Well, this is a delight for a midweek news story, as thanks to the developer informing us this morning, we've been told that Castlevania AGA is done, and now available to download as version 1.0. A glorious fan-made Commodore Amiga project developed by independent creator Dante Retro Dev using earoks Scorpion Engine. Rather than a direct port utilizing original source code from the Sharp X68000 or PlayStation versions of Castlevania Chronicles, this release is a complete reimagining of the landmark 1986 original. Instead, it borrows the sophisticated visual palette and aesthetics of Chronicles to present a beautifully enhanced, 16-bit-infused interpretation built from the ground up tailored to the Amiga's Advanced Graphics Architecture.
A fresh update deployed on September 26, 2026, brings a wealth of polish and secret content to this incredible game. Players can now hunt for hidden bonuses buried within the levels—such as an elusive treasure chest that materializes if you stand perfectly still in stage four. Alongside gameplay tweaks that fix rendering layer issues and bug elimination where stage-one enemies would wander off-screen past walls, the developer has even overhauled the final throne room encounter and Dracula’s ultimate form. To top off the package, Amiga owners can now download a printable PDF manual filled with extra goodies to complete the authentic big-box feel of a classic Amiga release.

Looks indeed glorious. @indieretronews, you really should mention that is made with scorpion engine! This is one of the best examples why scorpion is by far the best amiga game dev tool.

DeleteWonderful! Is it running on a stock A1200 or does it need acceleration?
