DuneCity has arrived on Android, PC, and Mac, transforming the open sourced Dune Legacy engine into a complex Sim City like experience. While players return to the harsh desert planet of Arrakis to manage the vital spice trade, the gameplay shifts focus from traditional real-time strategy warfare to massive civic infrastructure. Survival hinges on careful city planning, where players must design zoning districts for residential, commercial, and industrial use. A fully functional power grid is essential to keep the settlement alive, as any blackout can prove fatal in the unforgiving environment.
Managing growth on Arrakis introduces an economic layer where every expansion requires a careful balancing act. Players must construct efficient road networks to prevent traffic bottlenecks, ensuring that resources move seamlessly across the desert. Beyond construction, success requires balancing tight municipal budgets, maintaining public services, and keeping the population alive under the constant pressure of the spice economy. The port brings the classic Dune 2 strategy game we know and love, over to city simulation, turning the battle for Arrakis into a test of urban endurance.
