Xevious - Namco's 1980's classic has now arrived on the Sega Mega Drive
Well here's another great summer news story for you all, as Namco's influential 1980's vertical shooter, Xevious, has been ported to the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis by SirVH, delivering a faithful, line-by-line recreation of the original arcade code on 16-bit hardware. The release features authentic enemy AI, dual-weapon combat against ground and air targets, and 4-channel PCM sound, supporting both original hardware and modern emulators. In 2012 Locomalito released Maldita Castilla for the PC which was a fantastic arcade platformer homage to Ghost'n'Goblins, and many others while taking influences from medieval paintings and places, and inspired by the best chivalry book ever: The Amadis of Gaul. Black Tiger - Capcom's brilliant 1987 platformer is coming to the Sega Mega Drive
The classic 1987 Capcom arcade masterpiece Black Tiger is finally making its way to the Sega Mega Drive, thanks to an ambitious new homebrew development project powered by Earok’s Scorpion Engine and developed by Monster Bath Games Inc. The upcoming 16-bit port aims to give the legendary dark-fantasy platformer the definitive home console release it never received during the retro era. This game did receive home versions however, for the Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari ST, and MSX, it was never officially ported to the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, Super Nintendo, or PC Engine.

Phantasy Star 2 - Marco Ughetta is aiming to port this Sega Mega Drive RPG over to the Amiga [UPDATE]
I have a bit of a soft spot for the Sega Mega Drive, especially with my ever growing collection of great games, such as FINK, Golden Axe, Mickey Mania and my personal favorite Comix Zone. So to find out that Marco Ughetta was aiming to port the Sega Mega Drive game of 'Phantasy Star II' over to the Commodore Amiga, this certainly caught my interest. Sure, it's still in an early stage of development, and at one point I wasn't sure if it was going to go any further at all, but we are pleased to show you the latest demo footage.

A bit of a late heads up for this one, as a good friend of ours, has recently informed us, that Gasega68k has released an early work in progress version of 'G-ZERO' for the Sega Mega Drive. A game that is inspired by the SNES title of 'F-Zero'. The first game in the series originally released for the Super NES, as the first game for the platform to use a technique by Nintendo called "Mode 7 Scrolling". Super Star Wars - Holiday Special unofficially arrives on the Commodore Amiga as a port from the Sega Mega Drive
Although I'm personally not a fan of Star Wars (I blame my Ex :p). I've just found out through Earok however, that not only did the SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis get a new homebrew release called 'Super Star Wars Holiday Special'. Which is an unofficial game from the cult-classic SNES Super Star Wars series, and loosely based on the outrageous The Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978. But as of today you can download the Commodore Amiga version, that's been ported over as the first public beta by Earok.

Fist of the North Star 2 aka Last Battle (Sega Mega Drive) is possibly coming to the Commodore Amiga
The last news story from me today unless something major comes out, as looking through both the EAB forums and Facebook, we've found out that the Sega Mega Drive version of Last Battle: Legend of the Final Hero, is possibly coming to the Commodore Amiga as Fist of the North Star 2. As in the words of the developer who is creating it using the Scorpion Engine "This will be for the Amiga game jam. But street fighter will be first". As in the words of the creator "This is a fan port of Splatterhouse I've been working on to learn the ropes of Sega Megadrive/Genesis development".

Hayato's Journey - Unofficial spiritual sequel of Kenseiden, a cult-classic SEGA Master System game now for the Sega Mega Drive!
We have just been tagged via Erik Hogan creator of the Scorpion Engine, that Master Linkuei has announced the release of the Sega Mega Drive and Sega Genesis game of Hayato's Journey. As in the words of Erik "This is a fan sequel to Master System classic Kenseiden. It is also the very first full length Scorpion title to appear on the Mega Drive/Genesis. No guarantees, but there may be ports to Amiga AGA and NeoGeo in the future". To coincide with this news, we've got some new footage of the game as well as a brief game story from the developer.
