Utopia - A great sci-fi strategy game gets a DarkwyndPT review

Space: the final frontier“. I’m sure everyone knows this quote. Outer space has always been the ultimate destination of any population, to create new civilisations in new, alien worlds. So much so that space colony management sims could almost be considered its own sci-fi subgenre. So, today we’ll be reviewing Utopia: The Creation of a Nation.

Utopia: The Creation of a Nation is a managerial/strategy game developed by Celestial Software and published by Gremlin. It was originally released in 1991 for the Amiga and Atari ST. It was released the following year for DOS and in 1993, it was ported for the SNES/Super Famicom in the US and Japan. In 1994, it was released for the Super Nintendo in the EU and in 1995, it was re-released for DOS in CD-ROM format.

K240 - Amiga sequel to the amazing Utopia playable on a PC/MAC

Released in 1994 came a game that almost took the throne from Utopia, a space strategy game with such brilliance in gameplay, that many could not put it down. Although Utopia had you on different planets building, researching and moving units into enemy areas. In K240 you are based in a sector of space with the focus of the game to build colonies on a clusters of asteroids, mine them for ore and defend yourself against other races. And so this fantastic game that everyone should play at least once has been packaged together by GamesNostalgia with the emulator FS-UAE to make it easier to launch.

Utopia : The Creation of a Nation - A great Amiga sci-fi strategy game launch-able on PC

In the early 90's I was to play one of the best Amiga strategy games of all time with buildings to place, resources to mine and Alien races to defeat. That game was none other than the brilliant Amiga sci-fi planetary classic ' Utopia : The Creation of a Nation ', which was published by Gremlin Interactive. In fact it was such a fine title, I just had to mention that the same game is now available on GamesNostalgia as an easily launch-able set up for the PC

The Retro Collection - Part 2

I've always had a soft spot for the Amiga but it wasn't until recently that I went into overdrive mode in collecting Amiga and Amstrad based games. Yet some would probably call me crazy, my credit card probably would! But when you have so many good gaming memories from your childhood then there is no harm in reliving those days and admiring the exceptional work that when into not just the games, but the boxes themselves. However, in my opinion a collection isn't much of a collection if you don't have some of the best titles available on that platform for the time, well guess what, I have many of those very games!

K240 - The sequel to the amazing Utopia is here for the PC

Game Type : RTS, Space Strategy
Launcher Developer : The Company.pl
Game Info : Released in 1994 came a game that almost took the throne from Utopia, a space strategy game with such brilliance in gameplay, that many could not put this one down. For me, Utopia far excelled over this game as it was much easier to use, however K240 was not so easy. Utopia also had you on different planets building, researching and moving units into enemy areas. But in this game the title comes about in the fact that you are based in a sector of space called K240 in the year 2380, the focus of this game is to build colonies on a clusters of asteroids and mine them for ore. However all was not peaceful as you spent most of the time fighting against several different races hostile aliens with similar motives. Did you know that K240 had another sequel called Fragile Allegiance, though this time being a PC remake of the game but with improved graphics and user interface. Still a good game, but not one of my favourites! Thanks to The Company.pl, which have just released/updated to version 2.6 you can now play this on your PC with higher graphical filters.
