Well, here's a Sunday surprise! As Retrodnagames has released a fan-made port of Capcom’s legendary 1984 arcade shooter 1942! This impressive homebrew project brings the classic vertical shoot-'em-up to the Commodore Amiga with an uncompromising, old-school ethos. Retrodnagames has coded the entire game from the ground up using AsmOne assembly language, painstakingly rebuilding all 32 stages, enemy flight patterns, and maps from scratch simply by studying arcade gameplay videos. Proudly crafted entirely by hand without any AI assistance, the port achieves decent performance too, boasting vibrant 32-colour graphics that run at a silky-smooth 50 frames per second at a native 224x256 resolution.
Time Pilot - Konami's 1982 Arcade game has been ported over to the Amiga
Even more Amiga news for you today as RMJ and JoeJoe, has released a 1:1 conversion of Konami’s 1982 classic Time Pilot to the Amiga 500 and 1200. Rather than a standard emulation or loose recreation, this involved translating the original arcade machine's Z80 processor instructions entirely into 68000 assembly code, instruction by instruction. Furthermore, this conversion replicates the intense aerial combat of the multidirectional shooter, where players pilot a jet through an indefinitely scrolling open airspace. Each distinct stage shifts the battlefield to a completely different historical time period, staying completely faithful to the legendary arcade game originally distributed by Centuri and Atari.

IL MARINAIO - This latest Amstrad CPC 128k game by Andrea "Mr. DVG" Pastore is inspired by 1982 Arcade classic Popeye
Thanks to a heads up by Xenomorph we've been told that Andrea "Mr. DVG" Pastore has released their latest game of IL MARINAIO, a brand-new Amstrad CPC release built entirely from scratch in pure Z80 assembly language with the help of AI. Inspired by the iconic 1982 game Popeye from the arcades , the game hopefully captures the charm of the original. Players step into the shoes of a lovesick sailor tasked with catching hearts, musical notes, and love letters dropped from above by his sweetheart, all while staying clear of the freezing waters below. Standing in his way is a brutish bully who stalks the stages, alongside a bottle-flinging witch who begins hurling bouncing skulls at higher difficulty rounds. Fortunately, the classic spinach power-up makes a welcome return, granting temporary invincibility and allowing the nimble sailor to knock his rival into the sea with a satisfying punch.
Skyshift - This Arcade inspired Amstrad Shooter by TITAN looks well worth playing!
A rather fabulous arcade-inspired shooter has been released for the Amstrad CPC by Titan. Titled as 'Skyshift', the project draws heavy inspiration from classic vertical shooters like 1943. To maximize programming efficiency and ensure crisp readability on the Amstrad CPC, Titan has said that they have opted for a specialized 128x256 pixel gameplay window running in the Amstrad's distinct Mode 0. The game introduces players to a World War I Allied flying ace who, while dogfighting over the front lines in the spring of 1918, is suddenly swallowed by a bizarre, luminous cloud. He emerges into a radically changed sky, facing hyper-advanced, propellerless enemy aircraft that far outclass his fragile biplane.
Kizuna - Another monochrome game appears and this time for the ZX Spectrum by Xeif
A new monochrome platformer has sliced its way onto the ZX Spectrum, courtesy of developer Xeif. Titled as 'Kizuna', this stylized black-and-white release frames its story through the lens of a classic comic book, using expressive pixel art to transform each game screen into a comic panel. The story follows the ninja Hanzo on a high-stakes mission to escort a young girl named Hana through a treacherous world cloaked in shadow. Rather than relying solely on mindless combat, the game challenges players with varied gameplay scenarios and obstacles that require patience, and clever problem-solving to overcome.
The House on the Borderland - First person survival horror game for the C64 by AI/Michael Cox
Another C64 game to play with the release of The House on the Borderland, a first person survival horror game created by developer Michael Cox. Drawing direct inspiration from William Hope Hodgson’s classic 1908 novel, the game tasks players with a desperate stand to protect their home, their sister, and their loyal dog from an onslaught of marauding swine-things. Survival hinges on enduring three brutal nights of siege, where daylight hours must be carefully spent resting, repairing fortifications, and tending to the wounded. Compounding the tension is a strict lack of re-supply, forcing players to meticulously ration their starting stock across the entire ordeal while managing a unique "dread" meter. If this gauge climbs too high due to darkness, eerie silence, or structural damage, your character's perception will warp, leaving you completely paralysed by fear.
Caveman - Dodge prehistoric creatures in this new arcade game from Bonnette2020

The title beautifully channels the spirit of 1980s arcade classics, blending colorful graphics and fluid animations with puzzle-solving elements.
The Legend of the Little Chicken - Another fabulous ZX Spectrum game from Furillo Productions
Furillo Productions has unleashed They Called Him El Pollito (The Legend of the Little Chicken), a vibrant new shoot 'em up that injects a heavy dose of Spaghetti Western flair for the ZX Spectrum. Set in the lawless badlands of Bernard Valley, the game casts players as a feather-ruffling vigilante known simply as "The Chick." When the local schoolteacher and ultimate love interest, Rosita, is abruptly kidnapped, our gunslinging hero must hit the trail to rescue her. Rumours point to the notorious "Joe the Mad Miner" as the captor, but a deeper conspiracy suggests a much more powerful puppet master is pulling the strings from the shadows of this dusty frontier.
Lost Souls - Arcade horror from Megastyle for the C64 ( preorder boxed via Bitmap Soft)
Fancy playing another creepy game for Halloween weekend, then Megastyle has you covered with their latest game Lost Souls, an atmospheric arcade horror game that tasks players with saving a spirit trapped between worlds. Set within a forgotten, whisper-filled graveyard, the game requires players to brave a haunted path to ignite 25 lanterns resting upon ancient gravestones. Cauldron - Halloween Edition - A brilliant game from the 1980's gets an improvement via AI/Devil-System
Devil-System has resurrected Palace Software’s 1985 classic with the release of Cauldron: Halloween Edition for the Amstrad CPC. Originally designed by Steve Brown and Richard Leinfellner as a genre-blending platformer and horizontally scrolling shoot 'em up, the game follows a witch's perilous quest to defeat the "Pumpking" and claim her title as the Witch Queen. While the original release garnered praise for its dual gameplay modes and visuals, it was notoriously infamous for its punishing, excessive difficulty. This new edition helps that issue by packing in three distinct difficulty levels, a dedicated training mode for relaxed exploration, a built-in map, and modern conveniences like a pause feature, a high-score table, and essential game-saving capabilities across four supported languages.
Roc'n Rope - Konami's 1983 arcade climber for the Commodore 64 via BrokenBytes
Broken Bytes has began a project to bring over Konami’s 1983 arcade classic Roc’n Rope to the Commodore 64 without any AI! This faithful conversion tasks players with ascending treacherous, multi-tiered stages using nothing but a harpoon gun and sheer determination to reach a mythical phoenix. Navigating the vertical landscapes requires timing, as players must anchor ropes across treacherous gaps and climb to safety while dodging a barrage of falling rocks, aggressive dinosaurs, and hostile cavemen. To survive the onslaught, climbers can blind foes with a flashlight, snatch up power pills and feathers for a competitive edge, and chain together actions to keep their high-score bonus ticking across four distinct environments—ranging from jungle ledges, icy caves, spinning wheels to a towering waterfall.

This ambitious adaptation fuses the code of the original Commodore 64 release with the refined visual art style of the Amiga version. The developer heavily reworked the source material by hand to push the boundaries of the NES while utilizing the MMC3 mapper with 256K PRG-ROM, 16K CHR-RAM, and 8K WRAM. To protect players' hard-earned accomplishments, the game features WRAM write protection outside of gameplay and retains both your record track times and overall career progress on boot. Separate fine-tuned versions have been released to accommodate NTSC, PAL, and Dendy hardware configurations.
