Searching through my emails looking for any interesting games to write about, and I've been reliably informed that the eagerly awaited Shoot 'em up called 'Racing Core' by Badcomputer with music by Lovepenguin has finally been released for the Sega Master System/Mark III. A game that not only looks pretty decent, but there's plenty of fun to be had blasting waves of enemies, all the while listening to a rather upbeat master system soundtrack. Super Mario Bros looks incredible on the Sega Master System!
Possibly the coolest news for this week and one I really think is going to get those jaws dropping *AGAIN*, is the fact that thanks to a mighty heads up by our good friend @PixelCNinja, we have been told the Sega Master System version of Super Mario Bros by LackofTrack is available for ALL to enjoy! Yes indeed one of the most eagerly awaited games to come to the Sega Master System as announced some time ago as a proof of concept, is here as a near-perfect port of the NES/FC classic
Lemmings Mega Edition v2.0 Final - Brand new levels never seen or played before via the Sega Master System
It's time we look towards The Sega Master System for a decent update, as there has been a surprise release of Lemmings Mega Edition version 2.0 final. Developed by the prominent romhacker behind Alex Kidd In Miracle World Extended Edition, this massive fan-made project expands the original 8-bit game into a rather epic console release. The creator returned to the SMSPower community after a two-year hiatus to unveil the culmination of an intense eight-week development cycle injecting a whopping 120 brand-new stages into the game, doubling the original count to a staggering 240 levels.

Astro Warrior - A classic Sega Master System game arrives on the ZX Spectrum NEXT
The ZX Spectrum Next library continues to grow, this time breathing new life into a Sega classic. Developer dave18 has successfully ported the iconic Sega Master System (SMS) shooter called Astro Warrior over to the Next, a project born out of a nostalgic desire to test the architectural boundaries between the two machines. The developer chose Astro Warrior because it was the first game they ever owned for the SMS. While the port was created "just for fun," the result is a polished conversion that highlights the impressive technical overlap between the Sega and the modern(like) Sinclair hardware.
Castlevania is still coming to the Sega Master System and here's some cool footage and a demo!
Castlevania has been featured many times on Indie Retro News, from my personal favorite 'Castlevania Spectral Interlude' on the ZX Spectrum, to Dante's upcoming Castlevania AGA for the Commodore Amiga. But here's another update you might like to know about if you love this classic game. As we have been told that Xfixium, who is also behind the Golden Axe Tyris Edition, is still working on bringing Castlevania over to the Sega Master System! Frontier Force - This latest Shoot 'em up for the SEGA Master System from Badcomputer looks pretty cool!
If you have a SEGA Master System or an Emulator to hand, then you are in for an arcade treat during this weekend, as we've just been told by Adam@badcomputer0 through Twitter, that you can now download the latest version of the kick ass Shoot 'em up of Frontier Force for the Sega Master System; a new game which has plenty of stages, different weapons, enemies and bosses to keep you occupied throughout. Vigilante - Neeso Games Sega Master System to Amiga port is still coming [UPDATE]
There's another game you should be keep an eye on as developments progress, and that's Vigilante: A game that was not only released sometime back as a naff port to the Commodore Amiga, but thanks to Neeso Games however, is currently getting a much better port from the Sega Master System version via the Scorpion Engine to the Commodore Amiga! As in the words of the creator "This is my attempt to port Vigilante from Sega Master System to Amiga. Why Vigilante and why Master System? First of all Amiga already has a (poor) Vigilante arcade port, but I prefer the Master System version because it's more colorful and has more personality, more NEESO style".

Well here we are with another retro gaming shoutout, as we've been informed that if you have a ColecoVision, MSX, Sega SG-1000, Sega Master System, Sega Game Gear, ZX Spectrum 48/128, SpectraVision SV-318/328, Memotech MTX 512, Gameboy Classic or Amstrad CPC, you can now play "Vexed". A new and original puzzle game. Match the blocks, reach par, but make sure no block is left behind.
Street Fighter II: Champion Edition is getting a graphical hack for the Sega Master System
I'm sure many of you remember the Street Fighter games, more especially Street Fighter 2; a game which originally appeared on the Arcades, and was then ported to pretty much every system you could think of. Well fast forward to today however and do we have some truly stonking news for you! As thanks to Xfixium who released the incredible Golden Axe Tyris Flare edition, he is now working on a Sega Master System graphical hack of that classic game "Street Fighter II: Champion Edition".

Brawlers, beat 'em ups, fighters or what ever you may call them are extremely popular on this site. There is nothing better than getting into an unrealistic arcade fighting situation, giving someone the smack down and having no real life consequences. So here we are with another beat 'em up update, as we've recently found out through twitter, that my personal favorite of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, is coming to the Sega Master System as a port of the original arcade version of TMNT.

Another retro gaming news story has hit our inbox, as if you're looking for a fun for all the family Arcade game for your Sega Master System, then you might like to play Mananuk's new game of ' Black Sea '; A game that was not only released on the Amstrad, ZX Spectrum and MSX, but while this is a port of the MSX version by STOKES, it is still an enjoyable game in which you play as Submarine Captain Robinson on a quest deep into the Black Sea to search for treasures and discover all the secrets that those waters hold.

In 1989 Sega released the incredible side scrolling, beat 'em up, hack and slash fighter for the Arcades and for the Mega Drive/Genesis. It involved lots of weapon swiping against enemies, riding mythical beasts, traversing through different locations, picking up potions, calling forth great power and giving the player the choice of a multitude of different characters. It just had to be the amazing ' Golden Axe '; a game which was also ported to other home systems such as DOS, Amiga, Atari ST, Amstrad, C64, SMS, and ZX Spectrum.

Alex Kidd 3 Curse In Miracle World - HOT NEWS as High grade SMS fan game gets a release!
In 1987 Sega released the great side-scrolling platform game ' Alex Kidd ' for the Sega Master System console. Although it was first released in Japan in 1986 but internationally in 1987, it was one of the most well known games as it was also built into most Master System II's. In actual fact it was so well loved that a fan by the name of Yeti Bomar (aka Watain) has announced the release of the incredible looking fan game of 'Alex Kidd 3 - Curse In Miracle World' for the Sega Master System.
Pitman - A homebrew puzzle platformer for the Sega Master System
We haven't featured any Sega Master System games for awhile so to change all that, here's a nice little game you can play right now, it's Pitman developed by under4mhz. Yes indeed thanks to a heads up via i_am_sverx on twitter, we now know that this game is a fun little puzzle game and features multiple levels of enjoyment as you must collect all the diamonds on the level to move on to the next.
Garbagefield Saves Christmas - An unusual Sega Master System game by Zero X Diamond
While many of us are back in Lockdown and it feels as if Christmas was but a blip during these harsh times, I thought it best to post a new game to cheer everyone up called 'Garbagefield Saves Christmas' developed by Zero X Diamond. This game released before the eve, is a new game for the Sega Master System, which was created using CYOA as an adventure game whereby every decision matters!
