I used to love playing racing games such as Outrun, Lotus or even XJ220 on the Amiga. It was a time that gave me the feeling of intense speed and near misses without driving a real car and ending up in the local clink. Thankfully if you too like games like that, or even ones with a more science fiction element to them, then make sure to keep an eye on Hyper Runner; An upcoming sci-fi racer for the Commodore Amiga by Raster Wizards that looks even better in this latest footage!

StarSector - A sci-fi open-world game reviewed by Cola Powered Gamer
StarSector is probably one of the best sci-fi open-world games ever created. Even if you don’t consider it one of the best, it’s still one complex game and a real hidden gem. Initially called “Starfarer”, Starsector is being developed by Fractal Softworks and is still technically in development since it was initially released on April 26, 2013. It’s being developed by a small group of people, and the amount of dedication and attention to detail is amazing. Unlike most games that are still in development, StarSector feels more like a finished product and is only being more and more polished.
Beneath a Steel Sky - A great sci-fi Adventure from 1994 reviewed by Cola Powered Gamer
Beneath a Steel Sky is a second game made by Revolution Software, after the decent success of their first game Lure of the Temptress. For this game Revolution Software really put the effort and love in this game. Writers Cecil Charles and Dave Cummins goal was to find a mix between the seriousness of Sierra games and the comedy of LucasArts’ games.

Break/Space - Procedurally-generated space strategy game for the 48K ZX Spectrum!
Putting aside the Atari games it's time to mention Blerk's ZX Spectrum game ' Break/Space '; a procedurally-generated space strategy game for the 48K ZX Spectrum that has recently been compiled under Boriel's ZX Basic. This game was originally written for the 2017 Spectrum BASIC Jam, but the recent version been compiled into 100% machine code for a slicker gameplay experience, that is also much nicer to play.
Wormhole - A gorgeous C64 game is in development by TRS
I'm rather surprised this game hasn't got more attention, as not long ago we've learnt that Protovision will be publishing a rather awesome looking C64 game called ' Wormhole ', that is in development by TRS. This game which puts you in control of a saviour, that must rescue a professor and stop a wormhole experiment that has gone horribly wrong with an invasion of hostile aliens, will feature more than just your average side scrolling jump 'n shooter experience.
May the Fourth be with you: Star Wars Retrogaming
Well, it’s that time of year again when we all suddenly become sci-fi nerds and amusingly misquote Star Wars for 24 hours, so to celebrate the geek in-joke turned global holiday that is Star Wars Day, we present a quick round-up of some unofficial (and frequently rubbish) Star Wars related retrogaming you may or may not be aware of.

Utopia : The Creation of a Nation - A great Amiga sci-fi strategy game launch-able on PC
In the early 90's I was to play one of the best Amiga strategy games of all time with buildings to place, resources to mine and Alien races to defeat. That game was none other than the brilliant Amiga sci-fi planetary classic ' Utopia : The Creation of a Nation ', which was published by Gremlin Interactive. In fact it was such a fine title, I just had to mention that the same game is now available on GamesNostalgia as an easily launch-able set up for the PC

Classed as a space-RPG but at its core a shoot em up, Sector 88 was originally an experimental game using pre-rendered 3D graphics on the PC, which was later converted over to the MSX to gauge peoples reactions (it must've worked!).

As its my Birthday today, I thought it best to celebrate by mentioning one of the best games on the Amiga, 'Hired Guns', which has been packaged together with FS-UAE for playability on the PC by GamesNostalgia. First released in 1993 for both Amiga and DOS, this game was the highlight of my gaming youth developed by DMA Design and published by Psygnosis. It put you in charge of 4 mercenaries lured into a trap! A weapons proving ground whereby you must defend yourself against genetically engineered creatures.

StarCrawlers - Sci-Fi dungeon crawling through GOG Early Access
Through all these years of dungeon crawling most of us have experienced the tight corridor experience with dark beasts at every corner, with sword and shield at hand ready on the defence. However apart from the great game that is Hired Guns, there is also this more modern game ' StarCrawlers ' which is a sci-fi dungeon crawler as you build a crew of renegade adventurers on the fringes of space, taking jobs from megacorps to hunt bounties, sabotage rivals and conducting corporate espionage!
