C64 Game Maker - A tool that allows you to generate C++ source code for simple video games

We've featured many game engine updates throughout the years, from the C64 with SEUCK, to a constant array of updates for the Amiga with either Backbone, Redpill or our personal favorite from Earok called The Scorpion Engine. Well here we are with another game engine news story, as thanks to a good friend of ours contacting us early this morning, he has told us of a game engine for the Commodore 64 called 'C64 Game Maker' by AGPX. A tool that allows you to generate C++ source code for simple video games. To coincide with this news, one of the highlighted game demos using this tool is shown below called 'Legacy of the Lost Spell'.

The CONK game engine - Another Amiga game engine appears but this one was never released!

We've featured many game engine updates throughout the years, from the C64 with SEUCK, to a constant array of updates for the Amiga with either Backbone, Redpill or our personal favorite from Earok called The Scorpion Engine. Well here we are with another game engine news story, as thanks to Earok contacting us early this morning, he has told us of an unreleased yet interesting game engine for the Commodore Amiga called 'CONK'. Now while details are sparse, the only thing we know is that it has surfaced on the developer's website and Earok has said he is not sure when it was actually uploaded there.

The Scorpion Engine - A fabulous creation tool for the Amiga gets a Parallax Update

As most of you are aware, there are different ways to create Amiga games, either through Amos, Blitz Basic, RedPill or through the rather lackluster Backbone. But one such game engine is becoming the highlight of nearly every new Amiga game or tech demo announcement, and that's Earok's Scorpion Engine; a constantly updated piece of software that gives developers the tools to create graphically impressive games, running at decent frame rates even on the lowest spec'd Amigas.

2D Amiga Game Engine shown as a 2019.06 update

We've featured a couple of Amiga engines this year, one being Red Pill and the other being Scorpion by Earok. But another game engine has also been mentioned, as we've been told by both Saberman and Per Ola, that Retro Navigator has updated his 2D Amiga Game Engine to 2019.06. If you want to know what sort of games can be created using this engine, the developer has shown off a small Zelda style game, a platformer, and even a shoot em up, as a result of recent experiments based on ideas taken from EAB (English Amiga Board) forum for Blitz Basic coders.

Alarcity - PixelGlass' upcoming first commercial Amiga game is teased

You may remember our exclusive heads up for the unofficial Amiga platformer overhaul of ' The Great Giana Sisters ', which was known as ' Giana Sisters Special Edition '. It was a remastered/overhauled release by a new label called Reimagine Games as a teaser of what was to come focusing on non commercial ports, hacks and remakes. But under a new company name which is focusing on the commercial side is Pixelglass, who today have announced as their first commercial Amiga game 'AlarCity'. A fast paced, top down, arcade shoot'em'up action game!

8-way scrolling system teased for Atari STE game development

We don't usually feature Atari STE games simply for the fact that I am mainly an Amiga gamer at heart, but sufficed to say I was rather impressed by the news that has just appeared in our feed thanks to our friends AtariCrypt. A coder/developer by the name of Douglas Little (aka dml) is developing a new game engine for the Atari STE which creates the groundwork for an ultra smooth screen scrolling engine, and one with lots more colours. So imagine side scrolling shooters with smooth frame rates and lots of baddies on screen, which could be a realistic possibility with this up coming engine for the Atari STE.

We've talked about the games, we've even mentioned the hardware, but now it's time to officially announce the latest Amstrad game engine release of 'CPCtelera 1.2'.
