Prince of Persia - A brilliant retro gaming classic for the Atari XL/XE looks so much better!

It was only just last month that we announced that the 1989 classic platformer of Prince of Persia by Brøderbund, was not only coming to the Atari XL/XE as a conversion/port by Rensoup, but also  the Intellivision by Matthew Kiehl. Fast forward to this week however and thanks to another heads up by Saberman, we've been told this very difficult game with its well designed levels and extreme danger, has been much improved in the latest WIP 20/01/13 release which can be downloaded below.

Old Version

New Version

As we said before we don't know when the game will be finished so it could be awhile yet, but from the last released video above and the teased downloadable alpha demo. The developer has said the graphics have been ripped out from the BBC code, featured optimizations, as well as working in a virtual environment, learning the Atari HW, and doing various graphics and loading tests. As for this new version however not only is L2 playable, but there's new music by Vinscool, a lot more animation frames redone by TIX, and as you can see a much better character sprite!
