If you remember playing the C16 classic game Zodiac, which was published by Anirog in 1985, then come and check out the latest release of 'Zodiac Deluxe' for the Plus/4 by Legion Of Doom (LOD), with coding by Csabo, and graphics by KiCHY. An updated version of the original, that includes many changes and extras. As in the words of the website "If you're curious what would a 1985 game with a fresh new coat of paint would look like, check it out". As ever provided below is the latest gameplay footage and details.
And here's the info from the Plus4 World Facebook page. "If you are smart enough to choose the right flaws in a game design, to be enhanced, still respectfully preserving the core and the lore of that game, you'll be able to revolutionize completely its playability! This is exactly what Csabo and KiCHY (Kisnémeth Róbert) have done with Zodiac – a C16 classic game published by Anirog in 1985 – a blatant clone of the famous Shamus, and their results are excellent! Now we can call it a challenge! Zodiac Deluxe gained a new consistency, polished graphics and gameplay, story intro, music, a new bonuses system, new rules which improve the playability, aaand more! Overall, the game still run on a plain Commodore 16 within under 16kB!"

I've actually never gotten around to playing Shamus but always thought it looked like a cool game. I had plenty of friends growing in with an Atari 8-bit home computer but don't remember any of them having Shamus. It's something I saw later in the internet era. Finally will get around to playing this game or at least this port of it. I will let you know how it goes.
ReplyDeleteI can tell you, the game is quite nice, but the music is annoying! Should get fixed, so that volume can be influenced!
