Another retro gaming news story for you all, and one I think some of you will be playing throughout the weekend, is the brand new game of Pik 'N Mix for the Commodore 64 by Shallan50k and friends. Mob City C16 - A Commodore 16 game inspired by the coin-op Empire City: 1931

Luca Carrafiello of Plus4/World has just posted via their Facebook group to let us know that if you have a Commodore 16 it might be worth checking out the latest release of 'Mob City C16'; A Commodore 16 game which isn't just inspired by the coin-op Arcade game of Empire City: 1931, but it's also based around the same game as Prohibition, a game which is also the conversion of the Arcade game later released by Infograms on systems such as the Amstrad!

80's 8bit classic Rock Star Ate My Hamster as a Millennium edition for the Commodore 64, Commodore Plus/4 and ZX Spectrum

The last news story of the week and one I think many people will be loading up by the end of the day, as we've recently been trawling the plus4world website, and have found out that the classic management game of Rock Star Ate My Hamster, has been unofficially re-released as a Millennium edition with 50 brand new stars at the pinnacle of their success in the twenty-years period between 2000-2020. Although this is a crack of the game, 4 of the artists have been drawn by the original game's graphics artist Chris Graham with Intro bitmap originally by Schafft/Brothers/COM.

Arkanoid +4 - The Plus/4 gets a great port of a classic game!

If you remember Arkanoid; an arcade game first developed by Taito in 1986, with the bat like device scrolling from side to side at the bottom of the screen, bouncing an orb back and forth and smashing blocks for a high score. Then you'll love this news update! As thanks to Saberman contacting us through Facebook, he has told us that if you head on over to the plus4world you can download a brand new port of Arkanoid for the Commodore Plus/4.

Nu, Pogodi! - Another Game and Watch game appears and this one is for your Plus/4

Another day and another Game and Watch mention, as the previous one was called 'Kong' which was ported over to multiple commodore systems as Donkey Kong Junior, and this latest release called Nu,Pogodi!(Well Just You Wait!)' has been developed for the Plus/4. Now unlike the other game port developed by alargames and starring Mario, Nu,Pogodi! was a game released in the 1980's as a Game and Watch title and has been ported/remade to the Plus/4 by Legion of Doom.

Kayleth - A brilliant text adventure game makes its way over to the Plus/4

A great piece of news has just hit our inbox, as if you're looking for a new text adventure game to play, and a good one at that! Then thanks to a heads up via idpixel.ru we've just learnt that you can now download the Commodore Plus/4 conversion of the highly rated C64 and ZX Spectrum game 'Kayleth'; an epic sci-fi adventure with cyberpunk elements from the mind of Stefan F. Ufnowski (who also coded Rebel Planet).

A Small 3 level Amiga demo of an upcoming Amiga platformer

As most of you are aware, there are different ways to create Amiga games, either through Amos, Blitz Basic, RedPill or through the rather lackluster Backbone. But one such engine is making its presence known, and that's Earok's in development Scorpion engine; a nifty piece of software that allows users to create great games running at smooth frame rates even on lower end Amiga's.

Donkey Kong Jr Game and Watch - Alargames ports a classic to multiple Commodore systems!

Well this took us completely by surprise, as thanks to a heads up by our good friend Thermoptic, we've been told arlagames has not only released the port of Donkey Kong Jr Game and Watch on the C16-Plus/4, but also the VIC-20, and the Commodore PET. Although he is still currently developing the C64 version which is due soon. If you've not read our previous articles, these are ports of the Donkey Kong Jr game which was originally released in 1982.

Pumpkid - A charming Halloween game for the Commodore Vic 20

Not content with Get Witchy, Forgotten Forest or Luna for your Halloween experience, then how about this game for the Commodore Vic 20 ' Pumpkid '; a brand new release from Hewco64 in which you play as a child turned into a haunted pumpkin by an evil witch Hazel, and must defeat her with a candy hoard to break the curse of the Pumpkid on All' Hallows Eve.

Commodore: The Final Years - Last call for Kickstarter trilogy

There's only a few days left to back the final part of Brian Bagnall's trilogy of books covering the rise and fall of Commodore with Commodore: The Final years. CBM was riding high with the success of the Amiga yet in just a few years they went from top dog to bankrupt, and this book aims to chart the events that brought the company down.

The Commodore Story - New trailer released!

Back in April last year, Wavem studios successfully ended their kickstarter campaign to fund "The Commodore Story", smashing their target of £17,500 by nearly triple. An ambitious project to chart the rise and fall of Commodore in book, documentary film and chiptune CD form, looks to be a worthy addition to tell the story of Commodore. Thankfully while we wait we've already had a promised video diary of clips of interviews that will go into the final film. Now with a final edit that has taken place with preview screenings, we welcome the official trailer that has been released in preparation of the final release. And it's a cracker...

Zzap's back - Zzap! 64 Annual 2019 announced!

Remember that feeling you had when you were waiting for your favourite computer magazine to come out? Although it's early days, Jaz Rignall has confirmed his involvement and we've got our fingers crossed that Gary Penn, and many more of our favourite Zzap writers will be able to help make this project happen.

Commodore : The Inside Story by David John Pleasance - A book Kickstarter you really should back!

Through all these later years and Kickstarter book campaigns and documentaries, you'd probably think there wasn't anything else to write about when it comes to that historic C64 and Amiga company 'Commodore'. But that is all about to change, as here we have a brand new Kickstarter campaign for the Commodore : The Inside Story book, which is actually being told by one of the Commodore legends 'David John Pleasance', who was a former UK Managing Director of that famous company!

Welcome to the story of the Commodore Amiga by Nostalgia Nerd

It's nearly time for bed but have I got an early morning surprise for you! If you want to know more about the Amiga, it's historic story and how it become the legendary system that it is known as today by many retro heads such as myself. Then you really should watch Nostalgia Nerds latest Youtube Part 1 video of ' The Amiga Story '. According to Nostalgia Nerd, who is well known for making great retro system reviews and stories, This episode deals with the "up" part of the story, and takes place during the 1980s. It charts the conception of the Lorraine machine (that would become the first Commodore Amiga), the early years and team spent working on the machine, the buyout of Atari followed by Commodore, the launch of the original Commodore Amiga machine (later renamed the Amiga 1000) and the subsequent Amiga 2000 and Amiga 500 machines which conclude before 1989 is out.

Amiga Retro Event - Playnation Games celebrated the Amiga

After all our write ups and social media chatter, Playnation Games on the 29th September celebrated the best of the Amiga with its own Amiga Retro Event. Sadly however Indie Retro News was not there due to a number of unforeseen circumstances, hence these photo's given to us by permission instead. Still from everything Chris Palmer has told us via the Sega, Atari, Commodore, Nintendo RetroGaming Cafe Facebook Group, after putting his heart and soul into organising at Playnation, it went rather well!

2017 Retro Calendar by ChinnyVision.

Youtuber ChinnyVision, who specializes in reviewing games from the golden 8-bit generation, has produced a rather neat and tidy 2017 retro themed calendar. Featuring many of the 8-bit systems of the 80's, each month highlights a classic game such as Chase HQ or Bomb Jack 2, and how it looked on different formats of the day. As an Amstrad fan, Chinny gives the CPC a lot of coverage, but equally so to the Spectrum and Commodore, comparing screenshots side by side. Other systems pop up now and then such as the MSX, BBC Micro and C16. Wonderfully printed and clearly defined, this calendar is a must for retro gamers everywhere. For more information, watch my in-depth review of the product. Certainly makes counting the days a lot more interesting and fun.

Individual Computers GmbH and the rebirth of Commodore!

We were a bit late on this one so you've probably seen the news by now, but after all these years that famous branding name Commodore is back in action. Yes indeed the glory of the C64, is bringing back the nostalgia but this time as a Commodore PC. Thanks to individual Computers GmbH, based in Germany they have licensed the rights of the Commodore trademarks from Polabe Holding N.V. Oh and if you're concerned about the name behind the ownership, it is by none other than Jens Schönfeld creator of hardware, such as the Turbo Chameleon 64, C64 Reloaded and ACA12xx accelerator. In other words if it wasn't for Jens us Amiga and C64 owners would be worse of!

Ubisoft RPG Classic Iron Lord Gets Patched By T.A.C

Title Screen
You've all played Moonstone right? (who the hell hasn't?). You all know how awesome that game was, well Iron Lord on the C64 by Ubisoft which has recently been patched by TAC to iron out some of the original bugs, is like a mini version of Moonstone, complete with adventure, exploration, fighting, and archery! The archery competition is no doubt the best part of the game, it's slightly repetitive but still lots of fun, it almost reminded me of Hypersports, trying to pick the right timing and angles to hit the board.
