This month alone we've seen some real bangers of hot news stories, from Ghosts'n Goblins Arcade for the Amiga, the fantastic looking C64 game called Petal Panic, and Sonic The Hedgehog for the ZX Spectrum NEXT. Well, here's another one that is sure to be a big hit! As I've been informed that 'Apidya Special' by ININ Games, is still coming to consoles and PC August 2026. A game that is described as, "an authentic, 24-bit pixel remake of an incredible 90's Shoot 'em up. No 3D models, no AI upscaling—just handcrafted pixels and passion with an exclusive Chris Hulsbeck original soundtrack"!
And here's the details. "A legendary shoot-'em-up returns. More than three decades after its original release, one of the most beloved classics of the 16-bit era is back. Completely rebuilt from the ground up for modern platforms. No emulation. No compromises! Experience the legendary insect-themed adventure like never before, with enhanced visuals, modern features, and the authentic gameplay that made Apidya a cult classic. Explore five unique worlds. Battle through meadows, ponds, sewers, cybernetic landscapes, and the lair beyond. Face over twenty unique bosses. Discover hidden stages and expect the unexpected with randomized events that make every journey feel different.".

Awesome!
Great! What about Apidya AGA in 320*200 with more colours than OCS version, but same music and sound? Like Turrican II AGA the best Turrican version ever? Thanx! Jaan.
ReplyDeleteWhat in the Kentucky Derby is a 24-bit pixel remake? For a minute, I thought they were talking about a Neo-Geo port, which SNK cheekily called a "24-bit" system. You can't total up all the bits on the chips in a motherboard! If that were true the Sega Genesis would also be a 24-bit system.
ReplyDeleteActually, now that I'm thinking about it, somebody make a version of this game for the Neo-Geo. It would fit. Kinda looks like a Neo-Geo game from the images.
Apydia ECS version existed only !
ReplyDeleteApydia AGA w. 256 colours much better on Amiga only in ADF format...are appreciated !!!!
Hope In Future !!!
