There's nothing more satisfying than writing about the latest games, but when it comes to my chunky handheld the Gameboy or the GameBoy Advanced, it's feeling a little left out. Sure we've had games that are designed in a Gameboy style, but actual fresh cartridges is something of a rarity. So here's one game that looks to be worth downloading or pre-ordering if you want a physical edition, is CASTLE of TERROR by PCNONOGames. A new game which can be seen in the latest footage provided by the developer below.

Already Indie Retro News is on the case with the latest news, as here we have the latest project of Outrun for the Game Boy Colour by Rocketship Park. A game that was released in 1986 by Sega in the Arcades, with later ports to systems such as the Amstrad, Amiga and many others....Just not the Game Boy Colour! So to change all that here's Rocketship Park's latest project, which not only looks super cool, it runs and sounds almost like the original game...NICE :)

The Game Boy was a huge part of my childhood, games such as Tetris, Mario, R-Type and even PaperBoy was played for many hours, even when trying to see the damn thing on long haul travels without a light source at hand. So to see a new platformer game called ' Ruby & Rusty - Save the Crows ' announced through Bitmap Soft for the Game Boy certainly made my day! You see this game isn't just for the Game Boy, but it's being developed by Max Oakland contained within an original box with gorgeous art work.

From Below - A great Tetris style game recently released for the NES is coming to the Game Boy
If you loved the 1984 game of Tetris or the 1989 game of Columns then you might like this latest news story featured here on IRN. As trawling through Facebook today, we have found out that the previously released NES game of ' From Below '; a game which gained positive feedback such as "This NES title was a great surprise", is now being developed for the Gameboy! As in the words of the creator Matt Hughson " I've started porting my NES game From Below to the Game Boy, shown here is the GB Color version running on Super Game Boy with a custom border".

Castlevania Prelude of Chaos - Love letter to a classic, styled like a Gameboy game (PC/Windows)
After already mentioning games such as Vampire Slayer, which is a Castlevania engine from the Mojon Twins' MK1 Churrera, another Castlevania game has graced our screens. As trawling through the itch.io website we've come across a game called Castlevania Prelude of Chaos. According to the creator of this game, Castlevania: Prelude of Chaos is a love letter to the old games from the 8-bit era and especially Castlevania II: Simon's Quest.
GBJAM 8 - Lots of great games submitted to the latest GameBoy Jam!
What a great early part of the week for retro games, as during the latest GBJAM 8, over 200 games were submitted for voting to be a successful entry in the GameBoy themed Jam. A jam in which gamers from around the world were given the opportunity to create any game they wish, as long as it looked like a Game Boy game. In fact it was such a great competition that we even had the pleasure of playing the rather cool game of 'GBNOID' ; a game inspired by the classic Cybernoid by Raffaele Cecco!

Timothy and the Mysterious Forest - Bit of a Zelda fan? You might enjoy this upcoming game
I thought to myself today it's been some time since we had any Zelda style games on Indie Retro News, but thankfully I came across one that doesn't only look like a Zelda game, but it almost looks like an original Gameboy title. This game announced as coming to Steam soon, is called " Timothy and the Mysterious Forest " by Kibou Entertainment; an "old school" style with some modern-age ideas. A mix of Game Boy graphics (heavily inspired from The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening) along with meta-narrative, stealth system and action combat with high level difficulty.

It will be receiving a wider release at itch.io on August 17th, with an eventual date for GOG to come soon.

Oh joy of joys, if you loved the 1984 game of Tetris or the 1995 game of Tetris Attack, you'll be pleased to know a brand new puzzle game inspired by those games has been released for the Game Boy. This game named as 'INTO THE BLUE', is a puzzle game developed by Jonas and comes with all the features you would expect of an officially released game from back in the day(Romhacking).
Steer Clear - A rather unique Gameboy styled game soon to be released
As a fan of the Gameboy what with Tetris, Zelda, and Robocop, I was pleasantly surprised today to read on Facebook that Jared York was going away from the tediousness of platformers and runner games, as he is going to release a game called ' Steer Clear ', which according to the description is a top down tugboat game whereby you need to avoid obstacles and earn gold!
The Tragic Tale of Bark Scruffalo - Retro inspired action game in a Game Boy style
As a fan of the Gameboy and all those games that are inspired by that great hand held, I was pleased to see that Polynaut had released his retro inspired action game of ' The Tragic Tale of Bark Scruffalo', that looks very much like a Gameboy game but is available for the PC. In this game you play as a faithful Dog owner who must protect a lovable pet Bark Scruffalo at all costs from creepy creatures spawning out of the unknown.
