In 1987 Hewson released ' Exolon ' for the ZX Spectrum, C64 and Amstrad CPC, with a later conversion to the Enterprise 128, Amiga and Atari ST. In the game, you played as a sci-fi soldier across multiple screens blasting away enemies and defending yourself against gun defences as well as homing missiles. Well if you remember this fine game then make sure to check out Space-Time Games latest release called 'Exolon - The Continuing Adventures'; a retro gaming classic by Hewson that has received an unofficial sequel!

Zombies Ate My Neighbors The Sequel - A fabulous unofficial SNES hack that aims to impress!
It was only just a little while ago that we mentioned a much harder hack of the great SNES game ' Zombies Ate my Neighbors ', as well as Zombies Ate my Neighbors: Dr. Tongue’s Revenge, which featured many of the levels remade with unique ideas by Skylar Brock. But this time we are going much further, as announced recently via the Romhacking website, Droter and team have released the Zombies Ate My Neighbors - The Sequel; A complete hack of Zombies Ate My Neighbors, meant to be a sequel to the original game
Pains 'n' Aches - In dev Knight'n'Grail sequel gets new C64 gameplay footage
In 2009 Wide Pixel Games, with publishing rights by Psytronik Software, released the fantastic action adventure platformer game, Knight 'n' Grail, which was rather like Metroid and Castlevania. It featured over 200 screens, upgrades, varied monsters and much more that made it a highly recommended game and one of the best on the C64. So as a glorious announcement and a heads up by Oliver Lindau. Mikael Tillander, Håkon Repstad & Hans Axelsson, the team who brought you the original stunning Knight 'n' Grail game are working on the sequel as Pains 'n' Aches, which has since received a new gameplay footage video!
ENEMY 2 Collectors Edition - The sequel to a bloody Amiga shooter is available in boxed form!
In 1997, which is very late in the Amiga's life time, Anachronia released the bloody action shooter ENEMY : Tempest of Violence as an exclusive for the Amiga system. It is a very rare and brilliant game that was very similar in style to that other classic Flashback, but also very close to the style of Blizzard's PC platformer Black Thorne, but with far more action and gore. Regarded by those that played it as a ver under appreciated Amiga game, sadly only relatively few copies were sold because of the state of the Amiga market and so we never had the chance to play a sequel, at least until now.
Hyper Bounce Blast - A Shoot 'Em Up with a Twist!
Last year PC/Steam users were treated to a unique single-screen shooter by the name of Horizon Shift courtesy of Flump Studios. Fast forward to 2016 and now we get the semi-sequel in the form of the beautifully titled Hyper Bounce Blast. Taking cues from it's predecessor in style and feel, 'Hyper' gives us a wonderful blend of shooting, point building and platforming in a sweet indie title harking back to the tropes of yesteryear. It's mixture of gameplay styles is surprisingly workable and enjoyable, so sit back and relax as I give my thoughts of this neat little polygon blaster.
QUOD INIT EXIT II - The sequel to the colourful C64 game has been teased.
Last month we gave a special mention to Retreams Arcade homebrew of ' QUOD INIT EXIT ', that had a cute little pig, lots of fast moving fruit and was so colourful you would've been silly not to even load up through a C64 or the emulator WinVICE. So to hear from the developer of the sequel which has only just been announced, we were just a little bit excited. Named as ' QUOD INIT EXIT II ', you once again play as the piggy, but this time looks to be more of a side scrolling platformer with finished development into next year.
StarDrive 2 - New Gameplay Trailer for their upcoming 4X turn-based space strategy game
Zero Sum Games and Iceberg Interactive has released a new gameplay video for StarDrive 2, detailing its rather fancy game components such as the new turn based combat with alien races to new galaxies and ship design. StarDrive 2 is the sequel to the original turn-based 4X strategy release where the goal is to build an empire to span the stars.
Inherit the Earth: Sand and Shadows - A new Inherit adventure from the original creators!
I could not believe the news today as I was only just recently thinking to myself about that golden adventure game that had you playing as "Furries" in a adventure game like no other. And that game was Inherit the Earth: Quest for the ORB, a multi-platform adventure that made a popular appearance on the Amiga & PC. It was just a shame it never got the official recognition it truly deserved (I for one loved it). But the good news today is, thanks to Tom Turrittin who has a soft spot for Inherit, he has informed me that the original creators Wyrmkeep Entertainment have announced through Kickstarter, Inherit the Earth: Sand and Shadows, a sequel to the original!
RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 - The classic theme park game returns for a sequel (iOS)
A brand new sequel to the award winning classic RollerCoaster Tycoon has now appeared on Mobile devices. RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 is now available for iOS, where you can create and share your very own theme park, complete with custom build rides. The general feedback so far is pretty negative and isn't doing to well in reviews, especially with it's micro transactions, however this is just the lower quality Mobile version as the best is yet to come, the PC version! As soon as we hear more about that version, we will give you the heads up.

Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth - Hot News : Alpha Centauri sequel? Announced! Now with a trailer!
Probably the biggest news of the week has just hit the Indie Retro News HQ as Sid Meier is back with a new Alpha Centauri (1999), one of the greatest sci-fi turn based strategy games I've ever played. Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth as it's titled, will not be a simple remake of Alpha Centauri but rather a "what would happen after Civilization V" (according to the devs). There will also be 3 types of planets from lush vegetation to airy decaying worlds. You will start with an Outpost and your only goal will be to survive! Are you alone on this world? Will you build cities upon the lush or decaying landscape? Will this be as good as the original? Who knows, but I'm sure many of us will be waiting for even more news on Beyond Earth!
Release date : Late 2014 Systems : PC, Mac, Linux - UPDATE : On further investigation, it seems as if this isn't a direct sequel, but the concept will be very similar, a representation of Civilization, but in space. UPDATE 2: New Trailer!

Forge - Adventure fan-made sequel to LucasArts, Loom
Adventure fans rejoice! A fan made sequel to Loom, LucasArts’ 1990 adventure-game masterpiece is in development and this looks to amaze the fan base of any LucasArts adventure gamer. Apparently Loom was supposed to have been followed by two additional stories, each following a different protagonist; but these games were sadly never made. Thus feeling the love lost, the team behind this fan based sequel, hope to carry on the story in the same vintage pixel-art style of the early 1990s.
