Indie Retro News celebrates over 5 years of gaming news!

View count going up!

Indie Retro News is not only very close to our new first huge milestone of 40 million views, but today is our 5 year anniversary since our gaming creation in the late part of 2011! Over many years of posting the latest gaming news on certain forums, (originally just quotes) I had a dream to create my own gaming website, one that would suit both fans of the Indie scene and the Retro scene and would reach out to as many people as possible, which includes those of you in the Amiga, Amstrad, C64, ZX Spectrum, Sega Master System and even the BBC Micro scene. Thus in late 2011 Indie Retro News was born and over time has seen a huge surge in views to the point of even making the top 100 for the best gaming websites on the planet.

Amstrad CPC 464 - 30 years old this month!

Ahhh the Amstrad CPC 464, a great machine that did surprisingly well against the C64 and the ZX Spectrum. And today it's a day of celebration! Well at least if you had an Amstrad, as the old girl is 30 years today. Amstrad was founded by Alan Sugar who is well known by the younger generation as the person that says " You're fired " although I'm not a fan of the guy I can thank him for the Amstrad and a great period of retro gaming. It was said that in the early 80's Alan Sugar wanted a machine to resemble a real computer, and not a pregnant calculator and thus the Amstrad CPC 464 was born in June of 1984.

RCRN - A total lighting and shaders revamp for Skyrim that looks good!

Game Type : Mod, RPG, Open World
Mod Info : We don't often write about Skyrim mods as there are just way to many to write about, but this one really blew me away. Today is the RCRN anniversary (2.1.4) of this very popular mod that not only adjusts the lightning, but also gives you new weather affects and a very easy adjustment of graphical settings. As the developer states : RCRN is a total lighting and shaders revamp, it grants you an immersive gameplay experience without ruining the original feeling, finely tuned for indoor and outdoor scenes it also provides an incredible dynamic experience, weathers, lighting sources and HDR are dynamically generated and managed with our Hybrid Shaders engine! The only down side is, it doesn't work with many other lightning mods including Realistic lighting overhaul, but with those out of the way I think you'll be sticking with this.
