Diggers - This PC fan-remake of a classic strategy and puzzle like Amiga/DOS game looks fantastic

Well this is fantastic news especially if you had either an Amiga or PC(DOS), as Mhatxotic is working on a remake of the classic strategy and puzzle-like game called 'Diggers'. A 90's title that was developed and published by Millennium Interactive for the Amiga and PC. A game in which the player takes control of a mining team excavating a planet for precious minerals. To coincide with this news, of which I'm excited to try out later, the developer has provided the full details below.

Soltys - A 1995 DOS point and click adventure game is still coming to the Amiga (AGA)

A weekend heads up for all of our Amiga readers , as we've recently found out through the EAB forums, that Tukinem together with Retronics, is not only still working on bringing the Polish point and click adventure game of 'Sołtys' over to the Commodore Amiga 1200 with an English release date of May 23, 2025. But as of today you can try out the latest demo featuring English, German, Spanish, Italian and Polish subtitles. A game which was originally released by LK Avalon for MS-DOS on May 23, 1995. To coincide with this news, we've got some new footage of the game below.

Alien Intruder - A new MS-DOS single screen arcade game from Juan J. Martínez

With the MS-DOS Gaming! Facebook group hitting a massive 54K members, it's about time we get some decent homebrew DOS games to keep them occupied. Well it looks as if I found one, as thanks to the developer contacting me in my email, I've been told that Juan J. Martínez has released the MS-DOS game of 'Alien Intruder'. A single screen jump-and-shoot arcade platformer featured in this article with a couple of screenshots.

Chopper Duel - A DOS game from 1993 gets an Amiga 1.1 update by izero79

Great news if you're looking for something different to play this evening, as thanks to the creator announcing it via itch io and via our good friend Saberman, we've been told that izero79 has released an update for the DOS to Commodore Amiga port of Chopper Duel; A game that was originally released for DOS way back in 1993 by Addict. To coincide with this news, Saberman as per usual has done a short video showing the game in action.

Anzu Castle Gracula - A nod to Castlevania for browser play and MS-DOS by RainbowCemetery


If you have an old computer running MS-DOS, an emulator, or just prefer playing through your browser at work ;), then you might be interested to know a developer by the name of RainbowCemetery has released a new DOS game called  ' Anzu Castle Gracula '. A game that started off with qbasic, then became a full game as a nod to Castlevania! To coincide with this late hour news story, Saberman has provided a short gameplay video.

Flashback DOS - A brilliant game from the 1990's gets a DarkwyndPT review!

Hello and welcome back to Retro Freak Reviews. Let’s begin the new year by examining a classic action game that drew inspiration from previous influential games and, in turn, became influential itself. I am referring to Flashback.

Flashback (also known as Flashback: The Quest for Identity in the U.S.) is an action-platform game developed by Delphine Software and initially published by U.S. Gold. Originally released in 1992 for the Commodore Amiga, the game was re-released on the 3DO, MS-DOS, Sega Genesis/Megadrive, and SNES platforms. In 1994, it was ported to the CD-i, FM Towns, PC-98, Acorn 32-bit, and Sega CD/Mega CD systems. The game saw another re-release in 1995 for the Jaguar and Macintosh. Subsequent ports were made for iOS in 2009 and the Sega Dreamcast in 2017.

Devolution - A real-time strategy game for the C64 and MS-DOS by Windigo Productions

Something slightly different for your evening entertainment, as we have recently been contacted through Facebook, to tell you that the same creator of the awesome Commodore 64 game of Deathflood Dungeon of Doom, has released the Commodore 64 and MS-DOS game of 'Devolution' via the itch io page and main website linked below. To coincide with this news, Saberman has done a video of this rather unique strategy game by Windigo Productions!

Crimbo - A remake of the ZX Spectrum game for MS-DOS by Jvdw007

It's time for some very early Christmas news, as if you have an old PC at hand or an emulator installed such as DOSBox, you might like to play this fun for all the family game of Crimbo by Blackjet. An unofficial ZX Spectrum to DOS conversion of the game "Crimbo" by Little Shop of Pixles. A game that was also released some time back for the Commodore Amiga by Spud. To coincide with this news that's been sent to us by Liqmatrix, you can either download the game below or wait for the latest footage provided by Saberman.

The Return of Traxtor - A great 8bit game by Juan J. Martinez gets an MS-DOS conversion!

It feels like it was only just yesterday that we had the pleasure of playing Juan J. Martínez's rather enjoyable Match 3 puzzle game of The Return of Traxtor: a game that was released for the Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum a few years ago. Well if you remember playing this game back then, you'll be pleased to know that we have been told by the creator, that it has been converted over to MS-DOS! A  game in which you must match 3 coloured shapes and objects to obtain a high score using a special space ship! 

Gold Mine Run! - A charming Arcade platformer released for MS-DOS!

It's not often we feature MS-DOS games, unless of course it's a glorious classic released on GOG, but today's announcement is something special for the retro game scene. As we've been told by our good friend Juan J. Martínez, who released other great games such as Hyperdrive(CPC) and Night Knight(MSX), that he has released an MS-DOS game of Gold Mine Run!: A high quality platformer that isn't just inspired by the classics, but you have to collect all the gold throughout each of the 30 stages to move to the next!

Space Cavern Blaster - A highly challenging tech demo for the Amiga 500, Atari ST, C64, DOS and Sega Megadrive!

It's not often we feature games that are being created for a multitude of different systems, so here's one I think that might be worth a try, is the latest tech demo of Space Cavern Blaster by Dotmos. A highly challenging tech demo entered into the Retro Platform Jam #6. A game which isn't just being created for the Amiga 500, but other systems such as the Atari ST, C64, DOS and Sega Megadrive. To coincide with this news, we have some new footage of the game by Saberman 

Haunted Lands - Burial Grounds - An awesome action platformer homage to classic DOS games

It's the middle of the week and it's time for some fresh news to be announced! The first one up that comes highly recommended and has had a recent update, is Alevgor's action platformer 'Haunted Lands - Burial Grounds'. A game that isn't just a PC homage to classic DOS games such as Commander Keen, Dangerous Dave and Bio Menace, but you'll be fighting deadly demons and ghouls with a powerful shotgun at your disposal. To coincide with this news, you can check out the latest Haunted Lands: Burial Grounds trailer which is watchable below.

Duke Nukem 4Ever - A prototype build for a scrapped sidescrolling 2D version of Duke Nukem Forever has been recovered!

Apogee Software certainly released some great games in the 90's, games such as Monster Bash, Bio Menace and even our personal favorite Duke Nukem. Well one game you've probably never heard of is the platformer version of Duke Nukem 4Ever. That's because while the game did start its life as a side-scrolling platform shooter in 1996 by 3D Realms, it was scrapped and became lost in the sands of time. We had the pleasure of playing Duke Nukem 3D in 1996 by 3D Realms and the misfortune of playing the first person shooter of Duke Nukem Forever by Gearbox Software in 2011. 

Return to Monkey Island - The long-awaited follow-up to a classic Adventure series gets new gameplay footage!

The Secret of Monkey Island developed by Lucasfilm Games (later LucasArts) was originally released in 1990 and created by now industry legends Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer, and Dave Grossman. It was a game that has lived on the hearts of many with its fantastic pirate charm, brilliant characters, challenging yet enjoyable puzzles, and a story set in a fictional version of the Caribbean during the age of piracy. Well if you remember that fine game and have been keen to see what the upcoming sequel is like called 'Return to Monkey Island', then as of today Gilbert's Terrible Toybox studio, in collaboration with Devolver Digital and Lucasfilm Games has released a brand new gameplay trailer!

Return to Monkey Island - The long-awaited follow-up to the legendary Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge has been announced!

The Secret of Monkey Island was developed by Lucasfilm Games (later LucasArts) and released in 1990. Created by now industry legends Ron Gilbert, Tim Schafer, and Dave Grossman. A game that has lived on the hearts of many with its fantastic pirate charm, brilliant characters, challenging yet enjoyable puzzles, and a story set in a fictional version of the Caribbean during the age of piracy... Just saying the name "Guybrush Threepwood" would set most Adventure fans into a frenzy. Well for those of you who remember that amazing game and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge, will be pleased to know as of today 'Return to Monkey Island' has just been announced for 2022!

Duke Nukem 3D - Another Classic MS-DOS FPS makes its way on to the Amiga via BSZili! (68060 required)

Another great heads up for all the Amiga owners out there, well ones that can run it anyway, is the classic first person shooter of ' Duke Nukem 3D ', has been ported over to the Amiga by BSzili as the first public test for you to try. Originally developed by 3D Realms back in the 90's, Nuke Nukem was not only a commercial hit selling about 3.5 million copies, but in the United States alone it was the 12th best-selling computer game in the period from 1993 to 1999, with 950,000 units sold (wiki).

Quest for Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness - One of the best Adventure/RPG's gets a must download enhancement!

I've always been an Adventure gamer on both my Amiga and PC, and have such fond memories of games such as The Secret of Monkey Island, Simon the Sorcerer, Fable, Kings Quest and even the Quest for Glory series. In fact one such game I remember and always recommend as one of the top 10 Adventure games to play is the early 90's game Quest for Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness! So why am I mentioning this fabulous game on IRN? Well here's some great news for you all, as AshLancer has released the long-awaited Quest for Glory IV: Shadows of Darkness Enhanced Edition!

Super Space Fuel Inc. - A super duper Match 3 game as a small love letter to DOS EGA games

We've featured a number of great match 3 games on Indie Retro News, games such as The Return of Traxtor and Vegetables Deluxe to name but a few. But now after getting another heads up via Twitter , and from the developer himself, we've come across a brand new game for MS-DOS systems called 'Super Space Fuel'; a freely playable love letter to DOS EGA games which has been created directly in Borland Turbo C on a 33MHz 486 PC.

Turrican 2 as a in progress MS-DOS AMIGA AGA conversion gets a new demo (HOT NEWS!)

Another great Amiga update through Indie Retro News on this very hot Tuesday, as we've just found out through the Saberman, that Muzza has just released a new demo version 2 for the work in progress MS-DOS conversion of the classic action shooter game Turrican II. The second game in the Turrican series, which was originally developed by Factor 5 in the 90's and released on the Amiga, C64, CDTV, Atari ST, Amstrad CPC and ZX Spectrum, and later for DOS.

Supercars 2 AGA - A rebuilt & adapted to Amiga AGA ripped from Supercars International 1996 is nearly complete

Way back in 2014 JOTD released the PC version of "Super Cars III" ; a game which was his own remake of the hit action racing classic "Super Cars II". Originally developed by Magnetic Fields and published by Gremlin Graphics in the early 90's for Amiga & Atari ST. Well fast forward to today however and do we have a great update for you. As JOTD has just released another version to his work in progress Supercars 2 AGA; A rebuilt & adapted to AGA ripped from Supercars International 1996. A game which in itself was a re-make of Super Cars II (tweaked gameplay, updated 256-color VGA graphics and a new soundtrack).
