The Atari Jaguar wasn't the only system to see a decent game release this week, as retro gaming developer FlunkyRetro has just unleashed a haunting new challenge for the ZX Spectrum titled THE TOWER OF OCHATE. Built on the versatile MPAGD engine, this title invites players to step into the shoes of a paranormal investigator trapped within the most infamous enclave of northern Spain. To coincide with this news, we've got the full details below as well as the latest gameplay footage from Saberman.
Here's the latest. "You play as a paranormal investigator in the darkest enclave of the Álava region. During your incursion into the Tower of Ochate, a force that should never have been disturbed has sealed the exits. To escape, you must solve the mechanisms of each room: find the correct combination of levers for the key to materialize. However, the true challenge lies in the Burgondo Medallion. This object is not visible to the naked eye; you must step on the exact coordinate in each level for the medallion to reveal itself elsewhere on the screen."
MECHANICS
- Mechanical Puzzles: Each room is a unique enigma. You must deduce the correct sequence of switches for the key to materialize, allowing you to advance.
- Exploration: Find the invisible trigger point to spawn the Burgondo Medallion.
- Pure Spectrum: A challenge of logic and skill powered by the MPAGD engine.
CREDITS
- Author: FlunkyRetro.
- Music: Air.
- Art: Aitor Chavez.
- Inspiration: Based on the figure and investigations of certain paranormal researchers.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let you know that v1.3 of The Tower of Ochate is now live.
ReplyDeleteAfter listening to your feedback regarding the difficulty, I’ve added three different modes so everyone can enjoy the game their own way: 'Relaxed' mode (no timer, for stress-free exploration), Easy mode (99 seconds per scene and no key penalty), and Hard mode for those seeking the original 20-second challenge.
This will likely be the last major update, so I hope you enjoy it! Thanks for all the support.
good, thanks.
