Polymer Picker - Clear the Ocean from Rubbish in this BBC Micro game from Stephen Scott

The retro games just keep on coming, as thanks to another heads up earlier this week from our good friend Liqmatrix, he has told us that Stephen Scott has made available through itch io, his latest game creation for the BBC MICRO of Polymer Picker: A game in which you have to clear the local coastline from all the discarded plastic that is harming the aquatic wildlife! To coincide with this news, you can check out some footage of the game being played by the creator below.

Inertia - An Atari XE/XL conversion from the BBC Micro version by Fandal and Buddy

Here on Indie Retro News we do love writing about the Atari XL/XE, I mean seriously we can't stop featuring the latest games released for this system. Well here we are with another story sent to us by Saberman, and it's the latest game of 'Inertia'; An Atari XE/XL conversion from the BBC Micro version by Fandal and Buddy! To coincide with this Atari XL/XE news update, Saberman has also done a video showing the game being played.

Cracky - Another game release by Inufuto for the Amstrad CPC/C64/Plus4/ZX Spectrum and many more!

The retrogames just keep on coming, as thanks to another heads up earlier today from our good friend Saberman, he has told us that Inufuto has released a brand new game for systems such as the Amstrad, C64, Plus4 and ZX Spectrum called 'Cracky'. An Arcade platformer in which you need to collect all the Stars while avoiding deadly baddies. In light of this news, Saberman has also done a new video which shows the game in action below.

Fantasy World Dizzy might be coming to the BBC Micro!

We've just come across a great news story especially if you have a BBC Micro, as we've been told through our Dizzy RetroGaming Facebook group, that 'Fantasy World Dizzy' might be coming to the BBC Micro by Jasper Renow Clarke. For those of you asking why this is a great news story. Well from what we know this classic adventure platformer by The Oliver Twins never came to the BBC Micro, only the Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, Amiga, Atari ST and DOS. So yes I'm very much excited to see how this progresses throughout the months or years ahead.

Electrobots Going Underground - A fabulous platformer released for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro and PC!

Checking our twitter feeds today we recently had a heads up from our good friend MicroGamer of a new release on the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro and Windows(self-contained EXE) called Electrobots Going Underground by 0xC0DE6502. A game in which playing as a Robot, need to collect all the Diamonds in each level to move on to the next. To coincide with this news, the developer has shown some footage of the game that was teased recently through Twitter.

This fully featured BBC Micro Emulator in your Browser called VirtualBeeb is incredible!

Checking our Facebook feeds today we recently had a heads up from our good friend Ethan Knight of a new update that everyone in the BBC Micro community is sure to be excited over. Yes indeed if you had a BBC Micro back in the 1980's, then make sure to check out the 3D BBC Micro Simulator of VirtualBeeb! As in the words of our good friend Ethan "I wish to God Mr Carless or Mr Gilchrist could have seen this. Everything about it just smacked me right back to computer class 🥰 A fully emulated BBC Micro, in your browser, capable of doing everything a Model B could do! You can even write code on it or connect to Telnet \o/"

W.A.R - A BBC Micro game from 1986 makes its way on to the Atari XL/XE


Don't worry Atari XL/XE owners we haven't forgotten about you, as just moments ago thanks to our good friend Saberman contacting us through Facebook, we've been told Fandal and Poison has ported the BBC Micro game 'W.A.R' over to the Atari XL/XE. A top down scrolling Shoot em up which was originally developed by Michael Archer and released in 1986 by Martech, which also saw an Amstrad CPC version supporting one of the first commercial mice in the form of the AMX Mouse.

Electrobots - A new arcade platformer for your Acorn Electron, BBC Micro and BBC Master

If you're looking for something different other than all the retro systems we usually feature on Indie Retro News such as the Amstrad, C64 or ZX Spectrum, then how about this brand new game from 0xc0de called 'Electrobots', A game developed for the Acorn Electron, BBC Micro and BBC Master as an 8-bit game that features lots of levels, different themed worlds, coin collection, smooth character animation, and sometimes deadly enemies!

Tristam Island - A command text based adventure with over 30 classic system support!


Command Text Based Adventure games are back in fashion it seems, especially with the latest games mentioned such as Survival Messenger Adventure, and those included in the Halloween and Treasure Hunt Jam . But now we turn our attention to another text based adventure game that's worth a look in, as according to the creator known as Hugo Labrande, he has released the command text based adventure of 'Tristam Island'; a new game that works on many different systems such as the Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore PET, VIC-20, Commodore 64 and many more!

Knight Orc - Level 9 Software's BBC Micro/Master version recovered and released!


Rockball wasn't the only game lost into the outter regions of space and found tumbling back to Earth, as thanks to a heads up from a good friend of ours, we've been told that Level 9 Software's BBC Micro/Master version of ' Knight Orc ', has been recovered and released upon the retro community! This game according to the stardot forums may have been in the possession of the Centre from Computing History, and was successfully archived thanks to a collective effort from Stardot members at this weekend's ABug meetup in Cambridge.

Stunt Car Racer - A mind blowing port released for the BBC Master


Of all the games to appear on the Amiga, this in my opinion was one of the best stunt style racers, it had some of the craziest tracks and the ultimate track the "Ski Jump". What made it so good was not just the feeling of speed, but the thrill of accelerating into the sky and coming back down with an almighty crack. It was one of Geoff Crammonds finest games, and now thanks to a heads up by te_lanus we've learnt an incredible port has been released on the BBC Master by The Bitshifters Collective!

Galaforce 3 is heading to a BBC Micro near you!

Don't worry BBC Micro owners we haven't forgotten about you, as just moments ago thanks to one of our friends contacting us via email, we've been told Kevin Edwards is bringing his much loved Galaga inspired shooter of ' Galaforce 2 ' to the BBC Micro as the third in the series with the announced ' Galaforce 3'. According to the creator Galaforce 2 is now 30 years old and in celebration of that fact, he is going to be updating the game with a few changes such as even more bullets!

Ziggy - Isometric game from 1987 ported to the Atari XL/XE


Way back in 1987 there was a game called 'Ziggy', that was released for the BBC Micro as a three dimensional isometric arcade-adventure, in which you guide Ziggy around a strange world collecting pyramids on a quest to enable him to eventually free his girlfriend. Well that same game originally developed by Dean Lester and published in Electron User, has since been converted over to the Atari XL/XE by Frantisek "Fandal" Houra , Marek "Poison" Pesout and Christian "Irgendwer" Krüger.

White Light - BBC Micro owners should check this latest game out!


Dave Moore@DaveArcadian has contacted us through our twitter feed about a new game that has launched for the BBC Micro that doesn't just look rather awesome but it's available as a free download and can be purchased as a physical copy on a 5.25in floppy! Tilted as ' White Light ' and developed by Sarah Walker with graphics by John Blythe, comes a new game as an unofficial sequel to FireTrack, which has long been regarded as one of the most technically advanced games ever made for the BBC Micro.

Indie Retro News is not only very close to our new first huge milestone of 40 million views, but today is our 5 year anniversary since our gaming creation in the late part of 2011! Over many years of posting the latest gaming news on certain forums, (originally just quotes) I had a dream to create my own gaming website, one that would suit both fans of the Indie scene and the Retro scene and would reach out to as many people as possible, which includes those of you in the Amiga, Amstrad, C64, ZX Spectrum, Sega Master System and even the BBC Micro scene. Thus in late 2011 Indie Retro News was born and over time has seen a huge surge in views to the point of even making the top 100 for the best gaming websites on the planet.

Castle Defender - BBC Micro's only tower defence game gets a release


We rarely feature BBC Micro games, but today's announcement is an exception, as thanks to a heads up by @ahope1 there's a new BBC Micro game in town and it's called ' Castle Defender ' developed by ChrisB. Available as a disk based BBC Micro B/B+ and Master system file, this game puts you in control as the defender of a castle, you must use defensive towers to protect your castle from attack and keep your health up at all times!

The Darkness of Raven Wood - A very spooky Adventure for BBC Micro and Electron [UPDATE]


It's still Winter but that doesn't stop us from mentioning games that would be more suited to Halloween, especially with Rucksackgames latest 8-bit Adventure ' The Darkness of Raven Wood ' that was only just recently released for the BBC Micro and Electron. In this creepy game set in the year 1862, you are on a quest to find out what has happened to your old childhood friend Raynard, but beware things are not pleasant in Raven Wood! Children have been going missing, a Priest has never been seen again, strange creatures are appearing and a forbidding storm chills you to the bone with snow falling in July! So can you find out what happened to Raynard and the reason behind this menacing darkness?

A Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year from Indie Retro News [UPDATE]


Here we are again with another Christmas and what a year it has been, full of incredible indie games, new homebrews, and lots of lost and found retro specials that have amazed even our own writers thanks to Genesis Project, Hokuto Force or Laxity. From C64 games such as Charlie Chaplin, Red Baron 3000, Donkey Kong + (X2016 Version), Locators Synd, Hessian, Alien 8 and Pentagram, to the incredible Amiga specials such as the SEGA CD exclusive Heart of the Alien ported over to the Amiga, Another World lost levels, OnEscapee and Giana Sisters: Special Edition by PixelGlass Studios. But that's not all we've had to enjoy, as we've had month after month of Amiga CD32 conversions thanks to Earok(+team) and more so this year Amiga Jay with Psygnosis : The Complete Amiga Works, The Bitmap Brothers Collection and even the Overhead Racer Collection!
