According to Romhacking who mentioned the translation, the game is based on the anime prequel to the sci-fi movie Zeiram, and you play as Iria a space travelling bounty hunter who keeps running into the immortal villain Zeiram and must defend herself against many different foes, in sometimes maze like levels!
