The acclaimed 8-bit fantasy hack-and-slash roguelike Rogul has officially arrived on the Atari ST and STE. Originally created by Wojciech "Bocianu" Bociański, players step into the boots of the warrior Rogul on a seemingly straightforward yet punishing quest: battle through ten demon-infested dimensions, hunt down elusive portal keys, and ultimately destroy the tyrant Amolotolos. True to its genre roots, the game features turn-based combat, randomly generated realms that grow increasingly hostile, and a permadeath mechanic where one single mistake sends you right back to the beginning.
Far from a lazy emulated port, this new version has been rebuilt entirely from scratch by Krzysztof "KtZ" Jarzyna and Krzysztof "Hospes" Jedowski of the Retro Blitter Team. The duo has crafted a brand-new engine and visual presentation designed specifically to push the unique architecture of the Big Atari hardware. The result is a fluid, modernised revival that preserves the addictive, "just one more run" loop of the 8-bit original while giving Atari 16bit owners a technically superior experience. If you enjoy merciless challenges where every run feels completely different, this revamped edition by Retro Blitter Team promises to keep you occupied throughout.
