especially as homebrew developers and graphical artists had taken it upon themselves to convert/port many of those classics over to systems that didn't have the luxury of the original in the first place. Games such as Atic Atac being ported over to the C64 by Steven Day, Saul Cross and Tomcat from the BBC Micro or ZX Spectrum, is one such mighty game we have mentioned this year alone.

Vespertino - A Racing Simulator that will crown the Amstrad CPC as the best 8-bit platform?

If you thought Super Mario Brothers on the C64 was going to be the only highlight this year, then prepare for a shock. As we've just been tweeted via @BATMAN_GROUP that they are working on a racing game called 'Vespertino'; a game they claim will crown the Amstrad CPC as the best 8-bit platform! Yes indeed from the same team who is working on the amazing Amiga to Amstrad CPC port of Pinball Dreams and through 28 years of productions for several productions, comes a new game that will apparently eclipse them all!

Scramble - A wicked retro shoot em up gets a fantastic Amstrad port

I was just thinking to myself could this day get any better, and going by the latest update on the CPCwiki forums, it has! Welcome to 'Scramble'; a very nice side scrolling shoot em up Amstrad port of a game which was originally released way back in 1983 as Skramble developed by Darrell Etherington. This version developed by PuzCPC, stays true to the original but features a smooth frame rate, great Amstrad graphics, great music and sfx by Thargan, and top quality blasting action.

Operation Alexandra - Super cool action platformer is coming to the Amstrad

With all the playable Amstrad games fast approaching at the end of the CPCRetroDev, there's still a number of them we haven't mentioned yet that is sure to whet your appetite to one of the best competitions we've seen so far. As after already announcing games such as Jarlac and even the Legend of Steel, 4MHz has astounded us with its entry of ' Operation Alexandra '; an upcoming action packed platformer that set in a secret Nazi military base in the Arctic!

Top 11: ZX Spectrum to Amstrad CPC Ports

During the 8-bit home computer heyday of the eighties, Amstrad fans noticed a phenomenon that continued all the way up until the CPC's discontinuation. Many games were released that didn't appear to be optimized for the system's strengths and thus lots of lackluster games came to the party. This was eventually explained to the common user that the games, were ported from a rival machine... the ZX Spectrum.

This year so far has been very good for the Amstrad CPC, as we've seen a number of games that have been released such as Galactic Tomb, Pink Pills, Robbie Strikes Back, The Dawn of Kernel and even the incredible dungeon crawler 'The Shadows Of Sergoth'. But the Amstrad is about to get another boost in the homebrew department, as this week the #CPCRetroDev 2018 - Amstrad CPC Game Creation Contest has been announced. As in their words "the 6th edition of the retro game creation contest of the University of Alicante. This contest awards the best and most creative developers of the retro scene, able to develop the best games for Amstrad CPC 464".

Pink Pills - A new Amstrad CPC game is in the works

Putting aside the C64 games as now we look towards the Amstrad CPC, as thanks to a heads up by one of our readers, we've come across a game called ' Pink Pills ' which is being developed using Arcade Game Designer and coded by Sebastian Braunert. Looking like an old school platformer, in this game you play as Moritz and must collect all the bones in each of the levels while avoiding crazy enemies.

The Abbey of Crime Extensum - Full English translation of the Amstrad game La Abadía del Crimen

In 1987, Opera Soft released ' The abbey of crime ' also known as ' La abadía del crimen ', which was regarded as one of the best video games for the 8bit system such as the Amstrad, ZX Spectrum, and MSX.  It had a high level of detail, a decent plot, good mapping, sound and much more which made it a worth while game to collect even if it was never released outside of Spain. Thankfully things have changed since then as not only was there a PC remake (link) released not long ago, but as of today if you have an Amstrad, you can now check out the fully English translated version which has since been released by khaz and the help of the cpcwiki community.

Heroes Rescue - Indie Retro News gives this new Amstrad CPC game an exclusive preview!

Over these past few months we've been featuring Defecto Digital's upcoming homebrew platformer ' Heroes Rescue ' for the Amstrad CPC. It was by the same developer who also released ELF, an adventure game based on the arcade version released by Ocean Software in 1992. Developed using AGD, in Heroes Rescue you play as the lovable character FRY from Futurama and must rescue all the famous heroes from well known Cartoons such as Marvel, The Simpsons, Teenage Mutant Turtles and yes even Futurama.

New Amstrad CPC Game - A Prelude To Chaos - Longplay & Review by Xyphoe!

As reported back in March on this very site, "A Prelude To Chaos" is a new game for the Amstrad CPC inspired by the Legend Of Zelda, written by EgoTrip. A few months have passed now and Xyphoe thinks it is time for a longplay and full review of this game! "The nefarious Cyborg Queen has sent her minions to prepare the way for her arrival. It is up to Amy to collect 40 Power Jewels and disable the machines throughout the village in an attempt to slow down the Cyborg Queen's plans."

CPC vs Virgill - A new Music Disk for your Amstrad CPC!

Some rather epic tunes this evening for your Amstrad CPC, is the latest release by TRSI, 'CPC vs Virgill '. Released at the Nordlicht party last week and coming first under wild demo, is a 6 track musical album of top quality tunes that sound fantastic on both a real Amstrad and via an emulator. Tunes such as Prism Break, Dott, Galavanize, Chyphilis and Requiem for a CPC! Oh and if you haven't heard of Virgill, he's a music artist, texter and graphics artist, going way back to 1990, also previous member of Scoopex!

Amstard CPC Longplay & Review - "Quack A Jack" by Xyphoe!

Anyone for scrambled ("Terraductile"?!) eggs? Well in this Amstrad longplay you take control of Red Jack the duck trying to escape the palace dungeons whilst stopping the Terraductile eggs hatching and collecting as much loot as possible along the way! "Quack A Jack" is an early Amsoft game, and one of my favourites as a kid! It's long forgotten game well worth checking out for a quick fun blast!

Nightshift - The Amstrad CPC gets a rather cool music disk!

After a long weekend away getting used to the new place, i'm back with a rather cool upbeat retro music disk that is now available to listen to via Youtube. This music disk is actually for the Amstrad CPC and is called 'Nightshift'. It was released by Mr.Lou, coded by Kevin Thacker and graphics by Blueangel. Currently there isn't a download link for a real Amstrad, with all these 9 brilliant tracks that will last you through the evening, but we are hopeful it will be available soon.

Xyphoe plays through all the Microids games on the Amstrad CPC!

Vive La France! Xyphoe takes an Amstrad CPC journey exploring all the games released by French developer and publisher "Microids" who still exist today! Microids heavily supported the Amstrad CPC and for most of the 80's the Amstrad was their primary target platform. Their games are known for trying different concepts and styles from the 'norm' and often featured lovely colourful graphics and animation. As you will find, not all their games were a success however neither did they release any real stinkers! So this is a kind of a "Let's play" video of sorts, unscripted and unrehearsed, but hopefully a lot of fun!
