The classic 1994 Amiga action platformer Ruff 'n' Tumble has unofficially arrived on Windows and Linux, bringing the complete and incredible Amiga game to modern gaming systems. Originally developed by Wunderkind and published by Renegade Software, the acclaimed title was celebrated as one of the Amiga's premier platformers due to its rapid pace, amazing graphics, stunning animations, expansive levels, and satisfying run-and-gun gameplay. This faithful modern reimplementation allows a new generation of players to experience the simple joy of sprinting, leaping, and blasting through an Amiga masterpiece.
The game follows the adventurous Ruff Rogers, who tumbles down a rabbit hole while chasing a runaway marble, only to find himself trapped on an alien planet governed by the villainous Doctor Destiny. With his prized marble collection scattered across four perilous environments, Ruff must confront Destiny's aggressive robot military to reclaim his property. Players must navigate massive stages and survive intense boss fights spanning the Fantasy Forest, Underground Mine, Tinhead Factory, and Doctor Destiny's Castle. Success requires dodging deadly traps, operating machinery, hunting for hidden keys, and gathering essential red, green, and blue marbles to safely reach each exit.

ReplyDeleteSuch a perfect revision, completely true to the original with just enough resolution, aspect ratio and quality of life improvements to make it feel like a modern game. Like all the best updates, you forget that you're not playing the original game within moments, and it feels exactly like the game you remember.
ReplyDeleteThe frame rate updates alone are wonderful, smoothing out what was always a slightly choppy experience with silky scrolling and animation.

ReplyDeleteIt's uncapped and unlimited. I just ran a frame counter with it and it reached 4000fps on an i9 13900, RTX 4090 system!!!
DeleteI keep on getting the download flagged as having a virus.. I'm sure it hasn't, but Windows is adamant it has.
