We don't usually feature Atari STE games simply for the fact that I am mainly an Amiga gamer at heart, but sufficed to say I was rather impressed by the news that has just appeared in our feed thanks to our friends AtariCrypt. A coder/developer by the name of Douglas Little (aka dml) is developing a new game engine for the Atari STE which creates the groundwork for an ultra smooth screen scrolling engine, and one with lots more colours. So imagine side scrolling shooters with smooth frame rates and lots of baddies on screen, which could be a realistic possibility with this up coming engine for the Atari STE.

In actual fact from the video posted above by AtariCrypt the game engine has come along way to its current stage as not only does it include music, but the game is so much smoother and more appealing to the eye as you can see with the link (here) Another interesting bit of news is the availability of a downloadable version, which is always being updated with more fixes and improvements, but I do recommend visiting the forum and seeing the latest developments.
